If you have the chance to change to world to how you visualize it would you take the opportunity. If you take the challenge, all free-will of people already in power will be temporary taken away, so that every one in power will follow your orders. They will retain their intelligence and abilities, except they will not oppose you. However, they and normal citizens will still be able to see the benefits or flaws of your decisions, even though you may use propaganda for your benefit. After a certain amount of time, you'll have to return free-will back to the people, but now they would be living in your ideal society.

Would you take the opportunity?
If yes what general direction would you explore? ie: more medical focus, space travel, religion etc.

If not, why not? Because you don't want the period where you infring free-will? Too much of a challenge? The world is already perfect? or any other reason.

if you were to be given this, i would have to turn it down for the simple reason that the changes that would be required need internal changes in the basic ideas, hopes, and needs of people on a nearly worldwide basis, the only way this will occur is over a long period of time (50+ years) and would actually be ruined if any one person was in control (the idea would be to have people become more informed as to religious beliefs and create the new government because of a basic change in the way they look at life)

oh how I would love that chance - and for that very reason be forced to turn it down......

seriously, it is like Tolkien's ring!

1. Create a one world government.
2. Establish a universal legal system.
3. Make English the official language for civil affairs.
4. Erase all national borders, allow free and unfettered immigration, from anywhere, to anywhere.
5. Ban the use of the internal combustion engine for personal transportation. Encourage development of alternative fuel sources.
6. Establish a permanent, self sustaining settlement on the moon.

Then I'd hand power back, and work on my golf swing.

The obliteration of the Midlands would be high up on my list of priorities...

Pretty good action IMO, i will just add, at the first step, a selective memory erasing about religious beleive and racial sterotype. 99,99999 % of the world's problem are solve.:goodjob:

1. Democracy in China and all other countries
2. Chinese Democracy ;)
3. Research not only into extending life but into make those extended years worthwhile.
4. I wouldn't go for a world government but more regianl organisations like the EU working together.
5. More emphasis on science.
6. Prevent fat people from sueing McD's.

It would be way too easy to nave no free-willed people. You can simply make the most of your reign, and when it's about the time to surrender power, build yourself a 1000 m tall statue and blast it into orbit. ;)

Aaron Burr's Ten-Point Plan.

1: Establish English as the official language.
2: End immigration entirely.
3: Make sales taxes/tariffs the only taxes.
4: Limit voting rights (as previously discussed).
5: Make Catholicism the state religion.
6: Abolish socialized education.
7: Put the militia system in place (vs. a mostly standing army).
8: Prioritize the domination of space.
9: Put an end to all gun control.
10: Require new architecture to be aesthetically pleasing.
