Immortal slavers, they are back!

We can use emancipation until we're ready to whip again. I don't think there are any big things left to whip, unless we steal radio and start whipping the modern wonders. FR doesn't give any more happy if you only have one religion...

Globe needs two pop per infantry now. Wouldn't it make more sense to build an academy in a different production city?

Once we take Hannibal's cities, we'll be about 30% landmass. At that point, trade routes and specialists should be enough to power research. So I would kick Hannibal off this continent to avoid culture issues. We can always gift him the city south of Tenochtitlan if we vassalize him - that one's culture is relatively innocuous and very convenient for stealing techs.

OT: I am out of town from now until sunday... good game guys :) (swap me if needed ;))

Played 8 turns. Captured 5 Carthaginian cities (inc Carthage), Han's got spy-target city and 2 south coast cities left on 'our' continent. He's willing to capitulate. We should capture remaining cities in three turns anyway.
Do we accept capitulation or grind him a bit further (and hope he doesn't vassal to someone else (such as Stalin))?

I think hostile capitulation would be OK since we're just about in mop-up , so I would take the three turns for the two coast cities.

I have wondered, though, if the larger number of tiles we would get by owning the closer city would outweigh the farther distance to the coast cities if we left him with one of those instead.

If we did it the latter way (say leaving him the city on the marble) we could mitigate its culture a bit if we could capture it (destroying doubled culture buildings) and liberating it. I'm not sure if we could liberate it after kicking him off the continent though.

The big question is will he keep teching as good with so few cities?

Nope, but we only really need 1-2 more techs anyway. Not much reason for us to tech beyond tanks and transports, and we can brute force our way there with lots of scientists and a high culture slider for happiness.
Let's leave him one southern city on the continent, the difference in EP cost for missions isn't going to change the game and it might get us the dom win 1 turn sooner.

Got it, will play tomorrow.

Turn set will probably involve variations on a theme of whipping and drafting as we prepare the expeditionry force.

Can we get a spy to steal combustion before we kick him off the continent? If so, then we could steal the tech, kick him off, and vassalize.

Played the next two turns.

Hannibal will capitulate. One city left down south, stacks reach its walls next turn.
I've built a few Tao missionaries to convert all our cities, now working through Hunny's cities.
Started building a navy.
Stalin has been conspicious by his absence.
Han's got radio and plastics to pinch. Hunny's got flight.

edit: we've got one turn of golden age left in which to swop civics. Maybe back to slavery, whip out a navy. Maybe swop to police state instead of rep coz what we need we can steal.
Here's a save:

Police state and slavery are definitely the main priorities for my upcoming turnset.

It might be best to capitulate Hann without taking his last city on the mainland if it looks like we may be able to continue stealin the odd tech from him.
AI vassals will often have useful navies on a continents map and helps to keep the oceans clear of enemy destroyers, which is why I like having vassals on this type of map.

The war target will probably be Stalin or Wang, I'll check their respective tech situations first and make a decision on that. Any input on preferred targets?

Airports up in a couple of cities for speedy extra-continental reinforcements would be extremely useful so I'll be looking at ways to make that happen.

Stalin's already at war but I think his army's bigger. Doesn't really matter for me which we go after. Sounds like we want to steal at least a few more techs from Hannibal so I'd capitulate him now and start preparing for the inter-continental war. We can garrison the out-dated units to prevent culture revolts.

I'm afraid this will have to be my last turnset guys. My computer can't handle so many units.

I slugged my way through 7-8 turns just organising our troops and setting up the fleet as best I could, but at 30 seconds or so per unit it started getting too frustrating.

Whinging aside, we now have 15-20 transports and a bunch of destroyers/battleships as escorts.

Here's a shot of part of the convoy making its way to the rendezvous point.

I destroyed the security Bureau in Hannys remaining town however all of the rest of the spies failed in trying to steal radio+rocketry >.<
I've rebuilt them and they're on their way back to him.

It might pay to drop 1-2 turns worth of EP into HC just to steal flight (I have a spy ready). A couple of airports will make future reinforcements significantly easier. I switched Hanny to flight but he's 29 turns away from it.

We have gold for more upgrades, probably do cannons->artillary

Looks like it's pretty much won.

That's a respectable army we're getting.

Noticed that we hadn't swopped civics.

HC will convert to Taoism for 260g, may be worth considering if that'll put him in the mood for trading techs.

I was in slavery for 6 turns to get our fleet into action but swapped out again once that phase was completed (we're spiritual so Golden Age doesn't affect our civics changes).
Emancipation unhapiness is a killer.

Sunday bump for our captainless SG :D

This would have fitted better ... but yeah apologies for being late... I landed yesterday a bit late to be able to look at the save... so i will comment after work... tx for your patience team!

@Paulis: I can't believe your comp is having troubles! How do you do in your hof games (I am sure you have hordes running :p)?

Cheers,

In my HoF games the AI is under control by 1000AD at the latest, so no silly stacks runing around chewing up my processor power.
Even so, the vast majority of my games are played on tiny maps just to make sure.

I'd really love to play HUGE maps, maybe if I get this job I'll be able to buy myself a new computer.

Speaking of which, I'm away for a week on a job interview. I expect to see two more vassals by the time I get back!

Totally forgot we're spiritual  (easy to forget when we're either killing foreigners or flogging our citizens to death;)) so golden ages are irrelevant to civic changes :).

Kill Joe. He's an aggressive psychopath who declares war for the most trivial reasons. One of us is enough.

@ PaulisKhan. Good luck. You need this job to get a computer that can handle these silly late game stacks.
