I was just curious to see how much space my whole Civ 3 + C3C + mods combo takes up on my hard drive... and found it's almost two gigabytes! Yow, that's a fifth of my entire hard drive... how much space does everyone else's Civ 3 folder occupy?

About 1.5 gig or about 1.25% of my hard drive. HD space is cheap. :goodjob:

Unfortunately I've never been good with computers and wouldn't trust myself to install extra HD space :o

On this computer, which doesn't have Conquests installed, 1.14 Gb :)

1.67GB and it contains 688 floders and 9,207 files. but my hard drive can hold 111GB so im not worried.

The saved games takes quite a lot of space. Each game on a "huge" map can take up to 3.5 mb, and if you save on every turn, that can quickly add up.

I delete all of my old saved games, so I only have a few running at a time. And I tend to stick with only graphic mods, so they just replace the regular graphics. Of course, if you include the backup files, then it gets up to a whopping 2.9 gb.

4.57Gb

[but it does contain multiple installions ie Civ3, PTW, C3C (versions 1.15, 1.20 and 1.22 for PBEM games)]

Well, what can come out of the folder to clear up space (other than saved games)? I have all 3 incarnations of Civ 3 and never play the first 2 at all anymore. What is "safe" to remove?

1.69 GB, which is a lot considering that my hard drive only holds 7.86 GB, which is 11,354 files or 969 folders (edit: that number of files is in the Civilization III folder only, not the whole computer.) I'm always deleting stuff I don't need and adding things I think I do, so the numbers change a bit. So Civ3 takes up just about all of my space that's free, considering that other important things take up a lot of space too (I currently have 46.8 MB of space, plan to upgrade soon.)

I lost overview and cleaned up the mess a few days ago. I had way too many subfolders in the C3C save folder.
Now it's only 1.5 GB with ~7900 files.

Only 1.7G.

But then, I just re-installed it cleanly in Linux; no save games, yet.

:wow: You got Civ 3 working under linux? How did you do that? Wine? Crossover? The only reason I keep this dodgy broken OS on my machine is for Civ 3, so it takes up a bit more than 1.7G ;). I really would apperitiate some pointers.

4.75Gb in 24,160 files and 1557 folders.

Using the commercial (costs money ;) ) version of WineX, now called Cedega.

See my thread in Tech Support. :)
