In which we discuss Madurismo

Yes, but this time it's with the explicit encouragement and cooperation of the Venezuelan oligarchy.

Well, Venezuela encouraged the anti-Castro exiles, many of whom were flat-out terrorists, to operate there during the Cold War. They even hired Cuban exiles for their own intelligence service, while these same exiles were blowing up airplanes and killing Italian tourists in Cuba. So this isn't really a new thing. Though having a non-state actor like Hezbollah involved might be.

Especially a group of religious nuts, couple it with Capriles being accused of beign a Jew and…

Venezuela and the US are chumming up at the OAS… this might be a US reaction to the Chinese wanting to open a second Pacific-Atlantic channel in Nicaragua, and Maduro'll be desperate by now with all the shortages at hand.
Kind of an up there (if we ignore the hypocrisy) but for a real down Chávez has been awarded a posthumous condecoration award in the name of journalism. Egads.

Can anyone point out good points that would somehow justify all this nonsense? A rational response would be welcome.

it seems coherent with any other regime and even with most so called democracies. The spiritual link bit is the only nonsense but it's mostly folklore.

Venezuela has started rationing programmes because of corrupt capitalist interference.

The articles listed in the article are: rice, cooking oil, beef, lentils, maize flour, pasta, chicken, powdered milk, sugar, toothpaste, soap (for personal use and for washing dishes), diapers and toilet paper.

Apparently an app to find places where it's actually feasible to find these products has been created: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=engtoolsdev.abasteceme.com.

What a joke Venezuela has become. 21st century socialism my arse.

The electronic trackign bits of the program have been dropped a few days ago, but the rest remains.

The Bolivarian Liberation Forces (Fuerzas Bolivarianas de liberación) issue the following communiqué:

Link to video.

An offensive against the bourgeoisie, transnational capitals, etc. etc.
They claim to defend the interests of the Chavist 'revolution', in the name of the people, blah blah blah. Ho-weee!

Could you summarize the findings? My Spanish isn't quite holding up to it but from what I can tell is that although the elections were about as good as could be expected, the role the PSUV plays in the executive, judiciary, legislative, administrative, and business fields made the election biased in favor of Maduro.

Did you read about the military summoning people to vote through clarion calls? It also goes on to mention the illegal plastering of all walls inside barracks with iamges of the dead leader. And of course starts with the completely irregular way in which Maduro was named caretaker president.

Spoiler Page 21, point 15, translated :

Both the facts (we) observed and the ones (we) inquired about constitute the following electionary crimes:
Not allowing the voter to exercise his right to vote
Putting in action fraudulent mechanisms
Favouring acts of fraudulent vote
[illegally] Bearing arms
Disturbing public order
Disturbing democracy
Escorting to 'assist' voting more than one person (I don't know the legal name for that, it's in the Venezuelan electoral code)
Impeding disabled voters from voting

In a new bout of insanity, Maduro has declared that Jesus Christ was incarnated in Chávez.

OMG.

OMG.

Maybe he can cure the tens of thousands of Venezuelans and tourists in Venezuela infected with the damn H1N1 virus!

Even more so, now he has started a hotline for anyone who wants to denounce 'conspiracies' by the 'fascist right' and the 'yellow [press] bourgeoisie'.
0-800-SABOTAJE (0-800-72268253)

So the question remains: Is Maduro this much of a nut, or is this what happens when Venezuela looses the moderating influence of Chavez on his cult?
