If a majority of people had the same self-righteous attitude about faith that you have, yes, I would feel threatened!

Guess what part of the world is closest to that right now?

Well, since we have freedom of religion in the USA, I will guess Iran.

So you're guessing that the country "where a majority of people has the same self-righteous attitude about faith that you have" is Iran?

Do you like that?

I am not self-righteous...I dont hold myself in any higher regard than you or anyone else. We are all sinners. The thing that makes us different is what we do about it.

I dont demand that others follow my faith. I havent said my religion is any better than anyone elses.

So, feel free to drop the self-righteous moniker....it aint me.

American Heritage Dictionary
self-right·eous (sělf'rī'chəs)
adj.

1. Piously sure of one's own righteousness; moralistic.
2. Exhibiting pious self-assurance: self-righteous remarks.

How exactly aren't you self-righteous?

Yes, you did.

You say that only followers of your religion make it to heaven; that would make your religion better.

Not to people who believe otherwise. Do I believe my religion is the 'truth'? Of course I do.....but outside of violent Islamic fundamentalists, I am not in the habit of saying my religion is better than X.

Try to stick to what I actually say next time. It helps when quoting.

Well I gave definitely sensed "pride" in there, one of the seven deadly sins, it is the opposite of humility, so you are a sinner.

Satan has obviously some measure of control over you.

Or do you perhaps feel that that sin has originated in your self, without external influence?

I definitely got some "pride" vibes from MBs comments, too.

This thread has really gone off topic now. :p And nobody even used Ask a Christian.

Uuh, no it hasn't. All the argumentation and discussion is revolving around the concept of sin/unrighteousness (and whether it can shield you from Satan). It will extend fully onto Satan's role in the matter as soon as consensus/conclusion is reached.

I never claimed otherwise. Everyone is a sinner.

Satan has obviously some measure of control over you.

Again, you havent been listening. I never said I didnt sin; but a man can resist the devil and he will flee. Even the most righteous of men have moments of weakness.

Or do you perhaps feel that that sin has originated in your self, without external influence?

Sin only has one originator.

When one resists the devil to make him flee, what are the results? Is a resistor more capable of living in a loving and compassionate manner? Or are bad things less likely to happen to that person?

What does the devil affect, such that there's any value in resisting him?

Wow. I bet you were tops in your debate class with those skills.
Let's see. You have:

* Accused me of being addicted to Youtube.
* Said the statement "No one does X except Y" is funny to you.
* Accused me of being obsessed with Bill O'Reilly.

All of those things had nothing to do with any debate that was going on.

And then you ridicule someone else's debate skills. You are the king of the hypocrites.

* Accused me of being addicted to Youtube.

I said this after you posted a reply which consisted of like 15 youtube links. Figure it out.

* Said the statement "No one does X except Y" is funny to you.

Dont remember this one.

* Accused me of being obsessed with Bill O'Reilly.

And I think its funny as hell that you continue to deny it. You have started more Bill O threads and made more Bill O comments than anyone here. Heck, the guy is still in your sig.

All of those things had nothing to do with any debate that was going on.

Of course they did.

And then you ridicule someone else's debate skills. You are the king of the hypocrites.

Come on. Me stating the obvious about you isnt quite the same as someone purposely being obtuse when I say 'please' as a reply. My observations of your obsessions and youtube use were actually accurate and not 'obtuse' at all and indeed pertained to what you had posted. King of hypocrites? Hardly.
