How to define what is RPG and what belongs in the citizens forum

The way I see it, any discussion not having to do with the game should be in the PRG forum. For example, on the Jedi Council, unless they were directly lobbying for something in the game, it belongs in the RPG.

Thread that have nothing to do with the actual 'play' of the game, therefore, should be placed in the PRG forum. Discussions about game decisions, rule chages, and citizens groups lobbying for game decisions (anti-war group) should go to the citizens fourm. Stories, religions, etc, should be placed in the PRG forum.

I know I'm getting repetitive, but everything that does not affect the actual game should go to the rpg.
 
Now I understand.:cool: Well, if you really want to have one, that is fine. I am really sorry I am using your thread as an example here, but I hope you understand why it really doesn't make sense in the citizens forum. All you have to do to get it back here is to make it somehow related to the game of CIV3 we are about to start. Seems to me that Jedis would want us to research mysticism as soon as possible...
 
Sounds good to me, eyrei. The third role of The Council will be to get the civ to research religous advances and built religous improvements.

I agree with much of what you said, Cyc. Now, if I look more closely at Eyrei's question....

If I ask myself what I think are relevant threads for the RPG forum, I think that is pretty easy. If I ask what is appropriate for the "Citizens" forum, I don't think a clear answer comes to mind. Therefore, I find it hard to say we should have a limit or cap on Citizens threads. My answer to the question of the title of this thread is then clearly split between "I know what is RPG, but I don't know what is "Citizens".

Therefore, placing a thread like the "Jedi" thread, becomes very difficult because perhaps it never mentions RPG in it, but does it not include citizens? Perhaps it is easy to classify it under RPG because the people there are role playing. But are they role playing just the same as a Group with some RPG elements, a Nigerian Ethnic group, a Mayor, or a Domestic Leader who opens extra offices?

I also agree with Disorganizer that the RPG forum was not introduced to keep things clean. Nor are extra threads causing problems, per se. However, I am also comfortable with allowing mods to use their discretion and when they are not sure, either ask, or just leave things as is. By no means does moving threads represent a demoting or disagreement, but I hope all moves are to best expose the thread to the most appropriate crowd.

I'll keep my dream alive that the game itself gets a forum of their own (either move the game stuff to the govt forum or combine the citizen groups with the RPG). Perhaps that even keeps disorganizer's goal to keep the citizens and RPG forums together. But that could be because that shoves the interesting stuff where I like it best. :D

So, I think for now, I would say that to stay in the Citizens forum, it really has to have some (perhaps) non-expiring point to the game. Anything that doesn't, I'd be prepared for it to move.
 
Oh, I guess that was poorly worded. Clearly the length of the post is beyond my limits of rational thoughts. I was referring to the permanent threads (citizen groups, etc...). Of course, there are many valid temporary ones, including law changes, turn proposals, etc...
 
I think that it is unfair to penalise a group because it does not instantly have a goal. The Jedi council is interesting because we are building members slowly around an ideal. While we group, we will undoubtedly find issues that we want to push. It would not be the way of the force for Zarn to dictate exactly what our policy was on all issues to begin with. If we must immediately have a goal, let mystesism be it for now.

I think that it is up to groups themselves to decide where they think it is appropriate to be. It is in the interests of every group to be where they feel they belongt and it is better for the game as a whole. Let citizen's groups be in the citizen's forum.

I hinted at something in my couple posts that I am still a bit confused about. I wonder where the notion that threads are being "penalised" and "right and wrong" comes from. I was under the impression that the threads were being moved from one forum to another. Is there some sort of ranking or points involved in the RPG I don't understand? Is having a thread moved a personal issue? :confused: :crazyeye: Please help.
 
Basically CP, by moving a group from the citizen sub-forum (where it was floated) to the RPG sub-forum is saying that the group is not a legitimate citizen group but merely an aspect of role-play. There seems to be a double standard being applied.
 
But AJ, if your group, as you say two posts above, does not have a game related goal at this time, then is it not a RPG group?

I would think you would welcome having your group posted in the same environment as others disposed toward participating in that version of RP.

I agree with CP, I am sensing that there is this need to legitimize these RP citizen groups via the citizens fora, when the RPG fora, which is ranked the same in the heirarchy, is a more approrpriate place for those types of discussions.

So, I guess I am still missing your point, please elaborate if you are so inclined.

Is "RPG" in the thread title one appropriate guide to what should be in the RPG forum?
 
My two cents on this is that I have no problem with there being RPG related stuff in the citizens forum. It is like a "town hall" and RP'ers are citzens. HOWEVER, if there is a thread in the citizens forum, the RP'ers can't get mad at someone for not playing along. Like I've said before, I'll support your right to play, but infringe on my right not to play(I sound like the ACLU).
