Information Drought?

It'll be like last time, when they sat on the questions until a few weeks before release, and we already knew all the answers.

That's not what I'm hoping for, but yes, that's what I expect. I will be very impressed if they turn the questions back to us in a timely manner. Last year's question thing was a fiasco.

I half expect them to have a series of answers already done and then they go through and find the questions that most closely resemble the answers they already have. Most general questions can be anticipated so if you were asking for people to ask questions then the standard business approach is to already have an answer the the questions you anticipated. It allows you to answer things relatively quickly. It's the way I worked whenever I ran courses - you ask people if they have questions and 90% of the time they ask the same things as the last course.

The drought wasn't to bad for me the last two weeks because my work schedule was so busy. This week it's slow going both at work and here.

So thirsty.

:agree:

Why would they do anything other than this? I'll bet anyone right now they don't answer any question like: "What are all of the remaining Civs in BNW going to be?"

If you read the OP, I anticipated this drought. So I am mentally fortified against it. :c5strength: It's still been kind of hard though.

Yeah, I don't remember feeling anything like this info-starved with Gods and Kings.

The G&K one was actually worse for me because I didn't know what to expect. Now that I have a feel for the crests and troughs of the cycle, I can ride it out better.

Funny, the opposite is true for me - I didn't know what to expect last year, but remembering last year and when everything was announced has given me (false) expectations about BNW, the marketing for which has been very different. For instance, we've only just now got to about the same point info-wise for BNW as we got to for G&K by PAX last year, which is just adding to the impression of how slowly this is going.

Also, from a personal point of view, I think I had other things to focus on this time last year, so I was more distracted. At the moment though I'm mostly just finishing my PhD thesis which means I'm always looking out for more procrastination fuel... :mischief:

Two weeks? It's nearly a month now with only the rev3games video to slake our thirst.:(

To be fair, I thought that was a good video. It didn't lead to days of dissecting screenshots but it gave us some concrete numbers we could start crunching in figuring out how useful things are.

Oh, I didn't mean to imply that it wasn't a good video - it was very well presented and informative! I'd be happy with something like that every week or so, and hopefully that's what the "Enter Brave New World" initiative will bring (though after all the false promises last year I'm not getting my hopes up too high).:)

Same for me. Those final design projects aren't going to make themselves, but I keep checking the forums every 10 minutes or so :crazyeye: I kinda like the drought, as it keeps me interested, unlike a steady but dull stream of small chunks of info.

Hey, I'm finishing my masters final project too! Glad to meet some fellow procrastinators here

Worst part is I can't even play Gods & Kings to pass the time...I research Animal Husbandry, can't build a caravan unit and then rage-quit.

There are contradictory dates, as usual. There are August ones, October ones, and even a fail-safe December 31st one. CA published a photo of a pair of dice (alea iacta est) showing the sum of 9, so it's either August 9th or September... And a Greek States DLC was announced :crazyeye:

Anyway, Rome 2 suffered from similar info droughts we are going through now.

Get out of my mind!

I know... It's not the same thing anymore. Feels like playing an incomplete game. :(
