Imperium Offtopicum IV: Third's the Charm?

I thought I claimed Italy's stiletto heel and the 2 territories to the close north of my Greek holdings as well as Macedon and Crete.

Let's see...

Turn 1: Peloponesus
Turn 2: Forgot
Turn 3: Italy bit, Crete, 2 to da north, Macedon
Turn 4: Thessacalonia, Rhodes

sorry i already claimed Rhodes before you did.

Sorry the official map update says otherwise.

Here are my purchases this round:

It's not showing Thorvald.

I see what you did there.

Forming a pocket around provinces you want in the future. ;)

...whatever then. oh and your map is still out of date, and i reposted information abotu my nation here. please update it.

anyway to who should know:

Byzantium may want to restore its old borders ( the ones i had last game at my height), but doing so would completely destroy Macedon and Kosovo, and damage parts of Rome.

military leaders are urging that i restore the old borders. the civilians are urging that i do so. the entire fricking senate also agrees.

the Byzantine Emperor is literally the only one who wants a non-warfare way of restoring the borders.

Thankee.

My claims for today:

Light Blue is my claims.

I don't know how much I can claim, so the green are my secondary claims in the event I can make them.

Oi. No funny buisness down there.

Oi. No funny buisness down there.

i woudl liek to remind you and everyone else:

the Byzantine nation cannot delcare war, make treaty arrangements or agree to a deal, or anything that affects the nation as a whole without the Byzantine emperor's written permission

this also invalidates coup-detats or anything. if that happens the government is not legal unless i sign that it is.

Yep, know, Math, that I will repeal our trade deals if I start sensing you getting too big for your britches again.

...i must also sign to end trade agreements. merely a formality by that point anyways.

As you can see, it becomes apparent that the brand of democracy, giving everyone equal votes simply for where they were born, is detrimental to national interests. We in the Federation only give the vote to the most deserving, and for good reason. Our critics deride us as a military dictatorship, but obviously we are not much of one when the peaceful Republics to the east are having more issues controlling their policies than a Republic that is built for soldiers.

We would encourage the Byzantine Republic to declare a state of emergency - we imagine this is within the Emperor's powers - in the face of potential danger by the populace, as they seem eager to riot if the Emperor does not turn aggressive. Using this state of emergency, work on re-organising the state to not let such uneducated sentiments influence policy.

Soldiers are the ones who fight on the ground, and therefore they alone should have the hold on foreign policy. This is why our President is elected by the soldiers and their families, to ensure we do not blunder into needless wars which could damage those very soldiers.

Even if the Byzantine Emperorship has all the powers you mention, it would still be beneficial to make government more friendly and thus functional.

my soldiers are willing to do whatever it takes to reclaim the lands, but they arent stupid and nor is the senate or the Civilians. they know that if they attack those two states (or any other state actually) without my permission, they will be deemed a terrorist organization and will be defeated. immediately.

Soo.... ....much... ...lonelyness in my neighborhood :(.

*Waves to Great Britain, Marian Federation, and France :wavey:*

Your consent or not cannot stop me from simply not sending you goods

i know, but as logn as its there until i sign that it ends we have a trade agreement even of it exists only on paper.

No, you don't seem to understand. We have a trade agreement that I will send you my supplies, and you will buy them.

If I decide it's no longer in my best interests to send you my supplies, I can stop, because I hold all the cards. If we aren't trading then there's no longer an agreement. I can unilaterally end it any time I want, because you aren't really giving me anything other than your money.

im giving you a lot of money. i want to aggressively modernize my nation so i am buying high technology factories, mainly, and several stuff that i cannot currently make (or ever make honestly). factories are expensive.

and.. yeah well i ill accept that the trade agreement is out fo our hands..

Filmmaker Mirza Kuchak has made a documentary on the Byzantine Imperial Revival Movement; "Calling Justinian: The Worrying Rise of a Dangerous Cult". It premieres tonight 8pm on Channel 3.

Byzantine news

due to Barabas alleged support of Christians, the Muslims are leaving the country while they can due to their worries that they may repress the Muslim which comprise 94% of the population.

Barabas: why would we repress our entire country? Islam is a legal religion and they can do whatever they want that is dictated in their religion within reason. arranged marriage is even legal here.

if anyone thinks that we are or will repress muslims, i ask, just HOW do i repress the entire population? you cant. if anything the Christians are still repressed on a public level.

Byzantium cannot repress the muslims. if the Muslims want to leave, their choice.
