This is a question for the people who has gone to college, is in college or have applied for college. How many colleges (include junior colleges and 4 year colleges) did you apply to? I'm suddenly reminded of conversations I had in the dorms and the people I talked to applied to insanly high number of colleges. A majority of them applied to 4 or 5 different colleges. There were some that went over 10 .

I'm applying to 6 colleges (for early decision). Finished 1 application so far and working on the others.

I usually don't talk about this, but, hey, what the heck. I applied to five, got into one.

I applied to a lot of schools.
I applied to three service academies, accepted by one.
I applied to five universities, accepted by four.
I applied to one college, accepted by two. (that's right, two as in double one. :crazyeye: )

I applied to 3 colleges (well a college and 2 Uni's), Caledonian University, Paisley Uni and Bell College.

I got a conditional acceptance to all 3. I only needed one more higher to get into Paisley or Bell but I needed something like 2 A's to get into Calle, thats because the computing course there seems to be one of the most sought after in the country. in order to get in on the form it said I needed a BBC. Fair enough, but after everyone applied the grade rocketed to AABBC  so I didn't get in there. So that left two, a uni or college. I chose the college cause its near where I live and also technically its a degree, validated by Strathclyde Uni, quite a respected institute. Also, Paisley is one of the worst Uni's in the country.

I think some people know exactly what uni they want to go to. Some know what course they want to do, so where they go is less important. it just really depends on the person.

For me, it's a bit special. I attend 3 years of special school (called "Mathématiques Supérieures" and "Mathématiques Speciales"), where the only think you do is learn math, physics at a very high dose, and a few chemistry, the goal being to take (and pass) entry examinations for Engineer schools (we called it "Grandes Ecoles").
As it's quite hard, we usually take as many exam as possible, but we have to make some choices (the last about one week each, and as they are all in june... we cannot take all of them).
However, several schools are grouped together in the same exam. You make a list of the schools in order of preference, and then guy with the best score choose first.
For me, I take 5 exams, passed 3, and finally select ENAC (the French Civil Aviation University), for the Computer Science and Air Traffic engineer option.
I'm happy, because it was my first choice§. For information, they took 86 people, and there was 4,500 taking the exam.

I applied to Princeton University Early Decision. If I don't get in, I'll apply to Harvard, Yale, and some safety schools.

I will apply to 4 in the next few weeks. In order of preference; American, Case Western, Ohio State, BYU

Erm, what's a college? I applied to only one Sixth Form College.

Later, I applied to 5 or 6 universities to get the 'conditional acceptance' I wanted.

Coming out of high school I applied to one (NC State) and went there. Then 2 if you count the community college I'm going to now.

A smaller school that only has a few fields of study. Generally in the US "college" and "university" are used interchangeably.

I applied to one, back in the day. Only one I wanted to go to. Texas A&M. Got in and never looked back. If I DIDN'T get in, it would have been jr college until I got the grades to go.
By the way, I still feel that jr college is a good idea for non disciplined students

I applied to four (Northwestern U., Iowa State, Iowa, U. of Northern Iowa) and was fully accepted by the three Iowa schools including a full four-year scholarship at UNI. Northwestern accepted me for the Integrated Sciences Program (I wonder if that still exists...) but put me on the waiting list for the Univ. as a whole. Since I had to meet a financial aid decision deadline for the other three schools, I had to give up on Northwestern--much to the relief of my parents.

I applied to 4 colleges (UNC-Asheville, UNC-Greensboro, James Madison University and Guilford College), and was accepted to all 4. I decided on Guilford because of its tiny size (about 1500 students) and Quaker ideals.

Well, I don't know about me, but my sister is applying to 8. Her safety school is American, I believe, and the top liberal arts college in the country is her most far reaching(It's like William college, or something like that). She's of course applying to UMass as well, we've both got half-scholarships there already. Me, I plan to apply to MIT, Princeton, Stanford, UC Berkely, UMass, and maybe Duke.

I looked at a few...applied to one and that's where I have the pleasure/pain of attending classes every single day...

I've chosen one, applied to it and passed in :)

But where I live you must do a really tough entrance exam, so only one of ten has a chance. On the other side, education is free ;)
