How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

I was able to get around it by changing the greeting animation (which I planned on doing anyway), so he's fine and uploaded. Eight down, six to go...

Hey, forgive me for asking such a stupid question, but I have to make a few units and I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to use Blender on a few of them. I am a bit worried I am going to screw some settings up though, so how do I set it up so that I can make units and then go back and set it up to make LHs again when I am done.

Don't worry everyone, I'm only making five units, so I won't go on a long hiatus again.

I'm also having a problem with alphas

I've just gotten back from vacation and I'm working on a new LH. This one has a fur coat. I'm using the fur from Colonization's Spanish King, with some tweaks.

Here's the problem

(Ignore the skin, the solid faces are intentional)

You'll notice that the fur on the right looks different from the fur on the left. What happened was that in Blender, I duplicated the fur on her left shoulder, mirrored it, and flipped the normals to cover the right shoulder. So right now, the fur on that part of the mesh looks turned inside out.

Is there a simple Nifskope fix that can solve this, is there a fix in Blender, or would I just have to redo the fur entirely?

I'm not sure if there is anything I can really do about this, but I am trying to shader some of my old LHs and the first one I was going to do was my Amenhotep III LH ("Pharaoh" in my gallery). So I followed the instructions and everything but when I tried to import it into Blender there was a python error. See attachment.

Is there any way around this?

yeah this is like my prob with meiji and capo's problem. try flipping them back or adding a stencil property.

does anything else import? if not then this might be that weird script error i get sometimes too. when this happens I have to reinstall :(

Capo, I already told you your Dusan had the same problem. I suggest you try nitram's guide. I didn't try it yet, but I'm planning to.

I began looking over the original Spanish King to see how the fur was done there.

I realized that the trishape data for the fur isn't directly parented to the SceneRoot. Instead, it's parented to a NiNode with NiExtraData and NiBufferProperties attached. So, I did the same with my own LHs. Except now the fur is only showing up where the other meshes don't appear.

Who is this gonna be? Sorry, I know that doesn't help you w/ your problem, but I don't have much experience in the alpha department.

He's done with the LH. It's the Snow Queen.

Hey everyone, hopefully someone can help me figure out what I did wrong here. I really like NikNak's version of Francisco Franco, although I think a few things could be fixed on it. First I wanted to give him more accurate decorations, my general concept for Franco is this image:

Now, obviously there isn't much work to do between NikNak's LH and this image. So what I did was craft a medal that looks similar to the one in the image (using parts from Bismarck and Asoka actually) and then I added Meiji's sash. The next thing I was going to do was add shaders to the original model by importing Napoleon's body into Blender (without the skeleton of course) and using Ekmek's method, which I did. When I NifSwapped everything seemed fine except that the Body and the Sash were teh same part (they were joined even in NifSkope), which I realized was going to cause issues with the texturing; and it did.

I am wondering what I could have done incorrectly here, and if anyone could help me fix it. I have attached an image of what I intended to have when I was done (left image from Blender) and what wound up happening (right image from NifSkope). You will see I can't use different files as textures for the Sash and Body. Can anyone help me out with this?

I have attached my files (just a nif and a blend) as well as NikNak's original files. Thanks in advance everyone! :goodjob:
