How to run Civilization IV off of a jump drive

I have computer class in school and most of our time is spent playing Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. I've decided I'd rather be ruling the world so I need to know how to run Civ IV off of a flash drive, if possible.

you would need to have Windows installed on the flash drive and then install civ

I suspect you can just copy civ to a flash drive, and play it, it works for me fine just copying the cive folder around between regular drives.

Dunno about performance, it will be real slow to open, but I'm not sure how much drive activity there is in civ ingame.

I tried copying the folders and I got an error message, don't remember what the message was exactly but it said something was missing.

You got an error while:

1) transferring the files,
2) or when you tried playing on the other computer?

Also, knowing what it said was missing might be useful

Also you might settle for playing Freeciv portable?

You probably need to install it on the PC with the flash drive plugged in, onto the flash drive, so you get the registry entries.

The error message popped up when I tried to play Civ on the other computer.

I dont think the program is inherently portable.
