I don't see many praise for Industrious trait but last game with De Gaulle I sometimes built Forge before Granary! So...

I had Marble near me and good enough safe space to expand. So I worked on all early techs with Marble Wonder for later failgold. Marble + Ind trait give 150% boost. And I could build them quickly to near completion before failgold - so I got maximum from failgold.

Been Charismatic means I went for Stonehenge. My attempt to research Metal Casting myself failed, as I am Industrious + Marble I decided to make Oracle. I specifically discovered Pottery to open Metal Casting.

With Metal Casting I traded for Writing / Iron Working and become leader of the game (on Immortal).

I chopped Forge and failfolded Polytheism/Mansonary Wonders (and some other), get Parthenon + Great Library.

Effective failgold allows me to keep more cities until Currency.

Absence of pressure from rivals (I replayed opening several times so know this) allowed me to focus on production and high research rate.

In my earlier attempts I made too many cities, not failgold early Wonders (like Great Wall!), build only 2 workers, waited time with workers, improved important tiles too late.

That's my best game ever so far. Even though I've just googled about Irrigation spreading because I didn't understand why Rice and Corn are worse than seafood. 3 month of playing and still lack knowing some game concepts...

I see one mistake so far - forget to send scouts to rivals territory ))

I added T0 Wordlbuilder save as I played it with BUG/BULL MOD installed into separate directory...

Forget to mention that I play with "No Tech Brokering". Wordbuilder save preserves this settings ((

Being tech lead means that I can trade for many techs (blue is Free Tech of Oracle and related trade):

It's 325bc and the AI only have 4-5 cities. What level are you playing at? If game is too easy you should play at higher levels. 4-5 cities for 325bc for the AI seems very low.

For anyone trying this map.
You need to add in barb techs and check the Ai have the right starting techs/units. E.g. On deity the AI start with 1 settler less archers and only 2 techs.

It's Immortal, I mentioned that in the middle of the post but map size is small ... and I added two extra civs.

That keeps Immortal beatable for me. I didn't think I would share the game...

Probably this requires separate topic... (EDIT here https://forums.civfanatics.com/thre...culture-wheel-if-i-remember-correctly.649934/ )

Why is it important to give Barb 4 tech (hunting/archery/agriculture/wheel if I remember correctly)?

To keep Barbs on the level with AI bonuses of Deity? What is the rules for Immortal?

One I Played with raging barbs - it complicates game enough to change early research and production path significantly.

E.g. On deity the AI start with 1 settler less archers and only 2 techs.
Is this due to the save been an export from Immortal game?

I saw that Club games come with several Worldbuilder scripts depending on level...

Probably need to replace main game .dll instead of using separate mod installation. That way I can enjoy saves of others and it simplifies sharing of mine...

I missed the immortal comment.

On a small map spawn busting should of been easy. There would of been a lot of units on a relatively small land area.

You had aggressive Ai selected and no tech brokering. I cant see raging barbs. On a small landmass like this 3-4 warriors spawn busting would probably of stopped any barbs spawning.

Without archery no barb archers will spawn. Barb cities that form would be defended by warriors. Albeit with a small map I doubt many barbs cities would have the chance to spawn.

If the AI can only build 3-4 cities they will be a lot easier to beat. Likely have much smaller stacks too. Taking 1-2 cities would cause them to capitulate.

I played with BULL dll v1.2 from https://sourceforge.net/projects/civ4bull/files/BULL for BTS 3.19/BULL 1.2/

I checked changes for this version: https://sourceforge.net/p/civ4bull/code/commit_browser and v1.2 includes "r181: Updated Unofficial Patch to 1.50".

Probably for that reason I have Archers on Immortal.

What is interesting there are release 1.3 and an integration of Unofficial Patch to 1.60 but authors didn't make binary release for downloading...

Lol.
I play for almost 2 years and i am still not knowing everything. Most of the people here play from much longer and still learning things, so don't even imagine you will learn in only 3 months. ;)

Gumbo only mentioned adding barb techs because you provided a worldbuilder save, which was created from your normal start in which the barbs would have the required techs for that difficulty level. It has nothing to do with mods or patches.

IMO, De Gaulle is a Top 5 Leader
