Here's a quick loot at the start:

Spoiler :

Settings are:
Standard Map size
Fractal
Epic Speed
Deity Difficulty

I explored briefly in my game, there is a source of stone nearby, floodplains, and a non-protective neighbour (who can be the victim of an early quecha rush :) )

I wanted to make a thread similar to the "The Flying Dutchman: Diety Adventures", and see if anyone can manage to pull off a victory here, and have some dicussion about strategy.

I'm asking people to make a checkpoint at 2000BC, 1AD, 500AD, 1000AD, or whenever you feel is a good time to post, and we can compare our games at these points.

Now don't be scared and get to it :king:

Completely off-topic, but hey, why does almost everyone writes diety instead of deity??
Every time I read it I think of sugarless stuff.

I'm going to play along. Here's my first post.

Spoiler :
I've played a few turn now. I decide to go for a Great Wall instead of quecha-rush. Suleiman is definietly vulnerable to an early rush but I think he's little bit too far and I may miss all those good cities near my Capital to other AI's especially Toku and thus be tied to more wars. Unfortunately GW was built and pretty damn fast so I thought to skip all early wonders maybe there's wonder-happy AI somewhere maybe lets hope I can build a Great Library with that Marble.

Event.
3150 BC. GW built. You gotta love Deity I had no freaking way to get it.
3100 BC. Bandits are wreaking havoc in Ottomans farmland. Another reason to make an early-rush.

I've finished. I thought to go for an early rush anyway, I have no copper and Suleiman is REXing fast as imperialistic, maybe I can slow him down with quechas. I started to spam queches in my Capital. I hope I'm not too late as far I know quecha-rush means you start to spam them immediately in your Capital as the game start. I'm not experiences with that though.

Last, things looks very bad. Imperialistic and warmonger as my neighbour these cause me a lot of headache and one reason why I don't play Civ currently. Warmonger and imperialistic can become very powerful very fast especially if Toku and Suleiman decide to be buddies. I can say for sure that I need help with Toku maybe Hannibal can help me here.

In one version of Civ (I can't remember if it was Civ 3 or Vanilla Civ 4), Deity was mispelt as "Diety" in the hall of fame. This incorrect spelling seems to have persisted. I find it somewhat irritating.

Spoiler :
So, I sent my 4 Quechas immediately to make sure that Copper stays unconnected unfortunately that wasn't the case 2 axemen appeared and killed my group of quechas so I thought I've had enough.

THE END.

So here's how my game is turning out:

Build order:
Quecha, Quecha, workboat, Quecha.

3450BC:
I spotted an opportunity to capture a worker from Suileman so I took it, why bother wasting 23 turns when your dominant Quecha's can just steal em from a rival civ?

Spoiler :

Civ4ScreenShot0201.jpg

Civ4ScreenShot0202.jpg

you can see on the stats screen:' workers: current:1, built:0'

3000BC:
I roam around Suleimans Territory looking for more workers to nap, (its really funny, since even tho he has 4-5 archers, they won't ever attack my quechas). I realize that he must have just built a settler in his capital, and took a few archers to protect the settler, so his Capital only has 1 ARCHER DEFENDING IT!

So.. After laughing for quite a while at the AI's stupidy I moved in my 3 quehcas for the grab:

Spoiler :

And Bam!
Civ4ScreenShot0207.jpg

This is why Quechas, I beleive are the most powerfull UU in the game.
Early capital grabs are possible, even on Deity. This is also why on the HOF thread you notice alot of games have "Opponents: must include Inca(Hayuna Capac) as one of thier rules.
I've also done this many a time on my immortal , so I was able to pulll it off here as well. (I basically play Inca 99% of my offline games)

So things are looking pretty good, I built a settler in Cuzco, and founded my second city by the floodplains, I also captured a few more workers (gotta love the stupid AI), and am going for Greatlighthouse/ToA combo in my capital. Not sure if I should sue for peace, or try and grab Suleimans second city or not.

Very nice indeed cheffster. :goodjob:

Though if i compair your game to ruler´s i´d say Quecha rush is the only way to have any chance in this game.

I´ll advise ppl not to look into Rulers post is they want to play. *Worldbuilder* screenshots.... :(

Looking forward to the update cheffster

that looks like a great capital nab from Sully. and i would say, a better spoiler alert is needed for rulers post lol, but that is crazy.

As a first order, I decided to take out Sulieman's last city.

Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0220.jpg

I knew that if I left it for later, that Hannibal or Tokugawa would make him a vassal of thiers and share techs. Before I'd have a chance to finish Suleiman, I bet I'd be facing longbows/maceman vs my quechas, I figured its best to take full advantage of my current upper hand.

The maintence is sure going to kill me having these distant cities, but as I learned from Unconquered Sun's amazing thread, in Deity, you need to expand outwards as far as possible otherwise the AI will claim all the land and have 15 cities settled all over place massing units before you can blink. (if u looked at Rulers spoiler before he removed it, that should tell you enough).

So in the meantime I managed to finish the Great Lighthouse in Cuzco:
Spoiler :

.

Then I chopped off some forest in Instabul to hurry the Oracle. Metal casting is an amazingly good tech for me since I'm industrious and can built 1/2 price forges. Furthermore on epic speed, unlike Immortal, where metal casting is only 1095:science:, or on emperor where it's a paltry 1053:science:, I'm saving a whopping 1140:science: by getting it for free. I know there's many CoL pundits out there saying CoL is the best early tech, but since metal casting is the most expensive early tech, grabbing it instead of other techs saves me the maximum research, and also giving me the most leverage on tech trades. ( I can easily trade MC for CoL if I want, but you could never trade CoL for MC)

1375:
About to finish Temple of Artemis in Cuzco. Here's an overall look at the terrain.
Spoiler :
Civ4ScreenShot0228.jpg

Temple of Artemis + Great Lighthouse is the very best possible combo for an early commerce city. Once I have castles/Free market/Beaucracy/Oxford, I often find I can pull over 500:science:/turn just from my capital. Unlike :science: from specialists, Beaucracy adds a multiplier with GLH/ToA since both those wonders increase my base commerce rather then giving me pure :science:, so I gain that extra 50% once I have Civil Service.

Right after ToA, copying my rival civs, I built a work boat to go exploring for other civs in order to tech trade with them. More importantly however, this also prevents them from tech trading too much behind my back, since armed with metal casting- Ill be making sure if there's tech exanges I'm a key player, otherwise I'll have no hope of keeping pace.

I would have liked to hook up that stone looming on what appears to be an island near my capital, but first things first. I had too much other business to attend to, and although I'm a wonder whore/addict and take great pride in completing them almost non-stop, I have to step that line and tell myself you can never get em all, if this was Immortal difficulty I would make a shot at the pyramids, but its almost 1000BC, and I'll be very surprised if they aren't built by then. You can also notice that I have a source of Gems/Gold/Silver all nearby, my forges will give me +3 :), so early represenation would wouldn't raise my happiness cap much, but I will most certainly miss that extra science from settled specialists. If my stone was hooked up, I'd made a shot at them - I love the pyramids and hate letting them go to someone else, but currently, logic tells me the opportunity cost is too high.

Here's another quick look at the terrain.

I have to end it here for now, I'm very busy with things.
I don't want to rush this game and mindlessly press enter, I think I have a decent shot at winning, but I'm fairly new to Deity and would GREATLY appreciate any tips/comments/advice before I continue onwards. Feel free to look at my save.
