INTERNAL NEWS: GLORIOUS RECONSTRUCTION ERA
Welcome back, glorious soldiers of the Motherland! Welcome back, glorious soldiers of All the Chinas, who have fought for the sovereignty of their nations against the terrible tyranny that once governed the east of our nation. Welcome back, liberators of China! But our war, you must realize, is not over yet! For you have arrived home to a desolate land, a land ravaged by war and attrition, and a land filled to the brim with the poor, the homeless, and the unemployed. No doubt you know this already, however, as we are all together brothers in this new fight as we were in the old, this new fight against poverty, against illiteracy, and against all that may continue to divide the Chinese peoples in our new utopia. Indeed, you soldiers, you must know that we civilians, we remainder of the glorious Chinese population have nothing but the greatest respect for you, who upheld the integrity of the Chinese peoples, who upheld the sovereignty of the Chinese nation, and who have defended the glorious ideals of China for centuries to come. As such, the Chinese government recognizes your grand accomplishments, but also the dire situations that you find yourself returning to.
We here in China, from the most unfortunate brother begging on the streets of Chéngdū, ravaged by Japan and its slave-driving, to the most fortunate brother teaching at the esteemed Sìchuān Dàxué, recognize the poor state of the nation that we Chinese find ourselves in. As such, we here, the bureaucracy in Chéngdū, have taken it upon ourselves to initiate a Great Flight Forwards, headed by you, the glorious soldiers and officers that headed Chinese victory. For as you return home, we have already created jobs, jobs that will take China forwards, and jobs that you will fill alongside the current unfortunate souls that occupy the streets of China. We will, together with you soldiers, together will all those in China, take strides, leaps, and flights forwards, making China truly the greatest power that the world has ever seen.
But how shalt we do such?
As Chéngdū has analyzed so far, there are major problems with China right now, excepting unemployment. We have distilled these problems down into these categories:
1. Sanitation and General Quality of Life
2. Transportation
3. Industrialization
First and foremost, it is imperative to Chéngdū that we must assist those in peril within the borders of China. We, as well as you all, we know, have recognized the absolutely terrible quality that a majority of our Chinese citizens live in during this current state of time. Whether it be by the rapid expansion into ravaged territories of former China, or by the terrible atrocities committed by Japan, or the lack of work put into improving quality of life in our grand cities, Chéngdū henceforth promises to the incoming soldiers, to the Chinese currently living in these cities, and to the homeless on the streets of these cities, that help will promptly arrive for all your problems. For now has arrived the Grand Reconstruction Initiative, which will outline the modernization, sanitization, and expansion of the once-great cities of China. At the moment, the Grand Reconstruction Initiative will solely cover only a few cities, those being: Chéngdū, Guǎngzhōu, Shàntóu, Shēnzhèn, Dōngguǎn, Hángzhōu, Wǔhàn, Xī'ān, Nánjīng, Xiānggǎng, Chóngqìng, Quánzhōu, Wēnzhōu, Qīngdǎo, Xiàmén, Zhèngzhōu, Nánchāng, Chángshā, Tàiyuán, and Lāsà, however, the Initiative will be expanded to several other cities within the near future. What the Grand Reconstruction Initiative will detail will be the following: First and foremost, the cleaning of trash and demolishing of old structures that would posit a sizable safety hazard to nearby inhabitants, second, the refurbishing and reorganization of all the streets within these cities, third, the refurbishing of the sewer systems of these cities, fourth, the refurbishing, reconstruction, and construction of old and new housing units within these cities, fifth, the refurbishing, reconstruction, and construction of government and business-related buildings within these cities, sixth, the reestablishment of a police force, firefighting force, and sanitation workforce within these cities. Of the twenty above cities, we will be able to designate 50,000 workers from the military and 50,000 from the civilian force to each city, giving each city force approximately a 100,000-strong pool of manpower to complete the above objectives. Given government funding, the workforce designated to the Reconstruction Initiative, and the great drive of the Chinese peoples, we will estimate a time of completion of this project in around one and a half years. Second on the priority list for the revival of China is its long-defunct transportation system. Not since nearly a century ago have the Chinese people been able to traverse the great diverse lands that comprise China without difficulty. As such, the government in Chéngdū, in accordance with the regional government in Lāsà, has formalized the decision to refurbish and build a new national highway system and railway system to benefit the peoples of China and the new industries that our glorious country will soon support. There will be no city left unconnected, no person left unconnected by our fantastic new transportation system. Third on the list is industrialization, a word thrown around the cities of China for centuries. However, despite this, China has never truly reached its full potential as an industrial superpower. While several nations nowadays such as our friends in Gangnam and Indonesia have exploited their land to its own maximum potential, forlorn China has never seen the benefit of being a maximal efficiency industrial nation with its own potential fully unlocked. While factories in China remain unfilled and men and women on the streets remain jobless, it is the duty of Chéngdū and our comrades to give the greatest gift that we may bestow upon the Chinese people and the Chinese nation. From now on, this will be the greatest aspect of China. We will, with the hearts, minds, and bodies of the Chinese people in mind, take a great flight forwards in excelling the capacity of the Chinese nation and its peoples. First and foremost, to power our grand endeavors, we must increase our power output nigh tenfold. To that extent, the uranium and thorium mines in Tibet will be expanded and viable locations for new mines will be scouted out. In addition, fourteen new TBR plants will be constructed within all the cities listed above, excluding those [Chéngdū, Lāsà, Guǎngzhōu] that already have plants in the general vicinity. Assistance for this portion of the project will come in part from the Grand Reconstruction Initiative, but mainly from the ex-military and unfortunates as well. In addition, construction of various hydropower projects across China are to be initiated. To further fuel Chinese industrial development, the opening and refurbishing of various mines across China, mainly those that produce antimony, copper, iron, manganese, molybdenum, lead, zinc, tungsten, tin, and mercury, will be a top priority. Finally comes the industrialization itself that will lead China to be the premier economic power on earth. Grand factories will arise throughout China. Factories that produce the now almost perfected biosynthetic plastics, factories that produce metallic goods, most importantly factories that produce consumer and luxury goods, for the betterment of the Chinese people, factories that produce vehicles for the transportation of the Chinese people, factories that produce armaments for the protection of the Chinese people. These are all essential factories to build and man that will both reduce Chinese unemployment and provide a new path to a greater working, efficient China of tomorrow. We will begin today, and we will continue to see glorious and massive improvement in the lives of the Chinese from now on. Projected time frame: ten years. Power plants should and will be finished within one year, transportation within two, mines within five, and factories will never stop being constructed, work opportunities will never stop being created for the glorious soldiers and unfortunates that constitute Chinese society.
In addition, to herald the coming of a new age of peace, prosperity, and greater cooperation across the globe, Chéngdū and Lāsà have seen fit to reduce the current military emphasis the China Is set upon. Nonetheless, this does not mean that China will be abandoning its proud, glorious, and prestigious military, nigh-unparalleled throughout the entire globe. Instead, we are merely cutting down the total size of the combined Free Chinese Military to approximately 6,000,000 standing men and women, those who wish to remain steadfast and resolute in their defense of their nation. In addition, we, in the spirit of defending the glorious motherland in the most peaceful way possible, are expanding the naval and aeronautical capabilities of China, hand in hand with our economic advancements, in order to defend a better China, and to fully protect China and Its people from the foolish, trigger-happy hands and guns of far too many nations abroad. Finally, China recognizes the new age of peace that East Asia has now entered, for the most part, and will be able, once the internal situation has stabilized, to send its own peacekeeping missions, primarily diplomatic and aid, to Japan.
All in all, welcome back, soldiers, welcome back to China. Welcome back to a new China. Welcome back, those unemployed and those unfortunates. Welcome back to your China. Always remember that, never for several thousand years has China been held back, restrained, under the petty will of another. Always remember that, under the guidance of we and you the proletarians of the greatest nation on earth, China, We will progress beyond the farthest sights of those around us. China will remain glorious, China will remain mighty.
And you will help us.
FOREIGN POLICY: COME TO CHINA
China
In an effort to help revitalize China's domestic economy in the post-war period, the United Arab Republic is interested in bilateral trade of needed goods and technologies.
Any assistance in reviving and forwarding the glorious Chinese economy would be greatly appreciated. China is interested in your proposition, and will henceforth accept further discussion on the finer details.
Thorium Reactors for Australia
This morning Prime Minister David Walker announced Australia's plans to begin funding for Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors and increased Thorium mining operations. Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactors or LFTR are an improvement over regular Nuclear reactors for multiple reasons. First and foremost Thorium is an extremely abundant compared to Uranium, especially in Australia which has 19% of the worlds Thorium deposits. In addition to using a far more abundant material LFTR don't have to operate at high pressure and is far more efficient than Uranium. Over all Thorium is safer because of the way Thorium reactors are built and run. Perhaps the best advantage of LFTR is that the waste is very difficult to make weapons.
Because of the advantages LFTR has with energy production, and how abundant Thorium is in Australia this probably doesn't come as a surprise. The government has begun work on the first LFTR and will continue to build and operate reactors until they will provide the sole source of electricity for the nation, replacing much older and outdated fossil fuels. Research is also being done to make smaller reactors for use in the Australian Navy
In the spirit of fostering great international cooperation, and in the spirit of furthering scientific collaboration, not to mention warn the Australians of their current dabbling in already obsolete technologies, the Grand Union of the Six Nations of China would like to, after years of research conducted primarily in Sìchuān Dàxué, assist the Australians in their thorium-power program, an area in which the Chinese are already internationally recognized as the global leaders. Naturally, as has been seen by public government and Sìchuān Dàxué released reports, the old fluoride MS-based reactors were efficient enough, but not quite to the level as had been hoped or hypothesized, after which, just a mere two years ago, we had begun conducting formerly secret research on various other molten salt media to use for the reactor. Since then, we have discovered that a methylpyridinium bromide/lithium bromide mixture, usually referred to now as the 'magic' MpLiBr solution, provides the optimally safe and efficient conditions for the thorium reactors which we run in comparison with the obsolete LFTR models. More information, as well as rudimentary blueprints for basic LBTR's can be provided upon request, and we would be happy to assist our Australian comrades in any further way they might desire.
