Imperial Trash.

Fri - Mon sounds great to me - nicely avoiding a clash with MLG-3 as well. Hehe - posting while working. Who'd do a thing like that. :mischief:

Or Darius sounds great, like Oz suggested earlier?

Recently, found both Ethiopia and Dutch to be quite beefy as well - might just be me, but I find Creative just keeps on giving in the early game?

Although anything will do... be fun any which way! :)

I don't want to turn anyone away. Nine is a large roster for one game however. As I said in the opening post if we get over eight players we could consider running two seperate games, probably with the same settings but different leaders on different maps.

What I'll do is leave the roster open until Friday evening for new sign-ups. I'll then set up two games, one for Darius and one for not-Darius (maybe Mansa, maybe Asoka). If anyone's really masochistic they could sign up for both though new players would have priority over double bookings.

Are you thinking of running two different games?

I am not sure how that will help us learn on emperor level. Maybe we can split the same starting position by have two streams run in parallel. Split after the first 100 turns. Or we could have two groups with different styles. One group aims for an aggressive military early game and the other plays the peaceful, builder, low war early game.

I do feel both groups should aim for the same victory. spaceship vs domination are just too different.

remconius: I'm thinking about splitting this into two games purely for management purposes. It would be difficult to study and evaluate nine or ten different games and then vote for the 'best'. It should be more manageable to do this with four or five games allowing for more depth in discussion. I imagine people would probably lurk the other game for learning purposes.

If two teams are playing synchronous sets then they could both use the same starting map and leader but would also have the option of playing different leader and map.

In terms of the victory condition its likely to depend on the circumstances relating to a particular map, set of neighbours etc. I think I'd probably want to rule out AP victory (unless its substantially modified by 3.13).

r rolo1:you're in.

Had a look at some feedback threads in BtS forum, seems there's some significant issues with resource trading in 3.13.

If nobody has issues with using unofficial patches, Bhruic has released one that fixes the bugs that most people have been complaining about. Look for it in the BtS forum because I'm too lazy to link it.

My understanding is that 3.13 has also been affecting some people's vanilla and warlords games. I'm reluctant in that case to load 3.13 until either the issue has been resolved (or proven incorrect) or I've finished playing a couple of warlords SGs. I'm not sure if Bhruic's patch addresses that particular issue.

I'm thinking therefore of starting off with BtS 3.02 and upgrading to 3.13 when these issues have been ironed out. Is that ok?

I'm also thinking that we have two seperate teams for management issues as discussed in post #26 but both teams play Darius from a common start. Is team composition an issue for anyone? If so pm me with preferences.

I apologise for the delay in getting this off the ground. I'll get the teams and starting save posted Sunday evening.

Hmm, another SG I'm in is switching to 3.13, so if we're starting off with 3.02 (or do you mean 3.03), could someone point me towards a dual install?

I haven't had any trouble with vanilla or warlords saves, if that's of any help.

Apologies for the delay.

Going for two teams. I split people up by alternate boardnames as no-one has expressed a preference.

This gives:

Team A
Cabert
50 Dollar Bag
Ozbenno
R. Rolo
Shyuhe
TriviAl

Team A+
Cam_H
Giaur
Pigswill
Remconius
Stuge

I think that we'll play the first round up to 1500bc. Its enough time for people to get to know the neighborhood, decide on their initial strategy (rex, rush, wonderspam or whatever) and start on implementing it.

Basic stuff: play Friday-Monday, discuss Tues-Weds, vote for best game Thursday. Play own game or best game next round. Rinse and repeat.

We're not competing against each other but against the level. Best outcome is that everyone wins their game. Constructive criticism and suggestions for improved play are welcome  . Gratuitous criticism and any offensive comments are most definitely unwelcome  . We all know all this but I'm saying it anyway.

Version: BtS 3.13 (Bhruic's patch)
Level: Emperor ;) .
Ancient start.
Normal Speed.
Mapscript: Continents.
World: Standard size, temperate, medium sealevel. All settings on default. Random opponents. Normal barbs.

Team A+ get a thread of their very own! :goodjob:

Darius: financial, organised, immortals, apothecaries, yadda yadda.

A starting point:

It should be noted that I have absolutely no idea what the map contains.

Hi y'all! :)

As indicated to Pigswill, I will certainly be unavailable until the 21st of October for playing, but don't let that hold you up. Proceed as you would without me.

If it's felt best that an additional name (of a Monarch / hesitant Emperor level player) is slotted into the roster to part-cover for my 'to-ing and fro-ing', that would be fine by me. Team A+ is the smaller of the two groups and my availability is 'tentative' on any given week.

Can you dual install Bhruic's patch? Or will it apply to all of my games if I install it? I should probably go look somewhere else for this answer but I'm a little lazy
