How to install a custom Leaderhead in BtS

I am trying to add a small section for Hitler and I can't seem to get it to work. I have him coming up with his picture and all, but the text I put in there doesn't work, it just says "Hitler". Any ideas? Here is what I wrote. No errors are coming up when I start/play the game.

Hitler[\H1][NEWLINE][BOLD]Leader of the Nazi Party[\BOLD][NEWLINE][BOLD]Lived:[\BOLD] c.1889 to 1945 AD[NEWLINE][PARAGRAPH:2][BOLD]Background:[\BOLD][PARAGRAPH:1]Adolf Hitler was an Austrian-born German politician and the leader of the National Socialist German Workers Party (German: Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), popularly known as the Nazi Party. He was the dictator of Germany from 1933 to 1945, serving as chancellor from 1933 to 1945 and as head of state (Führer und Reichskanzler) from 1934 to 1945.[PARAGRAPH:1]A decorated veteran of World War I, Hitler joined the Nazi Party in 1920 and became its leader in 1921. Following his imprisonment after a failed coup in 1923, he gained support by promoting German nationalism, anti-semitism, and anti-communism with charismatic oratory and propaganda. He was appointed chancellor in 1933, and quickly established and made reality his vision of a totalitarian, autocratic, single party, national socialist dictatorship. Hitler pursued a foreign policy with the declared goal of seizing Lebensraum ("living space") for Germany, directing the resources of the state toward this goal. His rebuilt Wehrmacht invaded Poland in 1939, leading to the outbreak of World War II in Europe.[PARAGRAPH:1]Within three years, Germany and the Axis powers occupied most of Europe and a part of northern Africa, East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific Ocean. However, the Allies gained the upper hand from 1942 onward and in 1945 Allied armies invaded Germany from all sides. His forces committed numerous atrocities during the war, including the systematic killing of as many as 17 million civilians including the genocide of an estimated six million Jews, known as the Holocaust.[PARAGRAPH:1]During the final days of the war in 1945, Hitler married his long-time mistress Eva Braun. Less than two days later, the two committed suicide. </English>

I mean, have you looked that you've really added the pedia entry where the pedia entry should be? Maybe you've only added the name.

For the promotion: Look like it's done in aggressive ;).

Where do you find that comand? In the "CIV4GameText_Civilopedia_BTS" xml I have enter exactly the text in my above post and nothing else. Is that line needed in another xml file?

Thanks for your help!

EDIT: Nevermind, I found what I was looking for! That was exactly my problem. Thank you!!

Is it possible to take costom LH's for BtS and add them in Colonization or is it a compeletely different process? I noticed that both LH's for New Spain liberated South America, but they don't have ppl who liberated Mexico/the Carribean/Central America. Same for the otehr British Colonies (i.e. Canada, Jamaica) I tried adding Ekmek's Atotoztli and Santa Ana, but it wouldn't let me. Oh, and earlier, I tried to add someone's (I'll see about whose) Big Brother LH, but he doesn't appear, taht happened with Wilhelmina and Charles V, too. It doesn't give me an error, but it doesn't show anything in the Civilopedia. However, BB came with just a nonshader .nif file, so that might be easy to explain, and I'm making a (I don't wanna say, "better," but...) Big Brother.

No, it should work.
There are some Colonization mods out there, which add Civ4 leaderheads to Colonization.

Then you should define new unitcombats for these units, and do it like in the aggressive trait ;).

Okay, thanks. On that note, I might as well say what happened after I tried it: it says that the Class_Leader for Santa Ana and Atotoztli were incorrect. (This is a message I've never understood). What should I do (in BtS and Colonization)when I get it? I know taht if it tells me taht Class_Barbarian is incorrect, the civs and/or leaderheads wont' work ingame.

I modified:
ColonizationLeaderheadArtInfos.xml

ColonizationCivilizationInfos.xml

ColonizationLeaderheadInfos.xml

ColonizationPediaInfos.xml (The one with the civilopedia entries, not sure if that's the correct file name)

ColonizationObjects.xml (The one that contains the text)

This started coming up before I was able to change the XML to display a first contact comment. (btw, I got taht to work at last :D)

Taht brings me to a new problem:

When I encountered Dido, (in game, Elissa) she said this: AI_DIPLO_FIRST_CONTACT_DIDO_1 instead of whatever it was I wanted her to say. I had this problem with Sheherezade, but that was because in the XML, she was spelled "SHAHerezade" instead of "SHEHerezade" This problem did not occur with Dido, because her name is constant throughout the XML (Save for Civ4Objects_BtS.xml, where it says Elissa/Elisa in her text for the languages, but the tag is still Dido)

What do I do there?

Okay, thanks. i'm going to look into that then

Looking at your problem: That's strange. Does Napi appear in the civilopedia?

For your question: Open BtS\Assets\XML\Art\ArtDefines_Leaderheads.xml with a text editor (notepad, wordpad, whatever). Search there for LEADER_NAPOLEON. In the section for the leaderhead are 4 entries, in which .nif and .kfm files are mentioned. Just copy the section of another leaderhead over to it.

Yep, he did appear, however caused a crash. I've changed the ArtDefines_Leaderheads.xml in BtS as you suggested and now it works fine, no more freezing or reboots :)
Just a finesse, how do I change a leaderhead from civ 4 vanilla like Napoleon with a downloaded one? I read the tutorial regarding adding leaderheads to BtS, however in this case I just don't know where are the files I'd like to substitute (I noobily checked the directory \Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Assets\Art\LeaderHeads and \Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Assets\Art\Leaderheads with no success :D )

Thanks for your help!! :goodjob:

I'm glad, that i can help :).

The original art is packed in 4 big files in the Civ4\Assets folder.
But you don't need to subsitute them ;).
Download a leaderhead, create a small mod, which has only Assets\Art\Leaderheads\MyNewNapiLeaderheadFolder and Assets\XML\Art\ArtDefines_Leaderheads.xml in it.
In the new leaderheadfolder place all the files from the downloaded leaderhead, and in the .xml change the path to it.
For example, you had the entry
Code:
<NIF>Art\LeaderHeads\Napoleon\Napoleon.nif</NIF>

change it to

Code:
<NIF>Art\LeaderHeads\MyNewNapiLeaderheadFolder\MyNewNapiLeaderhead.nif</NIF>

Do the same for the 4 entries in the xml section.
The .nif you need is normaly the biggest one in the folder.
The .kfm is easy, there should be only 2 in the folder. Take the one without BG in the name.
The noshadernif is the same like the normal .nif, but probably named like Mynewleaderhead_noshader.nif.
The background is a .kfm, normaly named with _BG.kfm.
