Interesting Screenshots

He means that there's a LB in a boat in that city, which will pop up to defend on the next attack. Hence why the Cav didn't capture the city despite the "top defender" seemingly being a worker.

I didn't think units in ships were eligible to defend? I would suspect a multi-regicide king, bit do the AI move those?

Well, technically they're on the tile, so if your unit tries to move in they'll engage in combat. I've seen a ship appear as the city's defender (as the worker did here) because it was carrying a unit.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh ok.

Ever get the feeling that the AI is watching every move you make? Hey, who invited these guys to the weekly meeting!

I was trading techs on the IBT because ToE was building and I was behind on techs with the AI. I was trying to catch up on the tech tree leading to tanks instead of picking Radio. I meant to swap to combustion, but as it turns out I still selected Radio by mistake. :crazyeye:

Ah, yes, I've had that happen to me multiple times. One way you can do it on purpose is by clicking on the Foreign Advisor's head when you're in diplomacy with someone else.

I asked for a pangea map
And you got a pangea map.

Every one I've gotten has a big glob of land with most of the AIs and then a large island with a lone civ. Not what I first expected.

But then, even with a continents map, there are islands, so it would follow that there would be islands on a pangea map, too.

I know, but it's still a weird pangea map,

Are they implying that Byzantine currency is debased? Interestingly, he'd trade gold for gold in lower amounts, but nothing over fourteen. The Persians had been reduced to one city in the back end of their continent: I haven't mapped anything but the other coastline, so I'm not sure who they lost to...but they were probably swallowed up by the Romans. Certainly the Romans can claim credit for finishing them off -- Xerxes was foolish enough to join Egypt's war against Rome, and Rome quickly took Arbela.

(And yes, yes, I know. Despotism in the middle ages? I'd been in a state of constant war -- first the Turks, Vikings, Turks and Germans, Turks again... -- and I wanted to wait until my warmongering was finished before switching into Republic. It worked well enough on my big continent. It's the late medieval ages and I still haven't finished settling.)

I generally work on the Civ adage that the number of luxes is an indication of how many are on your continent. Well here we go with 3 luxes which should indicate some others on my continent (standard map)

But what you see is pretty much my entire continent. Just struck me as odd.

There is a landmass that is just one tile away but it is definitely separate.

That is interesting. What is also interesting is that graphics pack.

Darski, how big is that map? It would make sense if it's a very small one.

it was a continents map so an island is not out of the ordinary and I think the land should have been attached to the next landmass.

I ditched that game as I had wasted too much time to then try to claim other lands by seafaring.

Dude, that smarts. I hate when that kinda stuff happens. Which is why Conquest victory is much more suitable than Diplo. ;)
