What would you think about an extra unique power for every civ?

Lately, I read some history about certain civs and I came up with some extra unique powers which would give the mod an even more historical 'taste':

Here are some things I came up with.

Spain: Power of Reconquista/Inquisition
Religion in conquered cities other than state religion will be removed and/or replaced

Russia: Power of Espionage
-50% espionage costs

Vikings: Power of Fishing
Coast/ocean tiles give 1 extra food

America: Power of Emancipation
If you have the emancipation civic: 100% trade route yield with other civs with emancipation and/or extra immigration from civs without emancipation

Netherlands: Power of Tolerance
No stability penalty from religions and/or no diplomacy hit for state religion

France: Power of Cuisine
1 happiness from pigs and cows

Portugal: Power of Colonization
Extra stability for every new city until 1850 AD

England: Power of the Commonwealth
1 extra trade route per city for each vassal

Japan: Power of Isolationism
-50% chance of plague spreading and/or no unfavorable apostolic palace or UN resolutions

India: Power of Pacifism
Other civs get diplomacy penalty for declaring war on India (You declared war on our friend) and/or chance of attacking units from other civ to flip to India or be deleted

Greece: Power of Tourism
Extra commerce bonus from 1900 AD? for every wonder, like 10 gold/turn

Rome: Power of Bread and Circusses
Extra happiness from wheat with amphitheatres/theatres

Germany: Power of Nationalism
Civ/cities more likely to revolt/respawn and/or less likely to vassalize to another civ or 'breaks free' more easily

Mongolia: Power of the Khanates
No penalties for having vassals and/or extra happiness bonus for each vassal

Arabia: Power of the Dunes
1 extra gold bonus on desert tiles (including oasis)

Persia: Power of Zoroastrianism
All cities without religion have a 'religion bonus' (if there is no state religion).

China: Power of Oriental Wisdom
Extra research bonus for every buddhist, confusianist or taoist temple

Babylonia: Power of Writing
+25% research with libraries

Egypt: Power of the Nile
1 (extra) food on every river tile

I think this is a very good idea! These are very good UP's. :goodjob:

A few things I would like to say:

Japan: Power of Isolationism
-50% chance of plague spreading and/or no unfavorable apostolic palace or UN resolutions
I think that the second part might be a little overpowered; maybe there should be a time limit (similar to the Maya and Greek UP's), like 1853, which is the start of the Meji Restoration (I think) to balance it.

Babylonia: Power of Writing
+25% research with libraries
I also think that this could be a little overpowered, especially in the hands of the human; maybe 10 or 15 percent?

Also, what about the Incas, Aztecs, Mayas, Ethiopians, Khmer, and Malianese (am I forgetting any?)?

I suggest:

Incas: The Power of Split Inheritance
While in monarchy, recieve a free unit in the capital and a bit of gold every *amount that would not completely change game balance* turns.

Aztecs: The Power of Tribute
Every city generates 1 extra commerce (or even 1 gold).

Mayas: The Power of Architecture
-10% production cost for buildings (not wonders) until *some time*.

Ethiopians: The Power of Religion(?)
+1 happiness in cities with state religion.

Khmer: The Power of Sinification(?)
+.1 culture per 1% of Chinese culture in a city(?).

Malianese: The Power of Ecological Imperialism
+1 stability (temporarily) for each forest cut down (possible overpowered).

Also, maybe extra UP's would destroy game balance; but I still think this is a great idea!

England needs something to help the colonial empire.

I propose an UP that cuts maintenance costs from distance to palace. Call it The Power of Indirect Rule.

It also lessens the incentive for Britain to adopt State Property.

I dislike UP's tied to vassals because I dislike the vassal mechanics itself.

The Power of Bureaucracy is a better term, bureaucracy is what enabled the colonial empires, it should reduce the costs per city.

Portugal should be able to build lumbermills on jungles

Russia should get reduced number of cities cost and/or only half the research penalty for size

But bureaucracy is nothing unique to the British Empire, while indirect rule is.

Although I find two UPs unnecessary, this one really should replace the useless drill promotion UP.

The vikings one is really overpowered. Most of their cities are coastal at the start. Can you imagine how unbalanced it would be? Vikings with size 20 cities in 1000 AD? And it's not even good for them - they get too much food and become susceptible to plague.

Their cities will never become that big, because they have not much food on the land-tiles. But maybe it would be better to erase some Scandinavian food bonuses if such a UP would be included.

I didn't think about it very long when I wrote it, I was just brainstorming.

Cities would work only on sea-tiles. Making Vikings extremely populous and tech advanced civ with crappy production. Is it our goal?

You could change the Viking UP to + 1 extra gold on each ocean/coast.

Ethiopia: Power of Nativity

Chance Native units will flip to Ethiopia if they are within borders

and/or more chance of Native cities to flip to Ethiopia if they are within 10 tiles of capital.

Khmer
Power of the Rice fields
+5 food +2 unhealthiness per city for each rice under ur control

That's more a weakness than a power.

Good idea for Ethiopia, i no nothing about Ethiopian history prior to the 20th century. So not sure whether that correct

Khmer
Power of the Rice fields
+5 food +2 unhealthiness per city for each rice under ur control

That's more a weakness than a power.

and how is Khmers a weakness?
The reason y i chose that was because +5 food because their capitol was the largest city in the world 4 2 hundred years. The reason i chose the sickness was because a plauge killed the entire population in just 2 years.
Maybe change Khmers 2 this
Power of the rice fields
+5/10 food +2 sickness in capitol for every person in the capitol

Power of the rice fields
+5/10 food +2 sickness in capitol for every person in the capitol

Every person???

You mean specialists, no?

It maybe historical, but the sickness is a disadvantage in comparison to other civs who only have advantages.
Also, they already have the Baray which boosts their population.

Maybe change to: +1 food in city for every food resource, in addition no health bonuses from food resources or: plague kills more population

You could call it the Power of Noodles

You could call it the Power of Noodles
The Khmer seem to have a thing for pathetic-sounding UP names

I mean:
say Khmer has 6 people in Anchor, or what ever the capitols name is
the city gets an additional 30 food and 12 sickness...
after writing it out it seems over rigged (the city could easily get 100 people in it by the 11th century)
so maybe 3 food 1 sickness...

There is no point in that at all. Sickness reduces growth: 1 more unhealthiness than healthiness means a loss of one food. So, 3 food minus 1 food means a nett gain of 2 food. There is absolutely no point to do that, other than to make the civ more vulnerable to the plague, which is not a unique "power". More useful could be: "recieves hammers for cutting jungle" (like cutting a forrest).
