How much does OT know about Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers?

He's a damned good musician with some great hits out there. That said, I personally don't have a crush on him. :) Now a Condi thread, that would be something worthwhile!

Unfortunately he was in that god-awful Kevin Costner movie, the Postman...
He also did the voice of this guy on King of the Hill:

He also did the NFL super bowl half time show really recently (was it the last one?).

I've been hearing his music since the early 80s. He's got a lot of good stuff. I don't think it really crosses genre lines outside of classic rock. So people who don't listen to that type would rarely have heard him. One of his better late songs is something that they refuse to play on the radio these days... :mischief:

It's actually a brilliant song.

All I know of him is that he was on stage when Prince did a mad guitar solo in While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Other than that, never heard of him.
I didn't know that he and Prince were a "thing". New info.
He is good, but there is no reason to have a creepy obsession with him. He looks like a woman, his songs are pretty simple, and he is not even close to the best musician of his generation.
This.
No, that was Cartman.
Cartman totally pwns that song. I must admit, to my disgrace, that I actually went to southparkstudios to hear the song again. I've never heard the original.

KotH pwns. A million times better than Family Guy.

I live where Petty grew up. Gainesville, FL.

Yes, Gainesville.

I always liked this album cover. Sad thing is that I can tell which one is which. I need a hobby.

I saw him at ASU. Liked his first 3 cds. Didn't care for much after Damn yhe Torpedos. Always thought of him as a not-quite -as-good Dylan.
That concert I was asked, for the first time, to put out my smoke. Not because it was highly illegal in airnstona but because smoking wasn't allowed in the building. That was the last comcert I went to there.

I know that they had some killer songs!

I also know that Tom Petty was a member of the Traveling Wilburys; the best supergroup of all time!:goodjob:

Other than that, that's about it.

But DTT was the third CD. :hmm: First two were the self-titled album and You're Gonna Get It.

EDIT: Unless it's possible you're referring to the Official Live 'Leg? But it's not a CD.

And it is a good one. It was after that when I started to lose interest. I still liked his music but it wasn't great and the radio stations played it over and over.

I know that Foo Fighters made a song named similar to one of his songs.

He's also a multi decorated songwriter and musician, though I don't understand why?
