HOF Version 3 - "Test Run"

Field artilley shells the Russian Marine near Königsberg, a Tiger division throws it back into the sea.

Guderian attacks Stalingrad, killing a regular Rifle div -- and taking that town??! I expected much stiffer resistance. Anyway, this will make Stalin very angry, I hope. And shows that the German army can still bite... No more annoying partisans for a while! And three planes were destroyed in the process, too.

So what do I do with my other fast moving units I prepared for this surprise offensive? The job is already accomplished.

Elite Inf corp kills Cavalry at Rostov. Mech Inf kills Militia on the road to Voronezh. Panther div Army attacks Rifle div and Fortress division in Voronezh. Army at 8/16. Panther Corp destroys Flak position and liberates Voronezh, destroying two more planes. HA shells Fortress div south of Voronezh. A Tiger div attacks, but dies and promotes the Fortress div to 2/4. More HA is brought into position, and then a Panzer corps finally takes the hill.

Panther corp defeats T34 corp in Tula and promotes (5/8). Next Panther corp defeats a Light Tank and promotes as well (8/8)! Two Inf Armies now attack Tula and kill an Artillery and a Militia, but Tula still holds.

Inf div destroys Yak on airfield near Stalingrad. More HB destroy railway lines to Stalingrad and Voronesh.

HA shells Fortress divs near Riga, but hits only once.

BTW: how many VPs does capturing a town give? Doesn't look like it's the standard 100 per pop?!

Thanks. Now I understand, why everyone is clinging to those VP locations... I mostly ignored them, unless they were easy to defend and fitted into the overall strategy...

Ok, so instead of the expected 1600 points I only got 80... :( That plan wasn't as brilliant as I thought... :D

But then I daresay it is quite difficult for anyone to get to 200000 points within 46 turns, isn't it?

One other point: I assume razing cities (burned earth strategy) is not allowed here, is it? I'm asking because I noticed city ruins, when I took over the game, wondering where they came from, if neither you nor Arexander had razed a city in the first few turns.

There are some ruins on the map at the start of the scenario,
places that were destroyed earlier in the war like Smolensk
and Nanking. City razing is not allowed, but selling all the improvements
is.

Hi Everyone...have a small glitch. Sent my Civ 3 Disk on with my desktop pc which is now on its way across the Atlantic (watch out for U-Boats!)! Anyhow..I have a replacement coming to me on Tuesday. So just bear with me. I expect to forward the save NLT Wednesday. If for some reason it doesn't get to me by then...I will forward the save onto TG to play the turn for me so that it doesn't hold up the game!

The troubles of moving...yet again!

First find the Partisan at Rostov and execute him. Hopefully he was the last of his kind... :D

HBs and a MB bombard 1st Ural Front down to 9/19. 4 HAs continue pounding that front, but only one hits (7/19). Several field artillery pieces have a little more luck (4/19). Now an elite Panther Corps attacks and kills the 1st Ural Front!! Yep, only 4 more to go...

Greetings all! I have the save and will play it today. Have just returned to the US a week ago today. We are "in transit" visiting friends and relatives in the Midwest. We will be setting up our new residence in Alabama next week. Don't wish that on anyone considering how hot it has been there!!! So expect a few more short delays in my turnaround time but it shouldn't be too long!

Cheers!
