I need regent training.

Hello all. As one who's just stepped up to Monarch, I could use a game myself. Got room for any more?

I'll sit and watch as I have started regent

@Ankka: I have a slightly higher resolution, so it all displays without any scrolling. I guess people still have to scroll. :blush:

We're onto the next page so it doesn't really matter now.

Well.. What now?
I posted my choice of action on page 1.

Well, we need a roster:

Zavior <--- up!
DBear (On Deck)
Ankka
Tomoyo

I think we should move the worker first. (In fact, always move the worker first unless you start on a bonus tile or BG)

Only problem I see... Where is the save? :P

EDIT: The picture was the link. Stupid of me :crazyeye:

15 or 20 turns, please, probably, although, it's your game.

4000 BC:
Move worker SE to wheat
Settle Berlin.
Warrior -> Warrior
Prebuilding Granary with Barracks wont work, cause of militaristic trait.
Sci 100% towards pottery.

3950 BC:
Worker -> Mine

3850 BC: ZZZ

3800 BC:
Build warrior -> Towards mountain

3750 BC: ZZZ

3700 BC: ZZZ

3650 BC: Spot orange border from mountain
Warrior ready next turn.
Warrior -> One tile SW
Worker: Mine finished -> Road

3600 BC:
Switch build to barracks; ready in 7. MM to get Barracks in 10, just in time get pottery & granary.
Fortify Warrior at Berlin.

3550 BC:
Warrior -> Explore to south
Spot Dark Blue Border directly south of us.
2 vics are very close to us.

3500 BC:
Cultural borders expand
Berlin grows in size
Worker finishes road.
Worker -> Towards wheat NW of berlin.
Since Berlin grew in size, I MM barracks to finish in 4(pottery also in 4)

There were my 10 turns.

EDIT: Feel free to comment, I'll play 10 turns more.

Zavior said:
3950 BC:

Always, always irrigate bonus food tiles in the beginning of the game!!!!

Otherwise, it looks good. Although, I'll play a set of shadow turns.

Aren't I so good? This is what I got after twenty turns: :mischief:

Ankka, DBear, get over here and play shadow turns!

@Zavior: You should have irrigated the wheats. All of them. That is the main problem, and it slowed your growth. Compare yours to mine and you'll see that I'm one city size ahead of you. (Just looking at Berlin of course)

Another question:

1) What will be our short-term goals?

We should try making contact with 1 civ we dont know in our continent, but this isn't the highest priority yet. We build new cities, many of them and grab as much land as possible. I was aiming for settler factory at Berlin.
We might wanna get rid of babylonians, if we get iron hooked up somewhere, I doubt that though. Archers should do also.

EDIT: Going to get some sleep now, its 2am here.
See you tomorrow.

lurker's comment: Tomoyo's off to a nice start. Since you're playin' vanilla, you don't have to worry about the ivory as anything but a lux. The question is where you gonna go now? Babs to the SE, Romans (?) to the SW. Does F10 work in vanilla? Think about the placement of Leipiz in Tomoyo's post. What can you do with it?

@ Tomoyo - that start is just about perfect for a trainer and all the directions you can take this game.

We'll want Ankka and DBear to play shadows. I think so at least.

Scrap the roster: We're doing shadow turns!

Shadow turns... okkay.

You see, Tomoyo, I went to sleep last night. it was already midnight... :p

I'll edit them int othis post when I get them played.

4000BC [Preturn]: Move the worker W and spot two more wheats. Settle Berlin... and what do we see? another game on forest! Quite a start you got, Tomoyo.

Set research on Pottery 100%.

3950BC [1] - 3850BC [3]: Nothing... waiting for warrior to be built, irrigation to get ready.

IBT: Berlin warrior > warrior.

3800BC [4] - 3700BC [6]: Warrior goes S-W-W to the mountain and spots a orange border. This world is crowded...

3650BC [7] - 3600BC [8]: Meet the English. Trade Bronze working + warrior code for alphabet + 10 gold.

IBT: Berlin warrior > rax as a prebuild for the granary.

3550BC [9] - 3500BC [10]: A Babylonian warrior comes from the East to meet us. Trade Warrior code to them for ceremonial burial + 10 gold.

capitol's borders expand... and so do some English and Babylonian ones, too. Man, they're close! :eek:

3450BC [11]: Speaking of a crowded world, there's purple borders in the West.

I think an early archer rush would be effective now. We should try and get some land to expand.

IBT: We meet the Iroquois. They have nothing to trade.

We research pottery > start iron working to get swords out fast to dominate the world.

3400BC [12]: Decide not to pop the hut as Berlin is unprotected.

IBT: The Babs pop the hut and get barbs. We lose our worker. :aargh: At least it got the irrigation on the wheat done..

3350BC [13]: Warrior to Berlin.

IBT: One barb suicides no Berlin... the other one pillages the irrigation. :aargh:

3300BC [14] - 3000BC [20]: Exploring a little.. waiting for granary to get ready. Would have been next turn.

I didn't really do good this time... lost my worker... granary build was slow... didn't do as good as usually.

training_shadow_3000bc.jpg

I hesitated to build in place whicht Tomoyo did, because it would overlap with cultural borders of Babylon, which is capital.

Maybe I should continue with my turns now?

@ zavior - right ;)
settle on the spot - with 2 irrigated wheats... lets boogie
worker to SE, work those wheat.
build - warrior x 2, barrack prebuild for granary.

and i LOVE the gerries. especially if i want to rule the world

@ tomoyo
am i in?
are we doing a shadow turn game? or a 10 turn rotation-debate game?
