Immortal Cookbook I: Roosevelt

I have to confess that after the first round I looked at my game and thought: "is this really as bad as it looks?". I played on until 10ad to find out. So I reckon that playing from Carl Corey's (much better) save would be spoiled for me.

Just a quick note to say I won't be able to vote on the saves this weekend. I'm in the process of moving and won't have access to the internet (fingers crossed) from Thursday until Monday 29th inclusive. Definitely will be playing the next round though. Internet permitting. :)

I think the next round is 75ish turns, should be plenty of time for each player to 'leave his mark' on the save.

Played my round first, then took a look at the other reports.

I don't know if another comparison is valid for round 2, the games will likely diverge too much. We shall see.

Pregame ramblings:

Spoiler :

Check over save, everything looks OK. Barb axeman slightly east of our fogbusting warrior, will have to just dance around him for a bit.

This map is deceptively difficult as every proposed city site needs a border pop to claim food. We are quite food poor so whipping might be more detrimental.

Still not a fan of the location Carl Corey (and several others) want to build our copper city. Plan to found two cities, fish/gold and riverside copper. Riverside copper will be a great future Ironworks site (10 river tiles), especially with State Property/Caste System. No direct food resources but can grow OK with grassland farms and work plains hills early on.

I'll backfill those two cities as marked.

This round, I really don't care about the slider after Writing and IW are in. Ideally I will get the clam/marble/horse cities up and have 9 cities to build an army with. I think 6-7 cities is a more realistic goal.

Report:

Spoiler :

Turn 100 – 1500 BC.

I will be whipping Washington a fair bit, so I switch to Slavery.

Estimate it will take about 20 turns to get Horses online. Faster than chopping a monument for copper. Copper enters our borders in 40 turns regardless of whether we settle a city to claim it, and we have the Great Wall.

Don't like having two workers and a size 4 capital. 2 pop whip a Worker out.

Turn 105 – 1375 BC

Barb Axe has been delaying the settlement of Boston, but he finally gives up and goes back East.

Turn 106 – 1350 BC

Boston founded.

Pottery in.

Check Ragnar. Sign OB.

Decide to research IW before Writing. Science cities will not reach size 4/5 in a hurry and need to work gold. I see no need for OB with any other civs at this stage.

I don't like our immediate tech alternatives (other than Writing).

IW now 48 turns, 7BPT at 60% on slider. It looks really ugly, but our teching is ugly right now anyway.

Turn 108 – 1300 BC

Looks like there is an island behind Ragnar, or else a windy part of the continent.

Turn 109 – 1275 BC

Oracle built in an unknown land.

Find Uppsala. Ragnar has gems and he is about to get them online. He may actually tech ok in this game. He has a third city which I have not sighted yet.

Turn 111 – 1225 BC

Greece builds the Great Lighthouse.

Turn 113 – 1175 BC

Sign OB with Alex to allow my WB to continue past Thebes.

Turn 114 – 1150 BC

Alex becomes a Hindu.

Turn 117 – 1075 BC

Gold mine finishes. Now researching at 19 BPT. 14 turns to IW.

Turn 120 – 1000 BC

No AI has alphabet yet.

I generate a GE. What to do, what to do?

Given the potential to generate another GE for Glib, tech trade, speed up 2nd GP and get a few extra Hammers, I decide to bulb Metal Casting.

Next best alternative IMO was holding for Glib.

Turn 121 – 975 BC

Wang drops in, asks us to close borders with Ragnar. Decide that I am more scared of Ragnar, refuse him.

Turn 122 – 950 BC

Mansa wants OB. He is worst enemy of Alex and Ragnar, so I refuse.

Turn 123 – 925 BC

Horse connected to trade network.

Turn 124 – 900 BC

My exploring workboat has covered off Alex's corner. Seems to have reached a southern tip and is heading West.

Turn 125 – 875 BC

Philadelphia founded.

Turn 126 – 850 BC

ToA built in a far away land.

Ratchet slider down to 50% - 9 BPT. IW due in 13 turns.

Turn 129 – 775 BC

Mansa adopts OR. Judiasm founded 1575 BC, may be Mansa but he is Buddhist founder. Still can't trade techs with any AI leaders.

Workboat reaches Mansa's borders to the south of the continent. As he is worst enemy of Alex and Ragnar still I don't want to OB him.

Turn 130 – 750 BC

Colossus built in a far away land. Crap. Someone else has Metal Casting. Check tech screen, still can't trade any AI's.

Great Prophet born in Mali.

Alex converts from Hindu to Buddhism. Still has Mansa Musa as his worst enemy.

Turn 131 – 725 BC

Mansa asks me to cancel OB with Vikings. Refuse as he is still Ragnar's worst enemy and I have no defense.

Mali builds Mahabodi.

Turn 132 – 700 BC

Sadly, this is when I realise a monument in Philadelphia was almost pointless, as the border pop will also claim the rice/gold resources. I hope someone else utilises this fact in their game.

Turn 133 – 675 BC

Wang becomes a Buddhist. Mansa with an early shrine and a guard dog and tech partner (Alex, Wang) may mean a fast tech game.

Boston starts working Gold. Slider up to 60% - 17 BPT. IW due in 3 turns.

Ragnar and Alex are both scouting my lands, but neither have full hands. I think this does mean trouble though.

Turn 136 – 600 BC

IW in. Iron in Washington/Philadelphia BFC, on a grassland river tile. 2/4/1 tile, looks great.

Next tech is Writing. I need to start thinking about Libraries in Boston and Philadelphia. 9 turns to research.

Alex has full hands. Our power rating is about 1/3 of Alex. Alex's worst enemy is Mansa Musa despite the shared religion. Mansa has a higher power rating than Alex does.

Have Chariot poking around in grassland area near site B, cant see a SoD yet. Might be able to avert a potental war as I am about to start pumping units and he has only recently filled his hands.

Turn 137 – 575 BC

Revolt to Rep (running Eng specialist in Washington now)

Turn 139 – 525 BC

Washington's borders pop again.

Iron hooked up. Funny how I waited all that time to pop the border for copper, then I hook up Iron in the same turn. :)

Turn 142 – 470 BC

A look at Alex's lands shows he has been boxed in badly by Mansa Musa. Perhaps he will try to fight his way out? I am over the other side of the continent and we still have OB. I wonder.

Turn 144 – 440 BC

Mansa offers OB again. He is still worst enemy of Alex/Ragnar but I need to OB as my WB is now stuck behind his borders.

Bad news – Mansa has 9 cities and is in the central grasslands location on the continent. Hopefully he gets taken down a peg, ideally by hemmed-in Alex and his Hindu worst enemy, Ragnar.

Temple of Solomon built in a faraway land.

Atlanta founded.

Slider taking hits now, down to 40% - 15 BPT. Writing due next turn.

Turn 145 – 425 BC

Writing in.

I meet Gilgamesh. He is Buddhist also. Sigh. He also built Oracle / Colossus. Guess he took Metal Casting from Oracle?

No civs can trade with me yet, but I would not want Gilga to trade Metal Casting to everyone and eradicate my tech advantage.

Switch research to Alphabet. If another civ apart from Gilga reaches it first, it might not be so bad as we can trade MC for it. We could still pop a Great Spy – Alphabet would allow us to thieve from Mansa Musa. 26 turns until next GP, 39 turns for Alpha.

Ragnar is boxed in horribly, he has three cities.

Mansa is huge right now and may run away in tech but I feel if we get Ragnar down fast we will have enough land to compete. At least Mansa is close enough to war against.

I start weighting EP's against Mansa in anticipation of him being our biggest threat during the mid game phase.

Turn 149 – 365 BC

Hinduism spreads to Washington. Decide not to switch.

Turn 150 – 350 BC

Alex still has full hands. Still hates Mansa.

Check tech screen and 3 AI's have MC, Wang/Gilga/Mansa. Can trade with all AI's. Lucky I decided to check.

Complete two trades before our bulbed tech becomes useless.

Mansa: MC for Alpha + Hunting
Alex: MC for Maths + Sailing

Check Tech screen again, Gilga and Wang have Construction. Wang wants MC. Decide to put a turn in Construction and see if he will trade me. He hates Ragnar so I might be able to build good diplo with him and use him as a long term trading partner.

Turn 151 – 335 BC

Wang won't trade Construction. Decide we need to keep researching it as I prioritise wiping out Ragnar fast and getting started on Mansa Musa. Would be great if we could get two Holy Cities, especially Mansa's.

Turn 154 – 290 BC

Mansa Musa has claimed jungle area south of Boston.

Turn 155 – 275 BC

Wang Kon declares war on Ragnar. Wang has about 3x his power. I might not get a crack at Ragnar. This could be good in a way, as I could then try to take a bite from Mansa Musa first.

Turn 157 – 245 BC

WB dies. Damn. Looks like a nice island behind Ragnar (forgot screenie).

An alternative may exist – we could try to peacefully expand to the island and shoot for Diplo with Korea and Mali as friends. However, I don't like that option so much as we might lose to a space race.

Mansa asks again for me to cancel deals with Ragnar. I agree.

Turn 158 – 230 BC

Wang asks me to war against Ragnar. I decide that I don't have enough of an army to pillage tiles and I don't want to start building up WW and incurring extra maintenance. Decline his offer.

Turn 159 – 215 BC

Amazing sequence of events.

Mansa has a buddhist missionary in my territory. Good.

Wang captures Nidaros!!! Wish I had declared a phony war now.

Alex declares war on Mansa Musa.

Mansa and Wang, much to my shock, have more power than the warmongers Alex and Ragnar. Alex and Ragnar have both taken big hits to their power rating. Ragnar is history, down to two cities.

I really don't like the idea of building peacefully: We have two fast techers (Mansa/Wang) sharing a religion.

Mansa is right next door and is occupied right now, might be a great chance to attack him once we get some Catapults up and running.

Turn 161 – 185 BC

THG built by Wang.

Turn 162 – 170 BC

Chicago founded.

Slider at 50% for 27 BPT. Construction in 11 turns.

Turn 163 – 155 BC

Mansa spreads Buddhism to me. I convert – all except Ragnar and the mystery civ are Buddhist.

Turn 164 – 140 BC

Ragnar asks for help against Korea. No dice.

Turn 166 – 110 BC

Chariot checks out Nidaros. Wang has a 4 unit garrison there.

Turn166-Nidaros.jpg

Damn, that is a fine city spot!

Turn 168 – 80 BC

Confucianism FIADL.

Alex asks for help against Mali. Decline.

Turn 169 – 65 BC

Alex and Mansa take peace. No cities traded hands.

Turn 170 – 50 BC

Wang and Ragnar take peace.

+2 GPT at 40%, 25BPT. 5 turns on Construction.

Turn 172 – 20 BC

Great Prophet born in faraway land.

SoZ built by mystery civ.

I generate another GE. GE will bulb all but about 150 beakers of Machinery (6 turns left at current research rate) As this is only 3 turns from the end I think it is prudent to put him to sleep in the capital.

Turn 173 – 5 BC

Christianity FIADL.

Mystery civ has founded 3 religions and has quite a few wonders.

Turn 175 – 25 AD

Tech, Power and Empire screenies.

Turn175-Tech.jpg

Turn175-Power.jpg

Turn175-Empire.jpg

Washington is awesome for war buildup, base production is 28H. Needs to build a few farms to grow a bit larger though.

Areas of discussion regarding my save:

Spoiler :

What to use the GE for. Can bulb all but 150 beakers of Machinery, putting us one tech + 6 turns away from Pikes/Trebs. I am pretty far from Glib.

Who to fight. Ragnar has three cities and less power than us, might be a good first target. Wang has only one city on this side of the map and it is a doozy. He probably has too much power. Mansa is our main threat this game and is close by. I think the best tactic is a quick war against Ragnar, consolidate and then take on Mansa.

When to fight. I have built 4 swords, 2 axes and a spear so far. Have two strong production cities, our two best science cities have OK production once Libraries are built, and Atlanta will be a strong city once it grows for a bit.

What to tech. I was thinking Aesthetics → Lit for the GL, but we are 2 techs away. Alternate could be Currency/CoL to pay for wars, or Mach/Eng to get Trebs/Pikes/Xbows.

Whether to settle more cities. I lean towards no at this point, at least not until after a war with Ragnar/Mansa.

My save is awful for sitting back I think, army partly built, teched military techs and I have a low science output until Libraries are in.

If my save was chosen I would probably bulb Machinery, build up an army of Sword/Xbow/Cat and take Ragnar first, tech/trade for CoL -> CS -> Engineering for Trebs/Pikes/Maces then build up another SoD for Mansa.

hi guys. been away this week, so i haven't had a chance to play yet. voting won't start until monday, so there is still time

sorry for no save, but i have been literally swamped with work since i got back from scotland on saturday. to be honest, i can't see myself having time to play before next weekend, so just start voting anyway. if i can get my save in, it will now be a shadow.

many apologies.

Spoiler :

Economy:
6 Cities (1 Settler) 18 Population 35 BPT/-3 GPT 4 Workers (2 in production)

Comments:
First three cities are pretty well developed. Seventh city already has gold/rice improved and will become useful very quickly.

Need to invest some worker turns into getting last three cities up. Research will improve in the future, as Great Library is being constructed.

We don't have a state religion, so no happy bonus nor synergy with OR.

Technology:
Meditation Priesthood Polytheism Iron Working Aesthetics Mathematics Alphabet Literature Code of Laws(17)

Comments:
Research rate is ok but not spectacular.

Aesthetics+Lit are still tradeable. We can likely obtain Hunting/Monotheism, possibly Monarchy for them. I don't think these techs are all that useful to us though.

CoL will improve our economy, especially with half price Courthouses.

We are not far away from Construction and a war buildup, either.

Military:
5 Warriors 3 Chariots 2 Axemen

Comments:
We have a small military but enough for defense. Not sure why we chose to build 3 chariots with GW available to us.

Espionage:
28 EPT 1 Spy

Comments:
This save will have strong espionage for quite a while due to the 2 settled Great Spies in capital. I think it was slightly unlucky to miss a GE both times, but we have to use what we have got.

Good to see a spy already out and moving about.

We can see Ragnar's research and his capital which is nice. Points have been split 2/1 Mansa/Ragnar.

This allocation should be good for causing revolts against Ragnar and hopefully stealing some backfill tech from Mansa Musa. Do not forsee changing it any time soon.

Diplomacy/Foreign Affairs:
Wang won't talk to us. Alex/Mansa will tech trade with us.

Wang/Rag and Alex/Mansa at war.

Conflict between potential trade partners may cause problems. Otherwise, I think this bodes well for us as all of our close neighbors are at war.

Overall:
Decent save. We have an OK chunk of land to ourselves. Think it has potential once Glib/CoL are in. Like the very strong espionage and potential to use spy revolts in first war.

Weakness of this save to me is the slow military buildup.

8 Cities 20 Population 36 BPT/-1 GPT 5 Workers

Comments:
8 cities up already is nice. Our newer cities are developed fairly well and have become useful to our empire almost immidiately.

I think Washington and NY are a little underdeveloped. This is the tradeoff between improving the new cities faster as against improving old cities. That said, Washington and NY are still useful to our empire.

We don't have a state religion, so no happy bonus nor synergy with OR.

Technology:
Meditation Priesthood Iron Working Mathematics Alphabet Code of Laws(1)

Comments:
Research rate is ok but not spectacular.

No Aesthetics/Lit for Glib/trading. CoL is tradeable but as Carl Corey mentioned, not much useful tech available.

CoL will improve our economy, especially with half price Courthouses. We are not far away from Construction either.

Military:
6 Warriors 6 Chariots 6 Swordsmen

Comments:
Impressive military buildup. Also have two cities producing more military at this stage. Not sure why we have so many Chariots though. City garrison captured cities/pillage metals?

In any case, looking promising to get a SoD out and warring in the next round.

Espionage:
16 EPT 2 Spies

Comments:
Nice espionage. 1 settled Great Spy in capital. 2 spies out already.

Points have been allocated towards Gilga/Mansa with a few on Alex/Wang.

This allocation good for seeing research and will allow us to steal from AI's who have techs we dont. Probably won't have revolts against Ragnar, however.

Diplomacy/Foreign Affairs:
Alex/Mansa/Gilga will tech trade with us.

Wang at war with both and Alex/Ragnar. Ragnar lost a city, but the prize of Nidaros is still available to us. May have problems with Alex fighting us too if Wang takes peace.

Game is split into 2 religious blocks which is good, problem is Mansa is not being slowed down by war.

Overall:
I like this save's potential for a third round war. We are one tech from Construction and have been building swords for a fair while now.

Our research is a little behind, but we have a strong base of cities and have been more focused on military.

Espionage is strong and may come in handy to help us keep up in tech.

4 Cities (1 Settler) 15 Population 75 BPT/0 GPT 3 Workers

Comments:
4 cities & 3 workers is a little slow. We have good land, we should be looking at filling more of it with cities.

Cities are focusing on economic builds at present, although NY is ready for military builds. NY needs hills mined to maximise potential of city.

Washington has an academy and we used a GE to build the Glib in Washington. Will be a fantastic science city.

We don't have a state religion, so no happy bonus nor synergy with OR.

Technology:
Meditation Priesthood Polytheism Iron Working Aesthetics Mathematics Literature Code of Laws(9)

Comments:
We built the Great Library last turn! Research rate is great, and we have over 100 gold saved up. I think we will fly past the AI in tech next round.

No Alphabet, but all AI except Wang have it. Aesthetics + Lit to trade, but can only get stuff like Sailing/Monotheism/Archery, possibility to get 230 gold from Mansa and try to trade for Aesthetics for Alpha.

CoL will improve our economy, especially with half price Courthouses. We are not far away from Construction either.

Military:
4 Warriors 1 Chariot 4 Axemen

Comments:
Decent military for defense but not building up military yet. As mentioned, Washington is a super science city/GP farm so it won't be as useful to help with the war buildup.

Espionage:
4 EPT 0 Spies

Comments:
No espionage to speak of. Points left at default.

Diplomacy/Foreign Affairs:
Alex/Mansa/Gilga will tech trade with us.

Wang fought Ragnar but now at peace.

Mansa at war with both Alex/Ragnar. No cities trade hands.

Game is split into 2 religious blocks which is good, Mansa has two opponents which is nice also. Seems to still be teching awfully fast however.

Good opportunity for us to jump into a war against a weakened opponent.

Overall:
Good potential to shoot ahead in tech in this save. Weak espionage, but this may not be a factor with the fast tech rate.

Military is behind and our empire is relatively small. We are not ready to war yet with this save. A solid round of economic buildup may give us a greater advantage in a later war, however.

All cities are very well developed (except one) and we have a healthy amount of Workers. Looking very strong economically.

Washington has an academy and Glib is in progress, making for a superb science city.

We have Buddhism and are soon to have OR available. This will also help our economy.

Technology:
Meditation Polytheism Priesthood Iron Working Horseback Riding Mathematics Alphabet Construction Monarchy Monotheism(2)

Comments:
Research rate is great but not yet sustainable. Once Glib is built our research rate will be very strong.

We have gathered quite a lot of techs and could easily start building a classical-era army.

Not much to backfill, Hunting/Monotheism are available to pick up but I think we want to hold onto Literature until Glib is done.

CoL will improve our economy, especially with half price Courthouses. EDIT: We have the ability to build War Elephants, nice.

Military:
5 Warriors 3 Chariots 2 Axemen

Comments:
We have a small military but enough for defense. Not sure why we chose to build 3 chariots with GW available to us.

Espionage:

Nice espionage. 1 settled Great Spy in capital.

Points have been allocated to all but Ragnar.

This allocation good for seeing research and gives us potential to steal cheaper techs.

Diplomacy/Foreign Affairs:
Alex/Mansa/Gilga/Wang will tech trade with us. We are part of the Buddhist bloc.

Wang at war with Ragnar. Will get good diplo with him if we join in.

Alex is Buddhist also, potential peaceful game. May cause problems if we fight anyone else after Ragnar.

Overall:
I think this is a fantastic save. Economy is very strong, we have lots of technology and will have good BPT once Glib is up and running.
Short on units at present but we have 3 good hammer cities and have picked up military techs from last round.

EDIT: Also trading for ivory to allow elephants, did not notice that on first inspection. Makes the save somewhat better for a war.

Player: Winston Hughes

Spoiler :

Comments:
Good amount of cities. Lots of workers running around improving stuff which is nice to see.

Our cities are very large, we built the Hanging Gardens which has helped us out. Every city looks to be well developed and is working good/great tiles.

We founded Confucianism and have adopted Buddhism. No OR available yet.

Research rate is great despite not building the Great Library, and we have over 100 gold saved up. I think we will fly past the AI in tech next round.

Only have CoL on everyone, could backfill for some techs but not much point at this stage.

We already have CoL and are working on Civil Service. HBR may be useful for early war and we can research Construction

Military:
3 Warriors 1 Chariot 1 Axeman

Comments:
No military to speak of. Need to remedy this in the next round.

Espionage:
16 EPT 0 Spies

Comments:
Nice espionage. 1 settled Great Spy in capital.

Points have been allocated to all but Ragnar.

This allocation good for seeing research and gives us potential to steal cheaper techs.

Diplomacy/Foreign Affairs:
Alex/Mansa/Gilga/Wang will tech trade with us. We are part of the Buddhist bloc.

Wang fought Ragnar but now at peace. Wang took two cities off Ragnar, I think he only has one left.

Could we build up a smaller military for the sole purpose of picking off Nidaros alone in the next round and wipe Ragnar out early?

Overall:
This save is similar to another save which got the Great Library, but I think this save is stronger then that one. We have a superb tech rate and well developed cities, plus our first likely war target has been weakened badly.

Although we don't have much of a military we could remedy this with some good production cities already up and running.

Votes:

Spoiler :

3 - Winston Hughes, has very well developed cities + very high BPT
2 - Gliese581, also very strong economically EDIT: also able to prepare for war quickly.
1 - Carl Corey, save looks best to start 'stealing' land early :)

Berkobob:

Spoiler :

Quite busy at the moment so I haven't read all of your post. I do have construction, unless I posted the wrong save! We can build War Elephants and Cats (trade MM for ivory). About the chariots: For exploration.

I will check saves and vote in a couple of days (what is the deadline?).

I'll have to take a look at the saves again tonight, but Berkobob has done a great summary of them already. Thanks, good job there! :)

Berkobob, regarding my save:
Spoiler :
We have so many chariots because I hooked copper a bit late. There was a barb Axeman that constantly fooled around our copper spot, and I decided to go for another city before that one. And with Ragnar nearby I didn't want to look weak; although it doesn't seem like Ragnar's got a long life in any of our saves. :)

The good part about my save is that since Alex is still Hindu while the rest (except Ragnar) are Buddhists, Alex is a bit of an outcast. He doesn't have open borders with Mansa Musa, so even if we declare on Ragnar and he tries to pile on us, there's no way for him to get to us. :D

Gliese:
Spoiler :
He already put Construction among the techs you have, but he somehow forgot by the time he got to what techs we're close to. :) By the way, great save there with the Ivory trade.

Thanks for the corrections.

I only spent 30-40 minutes looking at each one so I was sure I would miss things. Found this round harder to compare as I looked at about 1 save per day and the saves diverge more.

Being very naughty and posting from work. :D

I still haven't got internet access but hopefully by tomorrow I'll be up and running. ;)

I can't access any of the saves so don't mind if you miss me out of the votes this time.

Berkobob has done some analysis of his save at the end of his post, but here's a Berkobob-patented analysis:
Spoiler :

Economy: 6 cities, 22 population, 25Bpt/-1GPT, 4 workers

Comments:
Good number of cities, pretty well improved. Would probably need a couple more workers, but if we're going to war they can wait. At least three of those can be dedicated to military, so we have hopes for more forceful expansion during the next round.

We're Buddhists like everyone but Ragnar, that might make things a bit more difficult from a diplomatic point of view.

Technology:
Iron Working, Metal Casting, Maths, Alphabet, Construction

Comments:
With the Great Engineer waiting to bulb Machinery we have pretty good military prospects, however we'll need to get Currency and/or CoL as soon as possible if we continue to expand. Might mean having to lower our slider, going to war, then doing deficit research on money got from the war.

Military:
5 Swords, 3 Axes, 1 Spear and 3 Chariots.

Comments:
If that's not a war build-up, I don't know what is. :D We also have catapults in the works, looks good to finish up Ragnar.

Espionage:
4 EPT, all on Mansa at the moment

Comments:
Nothing to write home about, but I won't complain since we've got GEs in this one. :)

Diplomacy:
One big Buddhist block, with Ragnar the odd man out.

Wang took Nidaros from Ragnar and now they're at peace. Mansa and Alex also fought a war, so although there's only one religious block to speak of Alex might help out by creating enemies inside it. Whether we will want to join him against Mansa at one point remains to be seen.

Overall:
This saves seems pretty much geared for war. Taking Ragnar out should prove easy, and Alex might just join the war on our side. Which isn't bad if we move fast. Too bad Nidaros is in Korean hands.

We need to find a way to get our economy back on track after the potential war against the Vikings. We don't have too many things to trade, and frankly, I wouldn't trade Machinery around if we bulb it. Although that might be my "Emperor" mentality, and we should actually trade it for all its worth...

My votes:
Spoiler :

1. Winston Huges - 3 points (the tech situation is amazing!)
2. Gliese - 2 points
3. Berkobob - 1 point

Interesting saves all around by the way. It was really hard to choose and to order them, even WH's 1st position wasn't won by too much.

I've been so busy I haven't played a single turn of civ since the last round, so the present pace suits me quite well.

Anyway, here are my votes (no time for explanation; sorry):

3pts - Gliese
2pts - Berkobob
1pts - Bleys

Edit: Eh? How the hell did that random smiley get there?

I'm sorry for being late with this, I haven't played any civ since the last round either.

3pts WH
2pts Carl Corey
1pt Sleepless

A short explanation:
WH has phenomenal economy but other than that I put a heavy weight on the diplomatical situation, specifically religious blocks.
