How does district project work?

Hello everyone,

I'm still wondering how does district project work really. I have tried some but it's totally not clear about how it works. It says that produces gold/science/production/faith (depending on type) + Great people points when it's done (between 5-10 turns (by the way, how is it calculated?)). However, during the project, I can see that city receive a gold/science/production/faith bonus but not GPP, not even at the end. I'm really confused.

gpps go directly towards the great person bar the turn project is done. in my experience it was about 15 points.
