Imperium Offtopicum V

(note: in war, do armies get destroyed or do they just withdraw?)
Thats a good idea, I suggest we have diplomacy (board game) style wars. However this will make it like 3 times harder for the military advisor...

Also I recommend all members of the AoFN (Alliance of Free Nations) to remain neutral in the dispute between the Muslims, it is there religion, let them sort it out themselves. (That means you Mathamalus)

Shah of Persia, I ask of you will you withdraw you current southwestern most claim that intervenes with my own?
Xi'an supports Persia's right to the territory, The Papal States have no right to be in the middle east.

I just realized something, as Isreal is overseas, shouldn't it have cost 2 points/ territory for Cull to claim, if thats the case how come he managed to claim more the just 3???

OOC: I believe it is because it was not over an ocean, just through the Mediterranean

Because it only applies to ocean crossings, not seas.

If they die, they respawn at capital IIRC. We discussed this in development I think.

Why oh why does Xi'an, a free religion fool country of the East have any right to say anything about our affairs? HMM?

My next question is, how did he manage to get 9 territories in Israel as the cap is 6?

Is it just me, or has this game been heavily favoring the pope?

I am still pretty sure it costs 2 points of the territory is not directly connected to the capital. Can a GM (Other then Cull because his nation is the one in question) confirm this?

Edit: X-post

I am recommending that Math stays neutral in the Mecca issue, and am recommending that Cull backs out of the Middle East

Because it only applies to ocean crossings, not seas.
So in theory I could claim 6 territories in west africa next update

Does the Papacy have any plans to expand in the Middle East beyond their claims of Jerusalem?

We wish to create acceptable borders with Persia and Egypt, and as much north as we can until we reach Byzantine.

And it does not IIRC. You can claim I'm supporting myself, but truly if it was someone else I WOULD SAY THE SAME THING.

Why do I need to back out of the Middle East, Xi'an?

Explain how.

EDIT: Its slanted toward the Pope, because of the number of players in Europe who are Catholic. This is during the 1400s where the Pope's word was still taken relatively seriously by Catholics. And because I play well. :p

relatively? no one listened to the pope when he requested a crusade to save Byzantium. in 1453.

Why do I need to back out of the Middle East, Xi'an?
1. You claimed 9 territories last turn, 6 is the cap according to the rules
2. The Muslims got there first, and based on you aggressive a war exactly like the Israel-Palestine will start.
3. You expansion is to aggressive
4. You being way to aggressive to my ally, Byzantium.
5. I see no reason to have the papal states, a theocratic country in Italy control the holy lands of Judaism and Islam. The high Jewish and Muslim populations are probably being poorly treated, as after all your country is a theocracy.

And it does not IIRC. You can claim I'm supporting myself, but truly if it was someone else I WOULD SAY THE SAME THING.
I believe you, my current complaint is how you got 9 territories while everyone else got 6.

You cheat, it is cheating if you get more claims then anyone else. The pope had power in the 1100-1300, but after that the church lost power. As math said, nobody backed his crusade for Constantinople.

Explain how you could get territories in Israel, as Israel is not across an ocean, the rules allow you to take it, as Africa is not across an ocean, the rules allow me to take it.

1. If that's true, I'm sorry and ask that I am new claims.

2. Because they started there.

3. AND?

4. They are excommunicated from the Church when they still were Christian. As far as I'm concerned, they are a rogue state.

5. CHRISTIAN THEOCRACY

EDIT: @Bob: What if I don't stop?

Jerusalem isn't a Muslim holy site. tis one of them but not THE holy site.

The phrase used in the rules is "viable sea routes", so no, IMHO China to West Africa should not be possible

Jerusalem isn't a Muslim holy site. tis one of them but not THE holy site.
It is one of the 4 main holy sites. Jerusalem is considered the holy lands of Christianity, Islam and Judaism.

1. If that's true, I'm sorry and ask that I am new claims.
I am complaining that your getting more claims then anyone else simply because your the pope, last time I checked the Papal states lost wars to Austria and France, and were a small nation in central Italy. The pope never had a massive empire so you can't say
I get more land claims because I am the pope

2. Because they started there
Exactly, your being as aggressive as you were in IOT2 for no reason. As they started there they have a right to the land.

And that agression starts wars

They are excommunicated from the Church when they still were Christian. As far as I'm concerned, they are a rogue state.
They are my allies, if you attack them, your attacking me.

CHRISTIAN THEOCRACY
Thats why I have a problem with you owning a place with higher Muslim and Jewish populations then Christian, you'll start another Spanish Inquisition.

Please don't bring IOT2 or IOT4 or any previous games into this. And historical accurcary be damned. And I thought I got my 6, not 9.

And I'm roleplaying a medieval Catholic pope. And that aggression is practically the current pope's style,

I counted 3 times, as I was really surprised. You 'accidentally' took 9 territories in Israel, not 6. i think you should get less claims this time.

OOC: Could you guys take some of this to PM's and VM's? It's getting kinda annoying

IC: The Kingdom of Spain supports the Popes claims to the Holy Land. He is trying to help his faithful followers by securing the city of Jerusalem. If the Muslims wanted it, then they should have taken it before the Pope.
