Information Drought?

The info drought thread serves three purposes:

Speculate on when we might get new info
Talk about the info we currently have if the conversation flows that way
Make water-related metaphors and puns

The Venice talk falls under option 2 unless we speculate about when or how they'll reveal Venice (in which case it'll be option 1). I do think a good argument should be made to reveal Venice in a way that's even harder to figure out. Showing a small piece of the leader screen and adding more puzzle pieces could work. Gajah Mada would have worked really well for that, for example, by revealing the upper left corner building first followed by the water, followed by his jewelry, fat body, and face.

Yeah they should do a puzzle piece reveal. Have they done that before? I have the memory of a goldfish

They did that for the last civ reveal, Sweden, in G&K. I remember a few people still holding onto the idea it was Shaka. (Although the first piece of the puzzle revealed was pretty vague anyways, so I don't blame them - I was one of those people too, but I quickly gave up when I realized the elements didn't make sense)

Revealing Venice would be challenging for them. As soon as it even looks remotely European, we are going to start screaming Venice. Just like how a shadow with feathers on its head made everyone jump on Shaka. Or how a little desert made everyone assume Morocco.

Revealing the NA civ would be much more interesting. We should be able to break down the region that the civ is from, but we will just have to plow through a bunch of paintings of various leaders in order to pin it down more than that.

If they word-play hint the civ, I would be down for that, but riddles about the leader is another kettle of fish entirely. We all love Dandolo, but there were tons of Doges, and probably a solid dozen worth consideration. They tended to only serve the office for a handful of years each, so there are a lot more of them than of monarchs who hold the throne for life. It would be challenging to go through wikipedia's Doge list trying to find one whose accomplishments match the riddle.

Word clues could be fun, we had a lot of fun discussing which dynasty was struck by madness and tragedy.
Although I think by now we'd guess any civ pretty quickly.

At Pax, EVERYONE already knew Assyria was going to be in - Brazil was a nice surprise, though!
EVERYONE knew about Shaka - but guessing Maria I was a reasonable challenge (we thought it was Morocco, or Mughals, or the Timurids; the background was the sea, no it was the sky; the architecture is wrong, the feather is wrong; the scepter was actually a sword... It wasn't until we could link the architecture with Palacio da Pena that we were sure that it was, in fact, Portugal, and even then most people thought it would be Maria II).
EVERYONE knew the first icon was Morocco, and while everyone also knew the second was Indonesia, guessing the leader went in circles, because the icon was too lean, but it didn't have a crown and and and... (admittedly, Morocco was also moving in circles between two or three leaders).

So I'm really expecting that the Venice revelation will go over us in a "yeah, we already knew that" way, but the remaining civ will most probably grant us a good dose of speculation! :)

I think it is the fault of Euro 2K. I don't think they are going to get as many Likes this time, since we've already seen it.

I actually think we already know that the 8th/9th civ is Venice (I'd be stunned if it wasn't) and a Native American civ, probably Sioux but I'd love Pueblo who sounded cool at PAX.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Though they might be called the Lakota instead, Rise of Nations-style. Still, Sioux IS the classic name.

I counted at least 5 Hitlers for the guesses for Gajah Mada, as well as everything from the Ukraine to Путин?]. I doubt it's much of a worry for them.

Unless it actually is the Sioux and they have Sitting Bull in a giant feather headdress that even a dark silhouette couldn't hide...
 
Is there anybody else around here who has stopped playing G&K for the longest time?


Haven't touched the game in what feels like forever and just waiting for BNW to come out
