Hi guys!

Just a reminder that tonight is "Friday Night Sinning" where people from IronClad and Stardock will be online playing, and just hanging out on the Ironclad servers.

It started around 6pm EST (Friday) and will go until whenever.

The only thing I'm not happy with is that there is no single player campaign or anything. This gives the game a steep learning curve.

Don't know if it's because of that but I admit I'm rather lost. I just can't get grip of what's happening in my empire. I can build stuff and move it around but I'm completely missing the big picture.

If only someone would make a good thorough walkthrough (something like Sulla made for Civ4) of a small 1vs1 game with explanations of not only what but why.

EDIT: BTW, any idea why the wonder movies in BtS are freezing after I installed SoaSE? They start normally but freeze after few seconds. If I alt-tab BtS away and back the movie is running again. Clicking the movie brings the wonder effect as it should and they appear after a while if I don't do a thing. It's like the movie is running behind the frozen image. With bink player the movies run fine. This has happened to both of my comps and installing SoaSE is the only common factor I can think of.

I've sadly stopped playing this now. Tried everything and each play through seems to be going through the same motions.

yeah, i couldn't figure out anything when i played. i had hoped for a game like homeworld on crack. but this game just doesn't make sense and doesn't have a campaign. and it kinda needs a campaign coz i would never play a game like this online

Play all of the tutorials. You should have a good idea on how the game works, although admittedly the tutorials could have been done much better. The learning curve is roughly an hour.

The tutorials do nothing more than give an overview of controls. The combination of 1) lack of any explanation on how to see if your empire is doing okay or not, 2) lack of anything like Civilopedia to get the grasp of the mechanics and 3) my lack of experience in RTS games will make learning curve way more than an hour.

Try playing online next friday. Ironclad and Stardock do newbie games every friday where you can get a lot of your questions explained. Or ask on their forums, and/or IRC channel.
