Ideas for C2C

I am working on a Friedlander SkyShade at Planetary Defenses. Its main purpose is to protect against natural (and unnatural) disasters from the Sun. One trouble is that we already have a lot of defensive buildings, particularly at Advanced Shielding, and I also envision a Subterranean City at Subterranean Exploration which gives Nuke protection. I don't want to overdo it on defenses. As far as asteroid impact mitigation goes, that should probably come earlier than Planetary Defenses. Maybe Ion Beams.

Black holes are a good idea (for the game; in actuality, I try to keep away from black holes). I am working on a Kugelblitz Power Plant at Singularity Stabilization, together with a Kugelblitz Factory that might produce a new Kugelblitz bonus. It's fun to say Kugelblitz. The power plant would be a regular building rather than a wonder, and I might restrict it to Interstellar Colonies (imagine the NIMBYs).

Cities on water is a topic of its own, that seems to be (at least right now) beyond the scope of this mod. The idea is rather old, but it will take a long time to happen.

Regarding the place in the tech tree, I don't think humans need to become amphibian to colonize the sea. Technology based settling could occur much earlier.

I would love to see ocean cities, but I'm not planning on attempting that. In the meantime, I do have a couple of synthetic ocean surface and deep sea colonies under development (at Marine Architecture and Abyss Colonization respectively) that can be built in coastal cities. At Human Transmutation, I plan on adding a Human Mod (which I am developing using the Culture mechanism) that allows underwater breathing, thereby greatly improving the performance of underwater cities.

Now that I think about it, now that we have terrain types, I don't think the mechanism for an ocean city would be fundamentally different from that for space colonies.

There are some interesting concepts out there on colonization of Antarctica, which might become an attractive place to live if global warming gets out of control. As far as deserts, there are some proposals for terraforming them using engineered bacteria, atmospheric water generators, and other technologies. Even millennia past, humans managed to live in deserts and Ice Age Siberia, though building prosperous cities is another matter.

Toffer, DH and I were working on depth layering of water tiles and submergence rules. I don't expect a full manifestation of all that the version cycle after the next but I've already done a lot more for this version than expected and still have yet to cap it off with a lot of AI work (and some immediate xml efforts coming right up.) Anyhow, the longer I'm working on this project, the more 'a long ways off' doesn't feel so far away.

On some of these wonders you might want to suggest that they could be build by a Great Person. They can almost always be built by a Great Engineer because that is what he does, but some could be done by other GP also.

For example a Great Artist could build "The Scream" or "Lakalaka" while the Great Prophet or Great Scientist or both could build "Kabbalah".

Yes, it is insignificantly. Main idea - these WW are tied to specific culture.

I like the idea of great works. Actually, I was thinking some time ago that it would be cool if certain wonders could only be built by a great person. Theory of Evolution, Theory of Everything etc by great Scientists; these wonders here by great Artists...

This looks like a return to vanilla in some ways. Is it really necessary to make these works rely on one culture? I have the feeling that this is totally against the spirit of C2C, which will become even more apparent when the present cultures are completely gone, as seems to be the (long-term) direction of the mod.

Another reason why this might not be a good idea is the fact that this system of great works can never be extended beyond our present era.
