How can we destroy climate change sceptics?

What is the granularity of the trend line there? Because I notice it makes a large dip for early 2008, but no such dip is present for the low years of 1999 and 2000. If we looked at a trend line made this poorly back in 1998, then we'd all think the Earth was going to spontaneously combust by 2010.

Simply put, this isn't showing actual trends at all, past 2005. Undue focus is paid to one year.

Anyway, it shows temp/year. You can decide which decade was hotter.

Yes, the ending trend is crap - as they generally are.

Maybe, but that trend line was drawn in by hand to make a point - not by using some statistical modeling.

I humbly submit that they are indeed relevant to the debate as you cant stop or even slow down global warming without their participation.
I humbly object that they are indeed relevant with regard to a solution or policy regarding AGW, but not to the debate whether AGW is or is not happening.
Actually, I have seen some headlines that say the last decade was cooler than the one before....

Got it :)

This bit is important:
Climate "sceptics" have claimed that temperatures have not been rising over the last decade. Of the two widely-used global temperature records, one - the UK HadCRUT3 record - shows an apparent plateau from 1998 to 2008.

But climate scientists point out that this result is achieved by taking 1998 as the starting point. Taking, for instance, 1997 or 1999 as the starting point, they argue, produces a different result.

Lower troposphere? Why LT?

I would seriously love to see the geographic distribution of weather stations post 1940. If it wasn't heavily skewed towards the Eastern Continental United States and Western Europe I would be highly surprised. For instance, Australian statistics post 1950 come from a handful of primarily coastal weather stations the majority of which were the subject of rapid urbanization and the contingent bias that brings in. That's before I allow for instrumental biases which can be order of magnitudes larger than the figures we are worrying about now.

 lying graph is deceptive! Ecofarm, you should know better than to post something that's obviously false, because you know some people will be tricked by it. The first rule of popularisation is to not be wrong

This website allows you to compare the temperatures in the atmosphere. It's a link that Dr. Roy Spencer uses (he's a pretty famous skeptic, and I mean that in a good way, Ainwood introduced it to me).

You'll note that the majority of 2009 has been warmer than 2008 in the LT. 2009 looks a lot like 2005, even (another record year).

People think that because it's really cold near them that there isn't warming. I've replied to Mobboss's "it's cold near me!" links a couple of times showing how the global heat is rising. Water, air, ice, etc. are all showing more heat. Sun's contribution is at a cyclical low, too.

*2009 compared to 2008 & 2005 to show how the graph is lying. One year is not a trend.

There's a lot of polar religious views on both sides but I'll go with the scientific consensus simply because the other side is full of oil companies and ******** bankers or religious nuts with a grudge and no sense of what Christianity actually means about respecting all life.

I believe thats important reason for these who will start research subject and it should be reason for silence when results say otherwise.

So you think this is some people's pet project that has been disproven by real science?

I personally see Global Cooling as the issue, But that is just my respective viewpoint.

And your viewpoint is not automatically equally valid. Sorry.

I was showing that this decade was warmer than last, as the graph temps clearly show. Anyone can see the curved line (at the end) is silly.
