How much should I sell all my baseball cards for?

Depends on what cards you have, and what sets. Most of the commons and even stars from that period are not worth a whole lot as I recall. Rookies, however, tend to be worth a nice amount. Also, sets like 1984 Donruss are worth a lot. I don't remember that all as well in detail though, as I don't have too many cards from before 1983 or 1984.

Late 80's and early 90's Topps are not worth much. Probably less than you payed. You need Upper Deck or Score (depending on year), and still you'd have a hard time finding a seller I imagine. I'd expect about $150 from what you said, sell the Rickey rookie seperate and any other big cards not in sets. A Clemens (1986ish depending on brand) rookie might bring some coin. You might look to sell individual cards by finding a buyer in the market that they played. For example someone might pay more in Baltimore for a Cal Ripken card, but perhaps the Internet has done away with regional price differences.

You'd probably feel better from the whole experience if you just gave them to a semi-responsible nephew or neighbor's kid.

Counterfeiting is what has really killled the price of basesball cards. Anything that came out before the late nineties foil cards has been swamped with fakes. The fact that you have complete sets does help though but I would keep them and sell them later.

As far as the particular years go, early and mid 80s topps have some decent vaule, but late 80s early 90s Topps aren't worth much. Fleer and Upper Deck were the most valuable cards during that period. One thing that really sucks about this period is a lot of the players that everyone collected ended up doing bad later in their career such as Jose Canseco and Ken Griffey Jr. who fans spent tons of money collecting.

Sounds almost like my collection - I've got more '83-'85 cards, too.

Including:

Cal Ripken
Sammy Sosa (when he wasn't so pumped up)
Mark McGwire (with the A's)
Roger Clemens
Several famous Yankees and Tigers from the 80s.

just to name a few. No really big ones - except for Cal Ripken ($20 I think). You could do a search on what those cards are worth using Google.
