iEspaa es numero dos!(Spain is number two)

@Elta, I guess we just use different brands of the language?

Know I don't think I've ever heard anyone say "Ustedes hablais".

Side topics to help you out:

Cupas as in ?Lo cupas o no lo cupas? it comes from the root word Occupar (Occupied). I.e. do you need it or don't you need it? - It is not a "real" word but, it is as real as ain't or Y'all in American English - get used to seeing it on forums and what not.

A la mehor - for the better. People will use this phrase for everything - for the better we die on the plane - for the better I'll get cancer - for the better it dosen't rain anymore.

Don't think it's sarcasm it's just how people talk. (Dumb people  when ever I mention that it is not a "for the better" situation they just look at me all confused like)

Todo el mundo - the whole world, often used instead of everyone dosen't all ways mean that literally.

-I'll put in more as I think of em.

I love Spain( me encanto)! I've only been once, but it was the best trip of my life. I have officially decided that Spain is my second favorite country.(Sorry UK:p )
I'm learning spanish right now and would love to know more about the country. Gracias.

I love Spain too. I lived there for 3 months, had a brilliant time ( I had a spanish girlfriend), a really intersting country, they have their own culture which I love. I still go there for my holidays, camping in the north at Santander...

It was alot cheaper before the Euro, has anyone else noticed?

I love Spain too! :D

Never been there, unfortunately. Two of my most important dreams were to visit Italy and Spain. I visited Italy last year, stayed there 2 months, but still didn't manage to get to Spain.

Cuando era mas joven, podia hablar mucho espanol, pero perdi todo.

I see you can still speak a little! :)

Es muy dificil, porque no tenia un clase de espanol desde que mi "sophmore" ano a Kent Island HS. :)

Spain rocks, it is my second favourite country in Europe after Italy. I already visited Madrid, Catalunia and most of southern Spain; next year I plan on visiting Galicia (which by coincidence is the land of my paternal grandfather, who was from Orense) and perhaps extend the trip to northern Portugal, a country that I have never been to.

The main cities I went to were Barcelona, Madrid, Cordoba, Zaragoza and Léon , not in that order. I saw the coast as well, beautiful.

That is odd, since Fidel Castro's relatives are also from Galicia. Celts are still giving troubles....

(Franco was also from Galicia, BTW, That could be a good celtic Leader too... LOL)

I have just heard a lo mejor used to mean "probably".

And that would be correct. Literal translation is 'to the better' as Elta said, but that sounds wrong in english, probably is better translation.

It is rather a difference between formal and informal spanish. usted/ustedes is formal and tu (vos in argentina)/vosotros is informal. Formal form is more frequent in latin america, It is also used in Spain, but only in very formal situations, not in the pub or in the street.

I don't have any hispanic ancestors:(

I got North Africa:mad: What's so cool about them?

I guess the American in me makes up for all that.:smug:

North Africa eh?, I recall you saying yur mullato before right? I am aware that Rome even had Sone of it's best Soilders were from north africa (Yes they were black guys not just berbers they used the word Preto when describing these people so I am pretty sure they were what we would call black people)

There is a very high chance that you have some form of Roman in you. Did you ever notice the * in our cencus that says Hispanic my be of any race? it's because it would take to long to put in Indio,Meztiso,(Insert all European latinos),Mullatos,Zambos,Castizo - The million other ethnic terms we have I am half white so I am still 3/4th european so do I check the Castizo box? wait my Spanish side was part sephardim (Spanish Jews ) and Gitano (Spanish Gypsy) .......I prefer the Latino box there are alot of asian people in Mexico and they are all Latinos if they say they are.

So ?Who is Latino? Anyone who says they are.;) :king:
