Inquisitors

Omurtag,

I agree that since Mecca now has the Globe theater built will be a good place for National Epic and future wonders.

Santiago is good too but when I look at the picture I think we should get rid of the cottages and replace with farms/workshops. (maybe just keep a cottage or two that has grown)

Cuzco I am not sure as it only has Iron but the 4 forest are appealing. The only thing with that it's on grasslands which will only give two hammers with lumbermill. 4*2=8 hammers total with another 5 coming for Iron. Personally I would like to see a better base than this. Again here too we could add more farms/workshops to compensate. It has potential but needs to be worked.

For Santiago/Cuzco we could make sure that only engineers are used although we can only use one most of the time until factories. Santiago with IW will be able to have more.

Berlin as a science sounds good and having the parthenon there helps with the GP points overall.

Seville for Wall Street also good as long as it is producing the most commerce. Pardon moi but that's where the shrine is correct?

@LuvtoBuild....I just sort became part of this when the creator disappeared. If it's ok with the guys we could use a fill-in for Adiii until he gets back.
I am enjoying this as I too rarely play Isabella and the game is going very well.

Ok, thank you for the input guys. I actually didn't build any wonders on my turn, so no harm is done regarding the city cpecialization :)

Preturn: I saw that we have three priest specialists in Madrid, and I gave them other professions. Why would we want another GProphet?

Turn 1
Alex gets the circumnavigation bonus. We capture the last iron mine of Bismark, no more pikemen for you Bizi :D

Turn 2
We are the first to liberalism, wohooo  Krockel said Steel, steel it is :) Research set to Printing Press. I actually stopped the research for two turns, b/c I wanted to upgrade some cats to canons. Meanwhile Bismark makes a pathetic try to settle another city, the result - we got another worker. The fact that I fired the priests in Madrid, didn't help, a Great Prophet is born in Madrid. I will fortify him there, and let the the team decide what to do with him. Also switched from Slavery to Serfdom, b/c we have a lot of land to improve.

Turn 3
Peter shows up with an offer, and I accept:

1620tradeol3.jpg

Turn 5
We capture Frankfurt, two cats lost in process, but nothing else. Beer and Frankfurter sausage for all :D

Turn 9
We trade ivory for stone to Alex. Thus we can build the Spiral Minaret in Madrid for less time.

Turn 10
The last day of war, Bismark's cities are down to 0% and we are ready to attack... Charge!!! The canons really kick a$$ this early in the game, not only they do nice colateral damage, but they actually kill their targets. Something I couldn't say about the cats  No more suicidal cats. The attack succeeds, and we take both cities. Finally I got the glory of destroying a civ... oh wait. Something is wrong, Bismark is still alive. He must be having another city... I bought a map from Peter and lo and behold:

1650stuttgartcm7.jpg

No glory for me :hammer2: Stuttgart is on Peter's continent, and there's more land in the south-west part of the map (not surprisingly.) Big, big problem, war weariness is killing us, and we cannot end the war, can we? If Stuttgart was a christian city, we would have had the option to make Bismark convert and sign a peace treaty. But is' not. However if we give libreralism to Peter he will declare war on Bismark, and hopefully capture his last city. I think this is the right thing to do.

Research set to replacable parts. Although we have big expenses, we are doing well in the science department, except for the fact that Peter has economics, but we have steel instead :) Have fun Adamlan!

Nah, that's okay. Looks like you guys are having a lot of fun but it'll be over before much longer at this pace. Looking forward to the new one we have planned. What are the chances though of having a team SG some time? Maybe split up the guys from here and Power of Religion into two or three opposing religions? Maybe a Buddhist/Hindu team, Confucian/Taoist team and a Jewish/Christian/Islamic team.

I'm not sure how team SGs work because I've never played multiplayer but something like that sounds like fun to me. No silly AIs to deal with. All crazy human stuff

Luvtobuild

That's also an interesting idea but how would the game mechanics work??

So each player would be human on each SG all playing together as team. This something I know little about but like the idea. I just don't necessarily understand how each player could interact with each other in the game meaning if one player wants to trade how does he get the other to respond?
Would this have to be set up in a multi player environment direct IP? Then the play times would have to be very specific which is another area I know little about. Since we are all in different time zones but most of us are in North America it could be tricky to getting everybody together. Pigswill lives in England, Krockel lives in Sweden so they are close to GMT +0 time. Only two players don't advertise their whereabouts adamlan/chunky the rest are in North America. Perhaps you could provide some of your brilliant insights as the game mechanics as I am sure the idea would stimulate interest.

Here are two games that are playing with human players. The second link is finished so that's the best to learn the dynamics. But in some fashion they are playing the AI still.

Good turns omurtag!

Good you unassigned the priests in Madrid; I hired them to get some more shields for the cathedral that was built there during my turnset.

Liberalism and steel for free was important for this war heavy game. Canons will do wonder for our coming campaign against Monty, or could we convert him, we should try at least! :)

Great Prohets should, according to me, be settled in Seville. Seville needs production and the cash will multiply with Wallstreet.

Spinaral Minaret would be nice bonus in this particular game, good call on beging to build it.

Peter seams to be on the same continent after all. A small bit of landmass connects him with Montys land.

I think having some other civs declare on Bismarck is good solution. Liberalism is quite expensive though. So I thought about our other Christian pal, the great (and opportunistic) Alexander. Opening the save revealed that all he demands for declaring on Germany is Paper, which is a decent price. The questions regarding this are two:
1. Does the Spanish inquisition take help from other civs?
2. Will Alex only get into a phoney war?

Yep I agree we can bribe Alex he is our brother. But might be a phony war and would like to see that last city disappear. Peter is the better option as Bismarck's city is right on his border. He is more likely to take it. We will need transports to get us to Bismarck's last city which can be a pain. But we should finish him to get rid of that "motherland" and stick with the variant to basically wipe them out. Then after that we should regroup, and go after Monty. Monty will never OB to let us send missionaries for conversion so I suggest we try once for OB and if that fails consider a good time to attack. He can be a force to deal with sometimes but not all the time. It depends if he is friendly with Alex/Peter. If so then he might have decent techs if not he is backwards.

I think it's ok to use some help from either Peter or Alex as long as they are brothers in faith. Peter is the founder of Islam so our friendship miight not last till the end of the game. However we could easily sweep him once we have transports.

But there is something I don't understand - How did Bismark settle that city? Galleys don't enter the ocean, and I don't see a land connection between our continent and their continent.

Peter seams to be on the same continent after all. A small bit of landmass connects him with Montys land.

That's really disturbing, because I don't see it. True Monty has a city on Pter's continent, but there is no connection between our continent and Peter's continent. Do you guys see any?

Omurtag,

I just looked and Monty has a cultural connection to that continent meaning that any friendly civs (pleased too with OB) can travel it. Even though there are ocean tiles galleys can travel cultural connection over ocean tiles.

I also checked the Bismarck is pleased with Monty and Alex is pleased with him too.

Oh BTW guys, the team from "The power of Religion" is interested in starting a two team comparison to see who can win the fastest. It's based on two ideas of religion. One is Atheistic "Buddhism/Taoism/Confucianism" (religions that don't observe a deity as such) and the other team Monotheistic "Judaism/Christianity/Islamic". The team that finishes first with highest score is the winner. Too bad no prize money though. Cheapskates.

It would be on Monarch and we are thinking of trying with Mansa Musa.

This SG is moving along pretty good and I think that victory is upon us soon. Just Monty and maybe Peter if he switches and that is likely a domination win. In a way it might be good if Peter switches so as to make that happen. I think if they both stay Christian it would mean seeking another method to gain victory. Although we have a very healthy empire and when I look again we might have domination with Monty

If Bismarcks last city is on another continent I think we should give liberalism to Peter for declaring on him.

Cosmic: Intresting idea, count me in on that one! :)

You are in Krockel and anyone else here is welcome to join. We have started a discussion thread regarding the competitive SG's which is linked in my signature. It has sparked a warning from an experienced SG'er who thinks it is controversial but we debated that one out. Just to define that Atheism is not necessarily anti religion but non recognition of a Deity. Some Buddhist (not all) call themselves Atheistic (as I recently learned) and can be considered a description for Confucianism/Taoism which are philosophical understanding and do not recognize a Deity either. So that is the theme in general.

So take a look and let me know if you are interested. It would be fun seeing how each SG would progress.

I probably shouldn't commit to another one right now, but it is a fairly slow summer and I should be able to fit it in. Looks like fun! Plus, the Inquisitors is going really well and probably will wrap up fairly soon.

If we do run long enough here, eventually Alex or Peter will probably switch to Free Religion. That would be enough to trigger our final battles.

Adamlan you are up. I repeated the roster because of the correspondence after it.

ive jus tryed loading the save it wont let me so i wud skip my set of turns so we can keep the game moving itll take me bout 2 days to fix it

Ok Adamlan, We'll skip you. Is it your machine and not the save??

That makes you up Foolonthehill.

I say we go for domination as diplomatic is a long way off. How about Monty he needs some reeducating.
