I Can Do Better (somewhat Open SG - Read on)

As a bad apple I would suggest moving settler to the forest. :)
Actually :p , that looks like a really good spot right there. I am not an expert on the dynamics of a settler factory, but think that will work!

For the empire, do you have conquests 1.22? Don't worry about your gameplay Mauer. Perfect time to up your game a notch.

Nope, hence why I asked if the game could possibly be a PTW game. It's starting to look more and more like I need to get a copy of C3C :( .

*Looks at the bad apple avatar* Be afraid, be VERY afraid of microbe...

He doesn't scare me. :D

Ok I'll "bite". Put me in there somewhere, and let's get this apple rolling.

I do need some clarifications though.

1. When one of the "bad apple" events happen, does the player stop immediately, or finish out their turns? If they stop immediately, Do they finish their set afterwards?

2. You do realize that Microbe was alluding to disbanding units? If this will be allowed, certain limitations must be put in place, such as type, number, etc.

3. You say the "I can do better players" can jump in when a player can't play his turns in the time alloted, but what is that timeframe? 24hr got it, 48 more to play?

4. Are we playing with a sepcific rulestet? By that I mean are we playing with a certain set of ethics in place, regarding things like RoP rape, scout resource denial, etc?

5. Not to be rude, but you are an unknown quantity. Can we count on you to see this through? I find nothing more annoying than people who disappear.

@Slinger - Really dig that av, though I'm not sure if it's 70x70. :)

@FTE - You can get C3C for about $30 new almost anywhere. You could probably buy it for less on Amazon or Ebay, if you were so inclined.

To Sesn: You finish your turns. If you a leader pops on your 5th turn, you go right to 10, give us your log and then Microbe goes up for one turn.

2: Yes, the rule is he is can do ONE AND ONLY one horrid act. If he disbands one of our units, he has to save and pass the game on. He cannot disband, start a million wars, etc. One and only one act. If I was him, disbanding units wouldn't be the meanest thing. There will always be super powers that could crush us and there will always be something worse than disbanding a unit.

3: Hehe, I knew this would come about. I don't like restriction because when I was on campus, we pretty well just said, "play asap." Some played within hours others a day or two. Just try to be fair. If you have the game for two days and know it will take another day or two, then just say skip/pass. If you want a rule set we can do the 24 hours to claim 48 to play.

4: I thought these were standard rules. I would prefer no cheating/exploits, but if one does come about that you didn't do on purpose, there won't be any problems. However, these rules do not apply to Microbe.

5: I could say that I will finish this until it reaches the end, but lie. So, basically all you can do is trust your heart. Haha, that sounds lame, but I can't really give you more than that. I love this game and I really want to create a name on these forums so I can participate in more.

Start 'er up whenever you are ready Barbslinger.

Please post Leader pops (science/military), anarchy, and civilizations leaving the game in bold.

Replies:

1. Good. Would be annoying to stop and have to wait, especially if Microbe isn't around at the time.
2. Moral of the story? Use up any leaders before you finish your turns.
3. If people are waiting to jump in, you need a point where the turns become fair game, which is why I brought it up.
4. These are standard rules, but if they're voiced now, it leads to less confusion later.
5. I'll give anyone the benefit of the doubt....once. (and your answer really was pretty cheesy ;) )

Ought to be interesting. I'm amazed none of the tens of thousands of members thought of something like this before. Course that's what we have colleges for, right? Certainly not learning!

hehe lernin iz fir lozerz

Feel free to ask a question whenever you want. You are also entitled to change a rule. This isn't my sg alone, 'tis all of yours now.

On #3, you are definately right about people wanting to jump in. No one would ever get the chance to jump in if there wasn't a time limit rule.

Oh my, I almost forgot to write 20 turns for the first person, 10 for everyone else. 1 turn for microbe when the trigger happens and 10 for "I can do better."

Cheese and apples, not my favorite combo but we'll give it a shot. Here we go!

Also, on the I can do better people, I propose one "I can do better per turnset" We are not in the dorm and have a large pool of players to draw from. At 24/48 we may never have an "I can do better" player. Of course, if one player does fail to show the rule still stands.

Sounds good Barbslinger. I made up enough of the rules. You guys sculpture them into perfection. I only know what works good for real life, not on the internet regarding these sg's. I am getting really excited to play this. I hope everyone enjoys this as much as I have before.

So what if he pops up two leaders? Will I get to play two evil moves? :D

Since Locomotive is new here, I assume you guys play with the normal SG rules like no breaking deals, etc. The more honorably you play, they less evil I might be. Of course, if you guys are doing too well, I may have to balance things a little. I'll not kill you before AD but not give you an easy time either. :)

@barbslinger:  very nice! Can some artist make it into a real avatar?

:ar15: :aargh: Well, considering we are agricultural/religious, I don't think two will ever be popped. It will have to be a group decision if it ever happens. If we say yes to this, I will be praying to god that we don't get two leader pops when we are switching governments and then some civ takes out another. If that happens, we say good-game and make a new one :)

ICDB01-4000

0 – Moving the worker to the wheat reveal another wheat and I begin to wonder if this is a game the UCLA crew has tried to play before. Did they finally find the site and want the challenge of seeing if we could beat it when they couldn’t? this is a nice site and the Bad Apple was wrong on the move to the coast with all these BG. Settler farm + coming up.
4000 – I plant where I stand and turn off research for cash. We are at the S end of a continent and will have to work our way north with Gallics.
3950- Irrigating wheat. Waiting to explore. Leaving the pop on forest to get one warrior in field quickly heading north
3800 –Warrior builds>another, head north and we work the wheat. Head north, up river.
3750 – Move pop to wheat to get 5fpt and growth in 2 with no waste. Build road..
3650 – Lux to 30% with growth. Still heading NW up river.
3600 – Road completes move to bg. Silks and a non-goodyhut 3-4 tiles away to NW. New warrior heads W. Warrior and growth and 4.
3450 – Furs 6 tiles north. We are definitely at the southern tip of a continent.
3400 – MP Warrior>Granary in 12 and mining and then chopping for shields. Lux lowered a notch.
3100 – Road completes move to chop. New groeth is a clean 3 food with granary in 6.

Saved at 3000bc. Try to time the growth and granary at 2-2 so that food box is a ten fill.

Btw - Our opponents our a mixed lot tilted towards scientific-

Greek - Sci,Com - CB, Alpha
Arab - Rel,Exp - CB, Pott
Sumerian - Sci,Rel - Pott,BW
American - Exp,Ind - Pott, Mason
Babs - Sci,Rel - BW,CB
English - Sea,Com - Alpha,Pott
German- Sci,Mil - BW,WC

We are Rel,Agr - Pott,CB.

the only early twofers look to be Germany and America for WC or Masonry. Let's hope they are on our continent.
