If postcount doesn't count...

Has it ever been removed?
It was hidden (Though still viewable via the Member's list) which lead to a massive protest against it. I recall people putting their post count in their signature.

So it counts

to some people

and spammers
-no they aren't people

But I like the idea of making H&J non-counting (and OT if the intellectual threads had a separate place)

If intellectuality plays a role only certain posters should be allowed a post count!

I really don't understand the logic of not having post count in some areas.

You post count should be equal to the amount of posts you have made on this forum, regardless which subsection it was in.

Removing postcount in the OT was tried in the OT in Apolyton and failed miserably. It did absolutely nothing to cut spam, and made it hard to search the OT; and Apolyton used the same software as CFC.

To be honest, I don't know why the mods don't use PCRs as punishments here as opposed to Apolyton; I guess Apolyton did it a lot because it actually *had* a culture based on post count...

If offenders were hit by 1000 pc reductions, I am pretty sure that you would see changes in behavior among many OT posters.

From personal experience i would urge the administration to not concern themselves with the post count of the users. It really is an unnecessary piece of aggravation.

Wonder how many weeks it would be before Perf would be back to zero

'The intellectual threads'?

The eighth wonder of the world has been made: an intelligent OT thread!

There are some gems, like many "ask a ..." threads and some have some great discussion, but most is rubbish.

That's a thead from 2005, that pretty much every forum has. Think the Off-Topic moderator notice thread.

Try again, and be serious.

It has new posts, just because a thread was started 2 years ago doesn't mean it's spam. Usually it means the opposite if it hasn't been bumped a long time somewhere in between.

Would you say the OT notice board represents OT as a whole? I wouldn't. Same goes for that thread. It's been there from the very creation of the forum, for crying out loud! :shake:
