ImageShack has been ruined. What are some good alternatives?

I think I'll take Picasa and/or imgur, although following the advice of Mise is something I'm not sure about…

I have made the switch to Photobucket. I don't really care too much, since most of my pictures are rehosted from elsewhere on the net, or I have a hard copy of them on my computer, so no big loss, but I am not using Imageshack any more.

Make a slideshow and upload your pics to youtube? /:lol:

Mise, what specific limitations do Flickr and Picasa have?

I was once a loyal user of Imageshack, until they placed their picture limit in place. So, I found myself migrating to Imgur to upload my comics to. Lately, I have been going through my Imageshack account for older DYOS comics to store safely away till I can find a reliable file hosting site (It's being packaged in bulk in a zip file).

I would recomend Imgur Aimee, I would suggest DeviantArt if you tend to make your own art content (Petty doodles? :p).

The whole Imgur deletes-images-that-haven't-been-viewed-in-six-months thing kind of worries me, actually. I've never used Imageshack so that's not a problem for me, but I'm now seriously considering switching to Flickr or Picasa.

No. Most of mine consist of "hair transplants" (I'll PM you)

Im thinking of migrating anyways but kepeing my old Imageshack for the old images. Ideally itd be something where you dont have to look too much to find an image -- a lot of mine are re-uploads. Sort of like Photobucket. But Photobucket I don't really like all that much.

Organizing into subfolders would be ideal too.

I'd rather not use my own server except for some of the larger/animated ones as that's a lot of bandwidth ;)

Why would you even use imageshack in the first place? It constantly ads annoying ads to pictures when posted on forums, makes it hard to view the actual size of pictures and constantly causes pop-ups (did until I immediately blocked them).

That's what Direct Linking is for.

They apparently do that because it's their main source of revenue.

Anyway, what I've been wondering for a while is: Will they delete any anonymously uploaded images?

More than likely they would delete anonymously posted content.

Hey guys, I am one of the ImageShack co-founders, if you have questions about the changes or imageshack in general, you are welcome to ask me here.

1st question: How do we know you are who you say you are, and not a random guy or a DL or something?

2nd question, assuming you are who you say you are ("Only the paranoid survive."): Why are you forcing people to register to upload their images?

I don't really know what the Image can tell me, unless you couldn't have done used that url if you weren't a normal user (I don't know that kind of thing)

3rd Question: What happens to all the anonymously uploaded Images on March 1st?

2nd question, assuming you are who you say you are ("Only the paranoid survive."): Why are you forcing people to register to upload their images?

In short, abuse -- without registration there is no recourse, and its costing us lots and lots of resources to police anonymous images, just to give you some data, 1 out of 10 unregistered users will upload either porn or some content that we end up removing due to violation of terms of use, but only 1 out of 1000 registered users do that. Photobucket has the same issue, they have tinypic that does not require registration with some heavy restrictions.

Secondly, we can backup images that are from registered users, we can't do it for anonymous users. Which is overall an improvement of quality.

Non-registered images will stay (from people without accounts), but we do not guarantee their safety due to breakage of hardware or any other downtime due to any sort of technical failures.

Registered images are a different story, there are many options to accelerate delivery as well as backup options available, other functions that users can use like 'delete' are also available.
