ImageShack has been ruined. What are some good alternatives?

I still have the Bulk uploader. But it won't be any use with the 500 image cap unless I start another account called Accountname2, right?

Mr. Jacque, why do you plan to delete people's images that have already been uploaded but go over this 500 image limit?

I think this is a legitimate question.

also,

How did you found out about this thread? :)

Lucy already asked and got an answer:

Why are you here?
That question has been pondered by many philosophers. :)

My own solution for this quandary:

"File this under 'I' for 'Imagehosting website founders'."

Mise, what specific limitations do Flickr and Picasa have?
Picasa (and picasaweb) has limits to its free storage:
Picasa Web Albums offers 1 GB of free storage for photos and videos.

However, files under certain size limits don't count towards this free storage limit: smaller images and smaller videos do not count to the storage limit.

If you are signed into google+
Photos up to 2048 x 2048 pixels and videos up to 15 minutes won't count towards your free storage.

If you are NOT signed into google+
Photos up to 800 x 800 pixels and videos up to 15 minutes won't count towards your free storage.

All photos uploaded over the free size limit will count towards your 1 GB of free storage. When you reach your storage limit, any new photos you upload to Picasa Web larger than the free size limit will be automatically resized to 800 pixels (on their longest edge).

So picasa is not too bad for storing images as long as they are not too huge.
However I'm not very fond of their direct linking system: it works but it's a bit cumbersome.

I prefer the direct linking system offered by imageshack : if you bulk upload images you can get a small window with the direct link url to each one of the.
It's extremely useful when you upload (and then link) a large number of images after a trip

nono, Lucy asked WHY he is here. I asked HOW he got here or how he found it, I understand why he is here :)

The Toolbar was extremely useful, but ever since I upgraded Firefox I lost the toolbar. The Bulk uploader is still handy.

I am not downgrading to that, since they have a far better product out now.

Well you could try using nightly tester tools see if it'll work when forced.

I currently have around 2700 images on Imageshack. They say you can email them and they will assist you with downloading your images (done but not non-automatic reply yet). I searched imageshack re downloading and got nowhere. They use to have FTP (which I spent $10 on for 10,000 upload credits) but they don't support FTP anymore.

Anyway, here is what I did to get my images back (I had some on my PC, but not all of them) ...

A 5 step process ...

1 - generate code to show images for website
2 - copy code and modify
3 - paste code to html page on C drive
4 - view html page with firefox
5 - download using 'DownThemAll'

Step 1
I can see 42 images per page when I look at 'my images'. If you click on them all (orange border), you can get code to display them for a web page. I recorded a macro using 'iMacro' that selected each image on my page.

Step 2
The code generated isn't that useful ... it shows a thumbnail (which you don't want) and that thumbnail is a link to a 'my image' version of the picture (which you also don't want). However, if you edit the thumbnail image name (ie delete the '.th' portion) you get the direct address of the image

Step 3
Take the list of addresses you have from step 2 and wrap them in the appropriate html image code. Then include these image html lines in a html page.

Step 4
View the html page you created in Step 3 in firefox

Step 5
Download with DownThemAll

Note that you won't get all of your images because some of the thumbnails are missing. Also, some of your uploaded images will be missing. Of the 2700 I have on imageshack, I was able to d/l about 2150.

I also had the direct addresses for each of the images on my website (in the html) so I was able to try and d/l those specific files. I managed to get about 540 of the 600 files.

Finally, I don't really care if I lose files for old CFC succession games.
Spoiler :
Sorry CFC :D

Hey, guys. I made a Hitler parody I'd like to upload, but Imageshack deleted the pic as inappropriate. So, I'm asking you guys: which one of these alternative host sites you think has the highest tolerance for stuff like that?
