All men have a latent potential for homosexuality embedded in their pscyhe. If we didn't, the handsome men of the world would have no friends (which would be such a pity). Opinions?

N. B. I'm not making a case for or advocating homosexuality in any way. This is just a simple hypothesis which I am prepared to back up if someone provides me with incentive in the way of a good, civil counterargument.

I am amazed by the wonderful and brilliant logic of this truly unrefutable assertion.

Non sequitur much?

Why should (a) latent homosexuality in all males result in (b) handsome men of the world having friends?

i cant follow your logic.

why do ugly men have friends?

There are a lot more ugly people than okay-looking or handsome people, if you haven't noticed.

lolwut? I don't know how you reached that conclusion.

If any man could become gay with certain stimulus, you would expect to not find any differences in a population of self-identified gay men. That is not the case.

So there's no such thing as platonic relationships?

I move that that same sex attraction is actually based off of a need for intimacy and companionship from the same gender.

Handsome men have friends not due to latent homosexuality, but to latent pack mentality and tribalism.

I ... don't understand this theory.

You might have made a better case by suggesting that all men have the potential for homosexuality, because it is possible for most men to acknowledge handsomeness in men at all.

Not sure how I feel about that, but I think most men can recognize non-sexual beauty in "handsome" men. It must be the case, because men's advertising often consists of this kind of male.

i have. why do they have friends?

Probably because they find it easier to befriend other ugly folk. Lasting friendships need some chemistry, which a large inequality in physical attractiveness can impede.

Except...why would simply acknowledging a man being handsome infer a potential for homosexuality?

Unless you are trying to tie such recognition with sexual desire, well, thats going to be a really hard thing to allege.

Yeah, but mens advertising doesnt succeed based upon latent homosexuality, but rather on a wide variety of other factors. I guess homosexual attraction could be "a" reason, but certainly not the only reason. For example, I pay attention to men's advertising not cause I think the models look good, but because I want to look appealing to my spouse and also for my own self-ego by possibly wearing the clothing that is being modeled.

Iv'e heard rumors that some handsome people actually have a fun personality.

Weird huh?

ok, ugly men have ugly friends because they (the friends) are ugly.
also, ugly men have handsome friends because they're handsome.

i 'm beginning to see the pattern here.

To people who have wondered how I made the connection between latent homosexuality and handsome men not having any friends if it were not the case, I simply posit that jealousy needs a counterbalancing force for it not to manifest.

Right, I was acknowledging non-sexual beauty one can find in someone of the same-sex. And I think subconsciously you must still identify male models in advertising as sexual beings to emulate, or it wouldn't work IMO.
