Probably the same thing. It's just NOLA is, as we saw three years ago, especially vulnerable.
If New Orleans gets hit again, the damned city should just be abandoned. We shouldn't waste anymore tax money just so people can go back to a damned city that happens to be under sea level AND is a hurricane target.
The city wasn't built there for the lulz. It's there because commerce puts it there.
Just about everywhere you live is in some natural disaster zone requiring periodic taxpayer bailout. Hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, earthquakes . . . why should anybody live anywhere?Yeah, I understand a port is there. But I don't see the need for a port requiring a large metropolitan city to support it. If anyone else wants to move there, they should do so with the understanding that we'd let the city flood rather than spend billions to try to keep it from flooding, and they are on their own for replacing their home.

Move to Missouri. There you have a real chance of dying of boredom.

The first landfall will be in Haiti, where it ought to graze that country as a category 1. As far as a second landfall is concerned, the official forecast does not go out that far in time. A US landafall is likely a week away- which is plenty of time for the storm to strengthen. This one bears watching!![]()
I guess that wall being built along the southern land border isn't going to protect us. Has Bush offered amnesty to Gustav yet? Or does he have to steal a job at Overstock.com first?
