ICNES I: Troubling Future

The African Union declares the withdrawl of its scientists from the People's Repulbic of China, effective immediately.

ooc umm WTH is going on? why are so many people quiting and stuff from so many good NESs?

Everyone is in a pissy mood today i guess. *shrugs*

It will all blow over. I WILL MAKE IT BLOW OVER*takes out flamethrower and laughs maniacly*

Talk about anticlimax... Kentharu, technically you're too late.

to late to what? withdraw scientists? when i say effective immediately i just say that to sound dramatic, i mean next update

Its already been ascertained that I didn't fire the nuke. Symphony's Sons of Liberty thing did not me...so theres no reason to withdraw scientists.

I am afraid (my nation is) so im withdrawing, but other wise no other action will be taken, i don't want anything to happen to then thats all

Actually, I didn't fire the nuke. I gave your people orders to fire a missile, and they did so, although apparently, this far more difficult act succeeded, while attempts to cause a general alert did not. I specifically said to try and scramble Chinese forces in the attempt to provoke some people with itchy trigger fingers to start shooting, thus faking an "attack" and provoking SEA-CO into shooting back. But none of that happened, in part because SEA-CO... doesn't have defensive plans...

Furthermore, the nuke wasn't on the missile, because everybody, in a fit of altruism, decided to destroy all but about 15 warheads on the whole of the earth. The missile was a cover story, and it'd be pretty easily to tell what actually happened from studying the blast patterns, though given the bomb was "one of the largest" (I presume this to mean "in excess of 10MT") there won't exactly be that much left to study.

Lastly, you don't know any of the above, and as far as the world is concerned, a missile of Chinese origin, from China, under Chinese military command, was fired at Japan, and Tokyo did explode in nuclear hellfire, and hey, somebdoy's gotta pay for it.

Anyway, being a terrorist conspiracy doesn't particularly work when it's just given away in public by the mod someone actually is conspiring very heavily and hey, these two events are linked. That pretty much just dooms you, and I'll admit when I first saw that, I wasn't very happy. That's mostly why I quit. That and you weren't answering my PMs and seemed likely to rat me out, mysterious benefactor, though I was well-prepared for such. ;)

But I nuked the Olympics. Hopefully Swissempire's terrorists will have an example to follow now. :p

I'm sorry Symphony. There was too much frickin' pressure. 'How did this happen,' 'What about this,' 'It's impossible.' I cracked. I didn't see people horde the mod like this in any of the NESes I was in or read. I'm so sorry.

What Symphony said was right. He scrambled the Chinese defense systems, put through false orders, and launched a long range missile. At the same time, a nuclear bomb was smuggled into Tokyo. When the missile hit the water, they detonated the nuke, causing what seemed to be a nuclear strike against SEA-CO. The SEA-CO administration failed to have any reasonable defense plan and did not counter-attack. This lead to htis OOC crisis which lead to the failure of the Son of Liberty, because of me. Next time anything like this happens, I'll keep my mouth shut and not jeopardize anything. Sorry Symphony, really am.

EDIT- You would have lost anyway. Israel immediately contacted Canada after the strike.

Well, since the cat's out of the bag, Israel gave me weapons and guns to kill Canada and Mexico, and the Slavic Union gave me two of their seven nukes. They have the largest remaining stockpile in the world. At any rate, I still could've made things very, very nasty for Canada, and the world at large, given my control of information services.

Anyway, enjoy your world war, gentlemen.

This NES has officially failed...

Well considering the amount of critical information divulged I would have to say yes.

Israel informed Canada of this cell. The Mossad was supplying them, and knew everything about them. So, JTF2, the Mossad and the Mexican intelligence could have located and terminated them.

This is all OOC btw: Everybody thinks China nuked SEA-CO.

Also, I wouldn't be surprised if this NES failed. I'm not saying it will, but dn't be surprised if it doesn't make it past the next update. (Does anybody have a map of the world in 1900?)

Have stats been updated? How much longer till my Cure for Cancer and AIDS project is finished, that will show the world I didn't do anything...

No big deal....now you can make an even better NES.

Uh... no. They made contact with a single New York cell only, and that was representative of only a small fraction of a distributed network. Did you totally forget everything I wrote in Group Organization? Even the group's own members, up to and including its leader were incapable of identifying other cells, as all the contact was anonymous and remote. Exterminating such an organization would be extremely difficult, as each cell is virtually autonomous and even if you manage to kill a quarter, half, or all but one, that single cell can keep operating until it too is finally destroyed. All that would occur is a gradual reduction in capability, and it would take massive quantities of effort.

If I may suggest one thing, it's paying closer attention to what's actually said in orders. Such as the above. As another example, I explicitly stated that if the nuclear attack occured, transmissions were not to occur during the Olympics, precisely to prevent this sort of link from occuring.

lurker's comment:
, but the players will now act otherwise, its impossible to not be influenced by this OOC stuff.

As a rule you should never divulge stuff publicly as a mod, outside the update of course, let the players tell the world what their intelligence service have found out, or indeed that they have an intellignece service at all ;)

I mean they would have wiped out the New York cell and would have tightened security a lot. I missed the section on the ads during the nuke strike. I will pay more attention next time. I was kind of rushed. I don't really know if i want to continue this NES anymore. It's way too far-fetched. I might end it at the end of the day. A modern NES is too complicated for me. I'll do the stats now. Later on I might close this NES. I don't feel like continueing this.
