SPAZ2 is out for early access! The dev post says it's actually releasable, single player campaign is finished, but they are doing early access cus they want to add multiplayer later and they need more people to test basically.

I am so in. I've been waiting for this game for forever. I'll try to get you guys an update on it as soon as I have a chance, but man, I'm going this weekend, I have a baby coming in 3 weeks, idk when I'll have time

Well I only played less than two hours. I should've read some comments and reviews first. Not negative necessarily but to change my expectations.

It's nothing like the first one. You primarily command your mothership. The control scheme is all changed as well, no more choosing direction with the mouse. It's just used for weapons targeting. It feels really akward. You don't customize smaller ships with weapons but your mothership is like completely modular now. I guess there's a ton of loot to grab and change it around.

There is far less focus on combat so maybe it's ok. I can't tell yet. The game is much more of an open world rpg? rogue like? I'm not sure the exact description yet. You go around collecting stuff and upgrading your ship. You can trade with tons of other bases and other captains. When not moving on the star map time is stopped but as soon as you move everything else moves in real time with you as well.

So it's really different and I'm not sure if I like it yet. But I'm going to try to give it its due diligence, at least try to get to double digit hours played before writing anything off. It doesn't seem bad, it's just not spaz1 the sequel and I was looking forward to that.

Wow. That is a terrible name. In the UK, "spaz" is a well-known pejorative for the physically disabled, derived as a contraction of the word 'spastic'. So much for international research, eh?

Well I guess technically it's Space Pirates And Zombies and spelled S.P.A.Z. But the big icon for it is SPAZ and yeah my title meant spazing out as in spastic with excitement.

I played a bit more. Conceptually I like the idea, even if it's a gigantic departure from the original. But it seems a bit lacking. It seems very much like an early access but the problem is the devs said campaign is basically done. And it feels lacking. It's a bit too simplistic.

Have to make a tough decision now, I'm almost at 2 hours and not sure whether to get a refund or stay at it. I want to give it a fair shake but I'm not feeling optimistic.

I havent finished the first game D:
Its on my to finish list.

The first game is amazing. If you play it on normal or easy difficulty with widely available tech it's fast. On hard there's a lot of grinding and repetitive play.
