I started playing Civ I back in 1993. It came pre-installed on my old 386. At first, I couldn't understand the basics of the game (I didn't know what those "settler" units did, lol), but later on it became an incredible addiction. I've been hooked on ever since.

I'm not sure exactly when I started playing, but I was very young. I started with Civ I but since I'm only 18 now and it was an old game at the time (repackaged and sold by "crucial entertainment") Civ II must have been out at the time. I had much fun with Civ I but, being very young, never understood anything about working tiles or the economy as far as I can remember, and the fact I still managed to conquer enemies is surely a testament to how easy "Chieftain" difficulty was. I think I was aware there was a sequel and went out to buy it, Civ III was already out by then, so I've played Civ I, III + Conquests, IV + Warlords, BTS and Rev on the DS, but not II.

I have played Civilization since Civ2, but I was too young to really appreciate a slow paced TBS game. Civ3 is probably the first I "massively" played. Civ4 has been almost an addiction from the release to... uhm.. I'm still addicted.

I started with Civ 1. Played it on my old 386. Good times, man, good times. Was my favourite game at the time, and I am glad they are still making Civ so I can continue playing it. :)

Civ 1 used to be on my stepdad's computer. Or at least on one of the many many computers he had. I did play it but not a great deal. I didn't really start getting into Civ until Civ 2.

Never played Call to Power, Revolutions or Alpha Centauri. Other than that, yes, every civ starting with Civilization I :)

Bought my 486 back in 94-95. Went to the local computer store and purchased Civ and Railroad Tycoon on the same CD for $11.50. Best value for money ever. Needless to say Civ in all it's incarnations is still my "Desert Island Game".

Started with Civ 3 in around 2002 (I think?) It was the first actual video game I played. Me and some friends of mine really became hooked on it. With Civ IV, and inevitably, FFH when I got BTS in 2009, it just got better.

I started at Civ 1 but missed Civ 3. Came back in at 4 and now I'm eagerly awaiting 5... anticipating good things but I'm prepared to be surprised if it doesn't turn out like I hope.

I can't even find the disks for Civ 1 and 2 now. I used to love having to go into DOS to play civ1. I'll never forget the DOS shortcuts from playing it ('cd..' etc.)

I started with Civ 1 and I have bought every Civ product since then.

Been Civing for almost 20 years now. :D

Civ 1! My Godfather had it on his computer...or rather, my godfather actually had a computer at that point in time. And he had Civ 1

started with cIV4 a few months ago, as a "why not?". I had seen the games and heard about, but never played it, even though I love sim/building/strategy games.
As annoying as some parts of the game are...wildly addictive =/

Really looking forward to a non-annoying ciV :)

Oh I remember my first Civ games. It was CivI, played on an IBM Clone 286. How things have changed! Back then it was (a) cities that didn't look like cities, (b) units which didn't really look like what they were supposed to represent & (c) pikemen who had the ability to bring down Stealth Bombers . Yet in spite of all of that, I was still an addict from the very get-go. Here I am, around 20 years later, & I still love to play Civ :)!

Aussie.

I still remember losing a battleship to a diplomat in Civ 1.
Those were the days. ;)

You've come a long way baby...

Or the AI chariot that attacks my mighty stack of offensive units, wiping out them all in one blow. Stack of doom? More like a doomed stack!
