I don't think I need to revamp my time estimate yet. Recently, though, some information came to light that people who are colourblind still have brain regions devoted to seeing colour - which means I won't be completely unprepared for the results of any treatments (though a bit of re-learning will be required).

*Feeling urge to change back to good ol' Viper.*

Changed my user title to Flailing Maniac. Just like this little guy :run:

He's second only to :splat: for me

Changed my user title to Busy Studying because that's what I currently am doing (well, not this instant because I'm on break). :D

My grades are slipping, so measures must be taken, beginning with reducing CFC time.

Can we not spam this place and get back to talking about other people's Titles n avatars?

I'm thinking of changing my avatar and title to something more representative of me personally. I like the Ninth Charm, but half the pictures for me in the Alternative Member Photos threads are of boats and/or pirates, which gets a little ... disappointing, shall we say. I've never even seen it! I've only been on ferries between Dover and Calais, apart from one trip to watch an island covered in puffins! Does anyone have any suggestions, or shall I go and spam the Avatar Help Thread instead?

Edit: here's one I was thinking of having, but I doubt it would shrink well.

Are there actually prospects of a cure for colour deficiency?

What do people think of my very first avatar

You should get a custom avatar. :p

Sophie; try that picture out! We'll miss the boat, but that photo seems to fit you too (even better, actually).

They're transplanting neural stem cells into rats' eyes, and they're gaining token vision as a result. I'm hoping that the equivalent can be done for rods, in people (and we can guess it's possible). One worry I used to have is that we wouldn't have the neural circuitry to see in colour, but I'm starting to be swayed into the 'hopeful' category with insights from studies into synesthesia (otherwise, adults that are given vision due to a corrective surgery never really 'pick up' on using their eyes, if they've been blind since early childhood).

While some of the rats are receiving cones while young, Dr. Michael Young is having some success in restoring light sensitivity to older rats through stem cell injection. I'm sure that momentum will build in this area, as breakthroughs are made.
