I would like to share a method in BTS for getting a crazy super long golden age at marathon speed.

Prerequisites:

- The Mausoleum of Maussollos Wonder
- 2 GPs (at least 1 must not be a great artist)
- Nationalism
- Luck : you need Musketman Quest or Colosseum quest.

To get a golden age that is close to 100 turns:

1- Build the Mausoleum of Maussollos for 50% extra golden age length. with this wonder a golden age lasts for 24 turns at marathon speed.

2- Build the Status of Zeus just in case you receive the Colosseums Quest.

3- Research construction and build few Colosseums, trying to unlock the Colosseums Quest.

4- Save two GPs of any type but at least one of them must not be a great artist.

5- Beeline Music and save the received great artist

4- Beeilne Nationalisim or beeline Liberalism and get Nationalism for free.

6- Start building the Taj Mahal immediately

7- If you don't receive the Colosseums Quest then research Gunpowder and build few Musketman trying to unlock the Musketmen Quest. You need luck here.

8- If you received a quest then build all the required Muskets or Colosseums, but leave the last unit or building 1 turn before finish and put it in the Queue.

9- Before about 32 turns from completing the Taj Mahal burn a GP (but don't leave 2 similar GPs!). The required turns for completing the Taj Mahal will be reduced in the golden age so try to delay it to exactly 24 turns.

10- When the Taj Mahal is completed another Golden age is started for 24 turns !

11- In the Last turn of the golden age finish the last unit/building required for completing the received quest (Luck is needed for not losing the quest). The prize is another golden age !!

12- After the golden age burn the last 2 GPs and enjoy another Golden Age !!!!

And you get:
- 24 turns of Golden Age from 1 GP
- 24 turns of Golden Age from Taj Mahal
- 24 turns of Golden Age from a Quest
- 24 turns of Golden Age from 2 GPs
Sum: 96 Turns of Golden Age :crazyeye:

If you don't get any quest it is ok you still can get 72 turns of golden age which is also great.

What to do with this extremely long golden age? just go for win. If you are aiming for Domination or conquest then build tons of units in the golden age and switch civics with no anarchy as you which, if you are aiming for space then focus on infrastructure and build libraries, universities, banks, Forges in all you cities thanks for the production boost from the Golden Age.

yes, it should be noted that golen ages are one of the few things that scales somewhat well with speed, in that it gives less return the slower the speed compared to the raw costs.

You forgot to add you need to declare war on random people and let them invade your lands so you can get the marathon random even which gives you a free golden age.

Are you sure? I didn't know that. If so the trick is much easier to do.

Yep, you can queue 100 turns of marathon golden age all in a row.

I didn't know about the musketman quest though, I don't think I've built a musketman in any of my games. Is it required to build at least 1 before the quest becomes possible to get?

Thanks, I'll be building a musket in every game from now on!

The colliseum quest is just a 25% chance when the game is generated (not when the map is generated-but can someone confirm?) and appears after construction, you don't need to do anything to get access to it.

This was done in the MONTY RPC (and perhaps another I do not remember), 96 turns of a golden age. I do not recall the order of events as I was running only scientists but I believe I got a Great Artist in the NE city and maybe was first to Communism/Physics. Also teh Mausoleum was taken from an AI.

EDIT:
Just checked the game. I had 72 continuous turns of a Golden age, then another 24 later. Total of 96 but not coniuous.

Good job :goodjob:

I got both quests (muskets and coloseums with statue of zerus) and Taj Mahal recently for 3 free Golden Ages.

Unfortunately, I did not have the Musoleium :( It was on a different continent. I seriously considered an intercontinental invasion for the sole purpose of grabbing it because I was on the verge of getting 3 free (and at least a couple not free) golden ages. I didn't so I just had 5 regular golden ages that game.

You don't need quests to do this. One thing about golden ages is they increase your GPP production. I play on epic speed and I can easily run 4 GAs in a row, for 60 turns. The way to do it is to bank your GPP. Normally with your GP farm there is a decision to make: do you run specialists and get GP now or build buildings that will increase the amount of specialists you can eventually run? Well, for the early game just build up your GP farm's infrastructure, get it all the buildings it needs to shine. Then get the Mausoleum. Once you do that, get a GP and burn a golden age. In the golden age you can then run as many specialists as possible and get GP very quickly. Nab the Taj Mahal as well. I can easily get 3 GAs plus the Taj Mahal, because it only requires 5 GP in total. A fourth GA using GP, however, requires another 4 GP and so I usually don't get 5 GAs in a row. Still, 60 turns of golden age is enough to win the game.

GAs are nerfed on epic.

I'm sure you have a good reason for saying this, but for now it escapes me. Or is it the length of the GA you refer to?

Normal/epic/marathon is speeds of 1/1.5/3

Golden Age times are 8/12/16 or lengthes of 1/1.5/2

So Epic is fine, it's Marathon that is nerfed.

Epic is 10, pretty sure about that.

But isn't Normal 7? Always thought it was just a rounding thing.

Golden Age on Marathon is fine, I feel.

I've quite regularly, ended up having 5/6 golden age's in my games. I build the Taj Mahal, usually capture the Calender wonder Mausoleum of Massaleos , and end up burning my excess great people for golden ages.

I find the greatest problem, believe it or not, is gaining that GREAT ARTIST for the 4th Golden Age.

I usually have scientiest/Engineers to spare, its the Great Artist or Great Profit that's the problem.

I find I usually store a Great Artist or Profit, for that 3rd or 4th golden age.

Now I've usually decided, that I'm going for the space race, and I want to build parts in a golden age/'s.

Having that many in the Middle stage of the game, I feel is bit of a waste.

I'm not big on conquering the world, I play Continents 90%, so conquering my home continent, is enough.

I also enjoy the Micromanagement of my homelands, with no pillaging idiots crossing borders, no spies destroying improvements every 2 turns, blah blah blah..fishing boats, Bah, have plenty in storage.

Nice idea, but too early for my play style. Why play 1/2 the game and win in middle ages.
