How to not be Racist

Aaaaah, the emancipation of slaves is theft.
That was the first thing I thought, that a lot of what they were saying seemed similar to former slave owners complaining about their loss of property because of having their slaved freed.

So is taxation.
So are health-and-safety controls.
So is a legal minimum wage.
So is, in fact, bankruptcy legislation.

I haven't heard them talk about the minimum wage or bankruptcy legislation, but I know they're against taxation for the rich and complain about health and safety all the time.

As a musician my motivation is to make the best music I can and inspire people the most I can with it.

It would be really efficient for me to make money with music so I could do it full time with optimistic expectations of each work I do, but there’s no meaningful money to be made until I have fans and a whole “scene” that extols me. It’s obviously worth more money in the long run to have pirates enjoy my material than to protect my “IP”

but it’s the sharing of my art, and its worthiness as art, that is the true value.

Not caring about what others think is selfish and is the cause of all the problems in the world.

Not all ideas are equal. One does not have to care about what someone thinks if the thought they have is a wrong one. Otherwise Hitler's ideas of Nazism should be respected and cared for.

And remember it required hatred of Hitler to finally defeat him. So not caring about certain individuals can solve problems rather than being the mother of all problems. Are these "Christians" you live with push-over pacifists?

I think it's less demonic and more not punished enough as a child.

What exactly did you do that was considered racist? Was it towards someone who is Black, Asian, Indian, Native American, Pacific Islander, Celtic, English?

At some point I realized I don’t really care if others make me mad, and similarly others don’t really care either. Sometimes emotions are meaningful and sometimes they aren’t.

I've mentioned this before. They don't care about musicians being paid for their work, they care about record labels and record stores being able to make an excess profit. A musician who gives away their music for free deprives the label and the store from making a profit and so the musician is depriving these people from being able to make a living from their work.

Oh no, not at all. Some of the things I've heard them say about violence and what they would want to do is disturbing, like something from a horror film.

Antisemitism. I thought it was clear that I'm antisemitic.

Uuuum, what denomination are they?

Antisemitism. I thought it was clear that I'm antisemitic.

Did you say these things over the internet? Have you said these things out loud? Is it only in your head? Have others within your church expressed similar views, even out loud?

I don't think they're affiliated with any denomination. If asked they'll just say Christian.

It was something I said out loud. I'm not sure how best to say it but it is something I later found out they were right. Some time ago, I was generally learning history from Youtube videos and podcasts and eventually came up with debunking myths that involve the Nazis and their theories. One comment mentioned how the Nazis theories on race were dis proven because Hitler may have had a Jewish grandmother.

Some time later, they were talking to me about how a Russian official said something about the war and mentioned that Hitler was Jewish. They asked me how that Russian official got that idea. I mentioned Hitler's grandmother and they said that I'm antisemitic and a holocaust denier.

Being misinformed doesn't make you a racist or antisemite. It depends on what you make out of the (mis)information.

At best, I more or less treated it as just a bit of trivia and thought nothing else about it. I wasn't even trying to find out anything about Nazi Germany at the time, more about common myths about modern history.

They are free to think whatever they like. I think differently. They think that musicians, a thousands year old profession, exists to serve record labels, a banking/lending institution for musicians that has only existed for 100 years. They can think whatever they want.

For what it’s worth, there are thousands upon thousands of record labels who financially benefit from increased popularity of their signed artists than they do trying to guard their works. Why base morality on the current winners of an ever changing industry?

I think it ultimately comes from what they see as the failure of the Nintendo DS. Sometime after the 3DS was out they told me about how Nintendo never made as much profit from the DS as they should because people weren't buying the games but instead were buying R4 flash cartridges. I had never even heard of the R4 at that point. They later blamed the failure of the SEGA Dreamcast on piracy, even though back then most people didn't have the internet speeds needed to download games that big and CD burners were still uncommon. They've gone so far now that they consider the existence of the public domain to be immoral. "Anyone who disagrees just wants free stuff."

Do they own like a series of shopfronts that conspire with one another? They seem like some kind of shop owners guild for Christ.

Also if they are really Christian, do they know that one of the stories tells of all the corrupt shop owners perverting the temple by turning it into a market? Seems like hypocrisy for them to be spouting the holiness of shop owners when the Bible clearly hates the rich and shop owners to begin with.

I don't know seems like a set up, like they were just probing for you to say something in order to gain the satisfaction of rebuking you. And to be honest I believed in the Hitler Jewish theory as well for a while and didn't know it was perceived as racist to Jews until Lavrov made the comment. The Hitler Jewish theory was even touted as though it was fact on the History Channel.

Yeah see even you are starting to catch on that their complaints are completely bull crap. These people honestly sound like demented programmers who have failed to ever make an honest and good product in their entire lives and are now jealous and blame society for their own lack of success.

So you already know they have dubious theories of cause and effect.

You are welcome to hold their opinion in high regard for any reasons personal to you.

But I value the well-being of music, musicians, musical innovation, and the enjoyment of music. They would deprive me my future as an artist. And as a listener.

The funny thing is, even the big few record labels that would benefit from guarding their catalogue won’t sign new artists who haven’t achieved independent fame through loss-leading activities of giving away music for free. The biggest labels depend on free and independent distribution as well.

Nothing is more “free stuff” than subsidizing and holding sacrosanct deadweight industries. Why should society fund the existence of record labels (again, banks that lend basically mortgage artists’ music) and simultaneously put, say, the founders and engineers of SoundCloud and other free music distributors out of work?

Because it seems this cult values the ownership class and their right to make money than the labour class and their right to earn decent wages to sustain themselves.

Like I said these people sound like they are a bunch of small time unsuccessful shopfront owners who are struggling because of digitization and blame millennials for not working, or they're a bunch of disgruntled programmers who believe certain societal trends are to blame why they got ran out of the industry and were outcompeted by the bigger guys.
