How To: Make Leaderheads! Ekmek's Guide

Ok... Well I put my LH together (its not shadered yet) and it looks like this in the game.(notice sholder)

What is wrong? is it just bc it is nonshadered or what??

I guess you didn't attach it correctly to the bones. If you followed Ekmek's guide step by step I believe you didn't attach the shoulders to the clavicle bones. Go to blender and take a look at the bones list- there are clavicle bones there. Select the shoulders and attach them to the clavicles.

EDIT: Nevermind if you read the last post.

Does anyone know how I can get the jewel effect from Victoria on the jewel I am using for Chandragupta?

It didn't come with the jewel and I can't copy it over in NifSkope!

Hello all! I posted this question to the general creation/customization thread but was redirected here.

I'm working on my first LH and am getting an error when I try to export the .nif:

Non-UV texture in mesh 'Cube', material 'Material'. Either delete all non-UV textures, or in the Shading Panel, under Material Buttons, set texture 'Map Input' to 'UV'

but when I go to those settings, it looks like I already have Map Input set to UV.

I tried this with the vanilla Catherine LH. I imported the nif into Blender, saved it as a Blend file, then tried to export it as a nif and got the same error message. My export settings look the same as those in the LH guide.

Any suggestions?

I'm sure this is a n00b mistake and appreciate any help. I can also upload my working files if that helps.

...I seem to be having another issue with Chandragupta. It appears as if though I can't shader the turban. It is supposed to be shadered, I have all of the shader files present (I checked, checked again, and triple-checked) and I have done everything correctly. Here's a screen shot of what happens when his turban (and only his turban) isn't shadered as well as a screen shot in NifSkope showing that I am not entirely insane. Has anyone ever seen this before?

And yes, I realize the screen-shot and the NifSkope LHs aren't exactly the same, but trust me, its happening with the latest one too. :(

Maybe the screenshots I posted in message 1369 (on the previous page) can help you.

I got passed the error. I mannually selected the objects (as opposed to 'select all') and the export worked. I think it must be that in the view, I still have a giant black square blocking the LH's chest (can't figure out what I'm missing to get rid of it).

Now on to getting my test into the game. I'm sure I'll have more questions :)

thanks for the help!

@The Capo: For Chandragupta, shouldn't the mehmedII_DIFF.dds (or whatever it's called) be there in the nifskope, too? That should be the dds file the thing is looking for when its shadered, right?

I am pretty sure that the big cube will be invisible in-game.

@ Cybrxkhan; I don't think so, I used nonshader textures for everything else in the LH and that worked fine, I suppose I could give it a shot and see what happens though.

@ Everyone else; any thoughts/comments on that turban shadering business?

I might not be qualified but...

I had a problem w/ that at first. If it is the same problem as me, all you have to do is select just the box and delete it. Im not sure if it's the same problem though...

I have a question, though, How do I change the color of stuff on my LH. I was trying to make a Ferdinand II leader head and when I tried painting Justinian's cape white on a different leader head in blender, the color came out as a block of white in Nifscope... How do I change colors??

Now I need help. I want to add shaders to the Sejong LH. The problem is that when you export it in Blender it screws up his animations. The same happens also with the LH it is based on- Taizong. Who can help me with making it work?
NOTE: Adding shaders in Nifskope is NOT an option- it doesn't work, nitram was wrong.

Wouldn't you do the color changing in the dds file in GIMP (and not in Nifscope)? I've played a little with editing the dds files and that seemed to work.

@Capo
re:jewel
Did you copy over the texture effect in victoria.nif? see screenshot

@Capo
re: turban
thtas a new one but post your file or a screenshot of your setup for the turban. your need the ENV not ENVmask in there too.

@IgorS
How is it screwing up the ani,ations my original meiji was based on taizong. maybe nifswap before import???

@kid anubis.

you don't need the box or camera or light source on start-up I *think* my guide says delete them then go to file and set the blank screen as default.

@ Ekmek. I actually tried doing that, but here is a screen shot of what happens.

To me that doesn't look right, but I saved it, and I guess I'll go check it out in-game now and see what happened there. Also for some reason the colors of the jewels in the images look different, but I didn't edit Chandragupta's at all. :confused:

Yeah, here's the in-game shot after doing that. For some reason the Jewel, Turban, Bindi (forehead decoration), and the eyshadow all seem to have been effected by this and the rest of the LH isn't.

It also seems to me that the jewel doesn't look exactly like it should, it just looks like an effect has been put on the outsdie, this is hard to explain but if you look at Victoria's jewels they look better in-game than this. Any other ideas here? The jewel was going to be a big part of this, so I'd hate to release it unifinished.
