I'm scared to install R&F after two patches ago broke everything. How long do you guess it will take for mods to work again, and do you care?

There will likely be a patch to the base game even for those who don't buy R&F, so if you're really concerned about your mods, set to play in offline mode before Thursday, and don't install R&F or go back online until others report that whatever mods you deem essential are working again.

The speed of mod updates is totally unpredictable. It depends how many changes and how complicated are the changes that are made to the parts of the game that the mod affects, as well as the time and interest that the mod creators have in updating them.

yeah, while i am really looking forward to the new expansion, the killing of mods for a while is something i am dreading as well.

"Firaxis has been in contact with Modders"

Well, thanks for the laugh :D

:D It was to make a point, how hard would it be to send an advance copy to authors of very popular mods in the way they send copies to video game journalists?

Of all the wonderful mods I use, I think the one I'll have the hardest time living without will be Production Queue. Hopefully it can get up and running not to long after the expansion comes out.

I wish.

My Simple UI Adjustments changes are mostly minor/modular, so I should be able to get that working day of release at least.

I love that you can get the city info screen to move over in a day, but the devs just leave it as is. They need to find someone else to work on the UI.

YEP, same. all the others i have are minor little things. The production queue.. oh man

A key in a mail, and signing a NDA.

I personally am NOT going to buy the expansion until there is CQUI support for it. The game is so much worse without it I hate playing without it. Maybe if everyone boycotted the new expansion because of this they might get the message to support the modders, but neither will probably happen.

How do you "set to play in offline mode"? I have searched the stupid Steam application up and down, and not only is there no way to disable updates I don't see how to play in offline mode.

Just sign into steam in offline mode (as if your internet connection was down)

Never done it myself, but when I asked on these forums months ago, I was told that Googling it would bring up step-by-step instructions.

"when I asked months ago"
Back then I copied some text to my civ6infos file:

Using Offline Mode
Please follow the instructions below to configure Offline Mode on your PC:
1. Start Steam online - make sure the "Remember my password" box on the login window is checked
2. Verify that all game files are completely updated
3. Launch the game(s) you would like to play offline to verify that there are no further updates to download - shut down the game and return to Steam once you have confirmed that the game can be played
4. Go to Steam > Settings > Account to ensure the "Don't save account credentials on this computer" option is not selected
5. From the main Steam window, go to the Steam menu and select Go Offline
6. Click Restart in Offline Mode to restart Steam in Offline Mode

(Obviously I Never done it myself)

So now I have Steam running in offline mode and Civ VI comes up fine, but some of the steps above have me concerned. If the game is not completely updated is Steam still going to let me launch it after a patch tomorrow or will it just update it anyway? If I happen to forget and close Steam, does it come back up in offline mode again or will it come up in online mode and notice there are updates missing, preventing me from playing Civ VI? (I have it set to only update when launching a game.)

Separately, can I still earn achievements running in offline mode or am I giving that up? If so I am kind of screwed as I am still earning the achievements to win a game on each Civ so if I play offline I cannot progress.

Good to hear. That's one of my favorite and most indispensable mods. You do great work.

It depends on which UI mods you use, to be honest.

CQUI touches a vast number of UI parts, so will necessarily some time to update appropriately. The extent of the required updates depends entirely on how many minor tweaks Firaxis has made - every file that Firaxis touches that CQUI uses in some way will probably need at least a minor tweak.

This is only one of many reasons why I have a large preference for Sukritact's UI Adjustments.
