infected with a virus when i refresh CFC? twice now

Well, they didn't fix it Monday. I got two more of those grocery card ones in the last 5 minutes, including just now in THIS forum when I came to report the first one. Fifty posted a screenie of what the ad looks like, but I have a copy on my HD if you want to see it again.

Its really hitting me hard too, several attempts to infect my machine so far today. Always with that grocery banner.

I emailed Telefragged about it again last night. They have contacted UGO about it. If you guys still get it after Monday, let me know.

Grocery Card strikes again! about 3 minutes ago!

Yep, just got it as well. Didn't see which banner it was, though.

Thunderfall, you have got to get Telefragged to stop this . .. .. .. .. You're going to start losing people.

EDIT: It happened right after the post completed, so twice now.

It's always handy to have several browsers on your computer. Try Firefox, few popups, and I've never had a problem with the grocery banner, etc. It can't hurt to try it and it is vastly more secure than IE imo.

Doesn't help on my work computer, where we're product-restricted.

I getting the virus push from the grocery ad as well.

That's not good. I emailed Telefragged 3 or 4 times already about this and they also contacted UGO a few times. I have emailed them again. Please keep reporting when you see them.

I highly recommend switching to FireFox if you haven't already. I think those trojan ads use ActiveX, so you are safer with FireFox (which doesn't support ActiveX). You also don't see those once a day ads using FireFox.

If you can't use FireFox for some reason, try increasing IE's browser security setting to HIGH.

Indeed, I've switched to firefox when I did my reformat a couple weeks ago and although I have seen the ad since then it hasn't resulted in a virus.

Hopefully Telefragged or UGO or whatever will get this straightened out though since I'm sure its affecting some lurkers as well.

I just had the same ActiveX problem with the FreeGroceryCard.com ad showing.

It was blocked by Norton Internet Worm Protection. Some info:

Intrusion: HTTP Quicktime RTSP URI BO
Intruder: 80.93.59.108
Protocol: TCP
Attacked port: 1295

If any of that helps track down the source.

Yup......

Hmm...do you still get infected if you terminate iexplore.exe from the task manager? And perhaps disconnect the modem?

Either way, it's rediculous that we're having to deal with this...by now there are multiple screenshots documenting this and a decent amount of information. Telefragged should be able to end this now - there doesn't seem to be any doubt as to what the source is.

*reminds self to never go to CFC with Internet Explorer*

Well what I do is when the Active thing pops up...

Crtl + Alt + Delete, go to applications and shut down IE, I dont get infected then.....
