I'd flee to my grandmother's homeland, Brazil! :p
I have a strange urge to visit Brazil, but there's a bunch of other places I want to see aswell.

The heat wouldn't bother me too much, and I would like to see the rain forest while there is still some of it to check out. That would be a neat grandpa story... when I was a lad, we had rainforests! *staring across a desert plain..* People won't believe me, ofcourse.

Not only that, but a little pound stirling goes a long way out there.. ;)

I could probably buy a house with the revenue from one weeks interest. I wonder if it's a good place to retire? :hmm:

I know - Those cowards should be happy to be blown apart for the greater glory of Haliburton!

:p

I should say that I would find it a pleasure to kill vile communists.

I just wouldn't do it for GW Bush and his puppet masters.

:)

CUrty, IM not going to flame you, but I really want an answer to this question, after you answer it Im not going to reply, I just want a clarification:

What DO you think the west should be doing to counter islamists? Total war? or no war at all?

Thats all, nothing else, just a two word answer and Ill never bug you about it again.

THX!

Since when were the NKs islamists?

Two words, eh?

OK - "Stop Meddling"

Meaning that the West should:

1 - Stop helping them in the first instance.

2 - Stop backing down from them.

3 - Stop covertly aiding their rivals.

4 - Stop training future enemies.

5 - Stop the disgusting double standards.

:)

1. I'm 16. There's no way any law lowering the legal U.S. drafting age would be passed by tomorrow, so I can't be drafted.
2. Even if I could be drafted, there's no way in heck I would ever allow that. I'd either move to Canada with my family, or evade the authorities for as long as possible.
3. If somehow the U.S. turned into a police state overnight, and I was rounded up, flown off to a hot spot, and forced to fight, I would try as best as I could to escape, and either make it out or die trying. If it didn't work the first time, I would try it again, and again, and again, until I escaped or died.

So basically, all I'm saying is that I'm answering your question with a loud "N/A." :)

If North Korea declared war on America, and you were drafted, what would you do?

Perhaps, leaders of North Korea are crazy. But how much crazy someone should be in the modern world to declare war on America? :spear:

P.S.: I guess that will happen when NK will be ruled by AI.

It's completely conditional... If NK declared war on us and invaded South Korea and tried to do something stupid like nuke Japan, then I'd probably enlist. If Bush declared war on them as a continuation of his whole Axis of Evil kick, then I'd say screw it and go to Canada or tell them that I'm a strict Buddhist and therefore cannot be in the army because of my religious beliefs.

i would go to north korea to defend the south koreans and america itself from north korea. i would consider it an honor to fight for my country, and when i am old enough i plan on going to west point and joining the army indefinitely, also people keep in mind in this scenario N korea declares war on us, and i have dual citizenship with spain and america so i wouldn't even have to go

if I'm not mistaken isn't Spain in Nato? So if NK declared war on the US doesn't Spain by default have to help?

It's nice to see Curt is keeping the tradition of no atheist in foxholes

Personally I would go but as a medic or some other non combat role. People can stand and shoot each other all day but I'm not gonna go through that personal change that I've been told happens when you take a life.

Still I'm a brit so running away is harder north of the border is Scotland....wonder if I would be safe from a draft there....

(BTW I included myself as somehow if there was a amercian draft as the 51st State I think sadly brits would be included)

no they wouldn't have to participate, the spanish dropped out of the iraq war, anf france (a nato country) didn't go at all, nor did greece or turkey (also nato), now i'll tell you how a war with north korea would probably go

1. nk declares war
2. there tanks push the americans back into japan with moderate casualties
3. draft begins
4. while waiting for enough troops to make a good attack, american air power attack many enemy targets demoralzing the enemy
5. america gathers enough troops to make a landing
6. on the landing they meet little resistance because of an air/naval bombardment
7. american armor arrives and quickly retake the whole of n/s korea
8. casualties are minimal
9. the n koreans are exstatic because they finally are part of the south korean republic
10. american/ s korean troops celebrate greatly

Iraq didn't declare war on the US and no NATO country was attacked and thus it was not a NATO operation.

If North Korea should attack the United States (not that this is going to happen) that would constitute a case of mutual defense for NATO.

If they would start hostilities against South Korea and the US decides (which they would) to fight on SK's side that would normally also not be a NATO thing.

Somehow, I doubt the NK would be ecstatic at the prospect.

Yes, but just wait until they can start eating rice again instead of tree bark.

I would try for a desk job. (I am to smart and out of shape to be wasted on the front lines when some mindless idiot could kill just as well as me) Of course I wouldn't be able to get it so I would choose Korea. Mainly because I think seeing the ruins of Seoul and the cities that we bomb in return. Also I hate deserts.
