How is your EU4 Game going?

Finished the game as GB. Was fun - had 3rd place in the end woo ! A few more points and i would've been second !

I hated the part in the 1810 aprox when random wars got declared between countries that had no ties whatsoever. I got: the king of Naples died and left the country to Great Britain and other countries are contesting this. WTH i had no diplomatic contact with Naples my entire game and i never even had a royal marriage or anything with them. :confused:

Anyway, i wanna start a new game as an eastern asian nation ! What is the easiest one to play ? Some daimyo to Japan ? Some chineese dynasty ? Some random south east asian country ?

First coalition war with France happened. I attempted to be the coalition's hunter-killer because of my superior military, but we ended up losing because there were just too many stacks of French soldiers to kill.

As a result, I am doing what any responsible nation would do. Arms race!

Red is enemy, green is coalition member, yellow is potential ally if France attacks certain countries. That is 20k more than I had at the start of the last war, and my economy is in excellent shape, so I'm just going to keep going.

A few years after the first coalition war failed, France became defender of the Catholic faith. Then when Orthodox Poland invaded Catholic Polotsk, it got itself involved in a war in Poland. Seeing this, and with my new larger army, I immediately took advantage of France's poor strategic position to jump in and attack just over half of their army where it had no where to retreat to.

Of course, Poland hates me from all of the times I've beat it up, so I couldn't get military access. To solve that problem I simply invaded Poland as well. After defeating 51k French and 25k Polish troops, I immediately hurried my forces west to meet the rest of the French forces on the battlefield while the rest of my allies got to work besieging. After a while of hunting down French units, they eventually seemed to just give up and stopped building new units, allowing me to shift my forces back east to deal with Poland.

Since I was the leader of the coalition from starting the war in the first place, I held out for 100% war score, and proceeded to tear France apart as best as I possibly could. In hindsight, it probably would have been smarter to not make them release Aragon and maybe some of the German minors and instead focus more on French ones, then let rebels do the rest.

With France dealt with, my main concern is now the Ottomans encroaching from the south, having already taken most of Hungary. And with taking the last remaining provinces needed to form Germany.

@SuperBeaverInc

Are you playing with lucky nations on? In my games without luck nations on Ottomans don't seem to roll through Hungry. Of course its still a small sample so i could just be "unlucky" in this respect.

Oh yeah. nice work on smashing up France. In my Mamluk game I split my massive galley fleet and then France rocked up with nearly 20 heavy ships and 30 light ships and smashed my fleets before I realised what was happening and could consolidate my fleet. Oh well :rolleyes:

I'm on ironman mode, so yes, lucky nations are on.

@SuperBeaverInc

recreating the german minors was exactly right: you need them to war each other all the time. You as emperor (are you emperor? didnt check) are called to help, you join the war and win it, obviously. get 100% warscore, easy against countrys with 2 provinces, and take only all theire gold and theire trade influence as punishment. Dont vasallize them or anything. That way you will have constant wars to fight that earn you cash and you get HRE-Points very fast, allowing you to rush through the reforms.

When you hit 'landfriede' start to work on some peacefull anexiations and increase your popularity. Defend the HRE against intruders and just wait till it all becomes a part of you for free.
Edit: Dont have the save anymore, but I reunited som,ewhen around 1600 that way. Guess it could be gone way earlier.

I don't force them to give me trade power, since it tends to be minimal anyway and I already make plenty from the Lubeck trade node. Enough that it allows me to sit at 100/105 of my force limits currently while still making 13 or so gold a month. Instead, since me and Denmark are the only significant Protestant nations in the world, I've been forcing others to convert. As a result I've been able to stack the deck on the Imperial elections with a ton of small Protestant nations who vote for me as there is really no other choice except for Bohemia. Who I occasionally beat down and keep at a manageable size to stop them voting for themselves.

I haven't been getting too many of the calls to join wars inside the empire though, as everyone is attacking everyone else with valid CBs. Unless there is some other way to join in that I don't know about.

Wat

Morale's a bi**h huh ?

I started the battle with more of it than them. And 166% discipline vs 111%. And better military tech. And I was defending against an amphibious landing. I seriously do not understand how they pulled that off.

I subscribed to several mods from Steam workshop, but they don't show up to select them to play. Anybody have a clue why not?

You have to load the game up first. Once you quit, and reload, they should be there in the start menu.

Thanks, but...

I launch steam and then click on play for EU4
I get a window saying welcome to EU4 and two smaller windows. One says select mods to play (it is empty); the other says select DLCs. All those are checked.
Clicking on Play EU4 launches the game. I've not seen anywhere once the game loads to select mods.What am I missing?

here's a step-by-step-guide.
  1. Subscribe to the mod on steam
  2. start EU4 and just load up the game
  3. quit the game
  4. restart EU4, the mod should be selectable.

OK I will try it now.

I have several subscribed to mods on steam
I started the game and let it load to the choose single or multi player choice.
I exited the game
I closed steam
I opened steam, clicked on play EU4
DLCs showed up; no mods. :(

Is there a place after the game loads to select mods?

I have to manually open the mod folder to ensure everything is in the right place everytime I download a new mod. Not sure why that helps, but it does for me.

How would I know if they are in the right place?

Documents\Paradox Interactive\Europa Universalis IV\mod

Once there you should see a .mod file and either a folder or .zip type of file that both have the name of the add-on you're trying to load.

You can also use Notepad++ to edit one of the .mod files, and you should see something along these lines:

Code:
name="Timeline 9999"
archive="mod/timeline.zip"
tags=
{
"fixes"
 }
picture="timeline.png"

As an example.

For me, simply opening the .mod file is usually enough to get the launcher to detect the mod, odd as that may be.
