So the AI is scripted in war to start with a bunch of non-catapult units, then if the war goes long, to build catapults.
Which, by the way, is a horrid script because catapults are arguably one of the worst units in the game (the battering ram is so much better).
The idea is to declare war on the AI, kill their units with archers. Around turn 10 or 20 of the war, all of the AI cities are spamming catapults, just when all of their non-catapult units are dead.
At which point you steamroll them.
