In other words - some time between now and the day of release! That helps a lot!
No hints today, so I'm guessing no info this week... What is taking them so long? This is really weird...
i think it's a stretch to interpret not revealing some information before release as lashing out. it might have affected their plans, but they have have planned on revealing the information later anyway, maybe even saving it as a surprise for when the game comes out.
edit: on the other hand, they could be "lashing out" against the video game media, although that might even be justified.
I doubt it. They don't seem to attribute the same value to information as we do. We are bloodhounds for novelty. They take the whole potential fanbase into consideration. They put out the last Featurette last week. Those things are aimed at the casual crowd who haven't been tracking every last fact about the game. It wouldn't surprise me if they space the next reveal out from that point a bit.
Kate was at E3, then went to where ever they are making The Bureau at, then had flight issues trying to get home. Maybe she had a Q&A planned for this week. If she did, she has probably shot that idea to hell because of her flight delays.
Whatever they are planning for the last reveal, I would guess that it would be some kind of Grande Finale. It's their last best effort to get the casual crowd interested.
Remember that the Steam leak in January didn't affect the initial announcement, so I doubt the Venice/Shoshone leak affected the final reveal.
Now that we (probably) know the last two civs, perhaps they'll leave it until release so that there's an element of doubt to keep us talking about it. We'll know for sure in another 19 days .
Incidentally, looking around the internet for new information, a couple of sites have just revealed that BNW comes with nine new civilizations and leaders, including Casimir of Poland. How about that for a scoop?

I doubt it - we are a tiny fraction of the Civ 5 community and not the one they want to target, since we are almost guaranteed to buy the expansion. 99% of people who may potentially buy the BNW have not even heard of the Venice or Shoshone speculations.
Which makes me surprised why they keep it so quiet with only 3 weeks left to the release.

I agree with you and am surprised too - but it's pretty much widespread information now - comments on their facebook page, every civ forum worldwide, everywhere that someone interested in civ would look. Casual buyers will only see what's set in stone as website/shop information, e.g. "Nine new civilizations and leaders, including Casimir of Poland".
We should get the magazine articles on Friday. I'm not sure to what extent we can expect any Facebook 'hints' today or tomorrow though, since they seem to be aware that pretty much everyone who checks the page for info already knows.
While I'm grateful to Maelstrom for sharing the info (even though he shouldn't have), I find myself wishing that the Shoshone at least had been kept under wraps (let's face it, we've all known about Venice since April). It would have been fun to at least have one Civ that was a total guess. I'd never have guessed the Shoshone as I'd never heard of them before!
I remember the website for G&K had all the leader screen intros up well before release - it seems that's not going to happen this year. I don't think the marketing for BNW has been nearly as fun (from the POV of a fan who was always going to buy it anyway!) as the G&K marketing was.

I'd agree with that. I remember us having screenshots to work out the information from and a good, steady trickle of new info. It was announced a month earlier in the year and by PAX East, we'd learnt of six civs and found out the 7th and 8th through the course of PAX East. Thing is though, whatever the marketing, I'm certain that they only had to announce that an expansion pack was coming for me to want to buy it; so the marketing (for me and people like me) was to appease my/our need for more info rather than the need to sell it to me/us.
Yea, the marketing strategy for BNW has been rather poor. There's been too many stretches without any info and too much revealed at once. Examining screenshots for little clues is actually quite fun and I like the community efforts to analyze and scrutinize everything that's released.
The featurettes have also been underwhelming and boring. I prefer let's play videos with the developers talking about new features and showing them off rather than a 1 minute clip with the narrator swallowing his own tongue to get all the information crammed in.
At least it's something, which is better than nothing . It tells me there's some more info yet to come before release at the very least. Let's hope for this week!
I guess it's really still 19 days until the game is released in North America, more than that elsewhere. I'm impatient at this point, but there's plenty of time for them to make the final announcements. I don't think there's much less to tell us than to confirm Venice and Shoshone and a few other minor details, so I only expect one more release of information. Probably a week or so before the North American release.
One thing to remember is that the marketing plan for these games is not really focused on the existing fan base but rather on capturing new potential buyers. That's where they spend their money. They just throw the fans bones.
any idea why this is the case? i mean, what's the benefit in terms of marketing of revealing everything weeks in advance? i'd guess with digital downloads, you'd want to create a lot of buzz right around release time. but i don't know anything about making money. (in real life. much better with that in civ. )
